How is it fair that Huntress can hit you around corners when she can't see you?
Huntresses hitboxes are so big that she can hit you when you aren't visually on screen and around a corner. How is this good design in the slightest? Good Huntresses know how to abuse this hitbox and go for hatchet shots that she know won't hit but will actually hit anyway. It's so dumb. It makes certains like the shack impossible for survivors because you literally can't turn corners or go out any exits.

That is a thing not worth complaining about.
Huntress will either work like that or she won't work at all, as a certain experience in the past confirms.

So if her hatchets work like they should they actually wouldn't work at all...?

Precisely.
Patch 2.2.0 tried and it was a colossal failure. Her hatchets couldn't hit a damn thing, Huntresses getting bullied left and right.
The very next patch reverted the change due to how terrible it was.

I believe he's referring to a small period of time where the devs made the huntress hatchet hitbox actually match the hatchet model itself rather than the beach-ball type hitbox it has now
From what I've seen ppl HATED it with a passion and got it reverted

That sounds more like a technical issue on the devs part than the fact that good hitboxes just don't work. That doesn't make any sense.

Nope, that was a change directly applied to her Hatchet hitboxes. You can look it up if you so desire.
Huntress must be like the way she currently is, or she will be the worst killer in the game.
There is a reason that change was reverted so quickly.

"Hated" is an understatement in this case.

I think it's possible to tweak the hitbox slightly without completely breaking her
I don't think the current one is perfect by any stretch but if it's fine as is, focus on other killers.
Besides, BHVR already made changes to her and I don't think they're willing to mess with the most popular killer in the game at the moment.

It should be possible in general, but definitely not possible for BHVR.

Large part of that is from natural server de-sync and has been proven to be there despite having 30-50 ping for both parties. Out of like 200 hours on huntress i've only had 2 hatchets i wouldn't consider hits but every hatchet around a corner hit on my screen.

For the love of god when will people stop repeating this stupid myth? Hitboxes are not an issue. It is latency. And that is something that is literally unavoidable and inherently cannot be removed. BHVR has literally explicitly explained this before repeatedly. The below is an explanation from Peanits, the community manager. Before someone asks a dumb question like “Why don’t they just make more hitboxes for each body part of the survivor,” the reason they don’t is because the more hitboxes you have, the more computing power and load it requires and it makes the game tremendously more demanding. Every single hitbox has to constantly check for collision with any possible object. Also because they don’t want different characters to have advantages and disadvantages off of size and shape of their hitboxes if that was the case.

not trying to be rude, but do you even understand how hitboxes work? This post makes it seem like you don't. Hell, if the hitboxes are too big, it hits the environment instead far more easily, which is why trickster and deathslinger can make much more narrow (albeit less damaging 1 for 1) shots through gaps in walls and such. Huntress hatchets have a travel time, the player has no crosshair or anything similar, and they need to be possible to actually hit when using a controller.

That's not an excuse to make it so she can hit you through walls.

she literally can't. you got hit before you got around the corner. Actually not only that, but the throw needed to be far enough from the corner to not actually hit it and get blocked in the first place. Play killer some time and you'll see people "teleport" on the ground a few feet after being downed almost every time. There's even a step by step diagram like 3 posts up showing how it happens.

Huntress hitboxes screw her over just as much as it does survivors. If your fov is behind a wall it’s most likely latency issue. I believe they tried making the hitbox size smaller a few years ago but reverted because it felt really bad and was too difficult. They probably won’t try adjusting it again unfortunately.

It's so weird, games like tf2 with 24 people in one match can manage hitboxes easily, but this game with 4 survivors is "too much computing power".

"Why is a multi-billion dollar company with a huge amount of servers able to do a lot more than a company that's a fraction the money and size? It makes no sense."

it's not. forget everything having to do with hitboxes or latency or whatever. seeing something hit you that CLEARLY didn't hit you on your screen is a frustrating experience for anyone.

This is what they call the Quad H - Homing Huntress Hatchets Hitbox

TF2 was made like 15 years ago so not really great to compare modern Valve to 07 Valve. And doesn't Behavior have like 500+ employees? I know games with THREE people on the team that are more polished and better programmed than DBD.

TBF its still covid era so we cant really blame everything on mismangement as a lot of their programmers were working at home for a while so bugs were bound to happen without a team to check on things. Mind you not excusing it just saying we need to cut them a little bit of slack in those regards.

Most survivors I've hit near a corner is because their butt is sticking out.

Its not fair but its just how the game works.
