What perks do killers have to counter BOON?

Every game I get a BOON totem but there is no counter? We can't even break the totem

Thrill of the Hunt + Hexes makes blessing time really long that it becomes not worth blessing the totem.

That's really the only option killers have.

I don't think killers should even really need counters in form of perks for Boon perks, the Boon perks should just be balanced on their own.

To be fair, the only Boon perk I really have a problem with is Circle of Healing. If they just balanced the perk probably, it wouldn't be a problem.

The nerf to 75% healing was nice I guess, but not enough in my opinion. It should at the very most be 50%.

thrill affects blessing time (at least in the previous update) you can also use gift of pain which reduces the speed of everything while healthy

Boons are ultimately going to be problematic as long as the devs want to make sure the killer has no answer to removing them from the game. Since it means the only way boons aren't strong is if they are too situational or too weak.

This is the thing that really annoys me about this game - you get these elite people who only want to discuss meta. "ANYTHING THAT TAKES A SURVIVOR OFF A GEN IS FINE

You mean because they can be relit infinetly, they are only balanced if there effects are weak or situational?

I mean I do agree that Circle of Healing even with 100% healing bonus would be fine if the boon totems were destroyable or the perks had a huge cooldown, but I do think that these perks can be balanced without such as well. I mean we have other perks with strong effects like Exhaustion perks in this game that are not dependent on blessing a totem and being in their radius.

Though I understand the concern. The devs could go much crazier with the effects of Boon perks if they had much better counters to them.

Kill the survivor who brought it in.

    Other than that, good luck.

Undying, Retribution and Thrill of the Hunt all do something to counter Boons - but they're all Hex perks, and so will probably vanish in the first minute of the game, and do largely nothing besides this mediocre Boon counter. Stealth perks are kind of helpful, but not really for countering Boons in particular, more so for interrupting people. If you're insane, you can also use Forced Penance or maybe instadown perks solely to counter COH.

One way I've found to help counter Boons is to snuff a Boon, go away, and then return about 15-20 seconds later. Sometimes you find the survivor blessing it, and that can mean a free hit. But for this to work, the following needs to happen:

    -The Booning survivor is nearby.

-They want to replace their Boon at that exact location, and not move it to another totem, and they are impatient.

-The survivor doesn't run/hide when they hear your TR.

-The totem they are blessing is not near a pallet or window.

-They don't have LOS of you when you approach.

-They don't have SB or some other exhaustion perk.

-You catch them before they fully bless the totem.

And if any of these aren't true, you've just wasted 20~ seconds applying absolutely no pressure to the gens - and if they weren't there in the first place, you're probably going to hear the Boon sound 10 seconds later, because they've been setting up COH in the shack or on the top floor of a main building or something. And god help you if there's multiple Booners, or if they know where multiple totems are, or if they bless totems that you need to go out of your way to reach.

It’s just COH. It might need to just be reworked at this point. If they start releasing more OP boons then they might as well rework them

Tier 1 Myers+retribution. Wait for them to start trying to boon a totem, go grab them off it.

Thrill Of The Hunt can help against Boons.

Hex: Plaything can also help by limiting totems, forcing survivors to cleanse them. Could also use Hex: Pentimento with it.

Or just give survivors a different objective to interact with besides killer totems. That way they could actually balance it without also ruining killer hexes.

Hex: Plaything is probably the closest counter since most teams don't run more than 2 boon perks. Those totems will be off limits by some of the booners otherwise if they let the totem remain till they can be booned you probably gained some value in that time.

The weird thing is 2/3 boons are like, okay at best. Circle of healing is the bonkers one.

Undying and Thrill of the Hunt, either together or separately, are very good; Undying shows you the aura of anyone trying to bless so you at least know where the boon totem is, and Thrill slows them down by a little bit. Bringing something like Plaything alongside Thrill is a good idea too, since blessing hexes with Thrill active takes almost a full minute and most survivors would rather just break it, which in turn gives them fewer blessing spots. Toss Pentimento in there and you've got a proper anti-boon build.

When people say "boons" they usually mean Circle of Healing specifically, and that perk is countered by anything that inflicts Broken or Exposed- both things that are pretty worth bringing on their own, so it's a safe bet to pack something that'll let you instadown just in case you come across a team using CoH really efficiently.

Haunted Grounds + Undying + Ruin if you're really that annoyed with Boons (Specifically Circle of Healing).

Haunted Grounds is literally a hard counter to CoH since it exposes everyone and faster healing is useless against instadowns.

Exposed in general is one of your best counters to fast healing as well as Dead Hard but nobody wants to use Exposed perks.

TOTH, Haunted Grounds, Retribution, and whatever Hex you want.... cover all Totems and get some benefit from it

Or don't run any Hexes and make the Survivors place their Boons in suboptimal spots with suboptimal times

Run plaything and pentimento, cracked set up.

As others said, thrill with other hexes makes blessing take ages.

Nurses calling has also been working decently for me as survivors seem to have dropped shadow step completely.

Dead perk if one madlad does decide to bring it so it's risky

A nerf up to 50% would really be normal. Then self-healing would take 21.33 seconds, which is pretty good for a free medkit.
