What should one do in the event of Boil Over abuse?

I know it’s getting a change soon but for now, How do you guys deal with it?

I felt like a POS for a slugging a Nea who brought Boil Over and a Crow’s Eye offering. She kept going to the top and wanted to get downed there so she can get use out of Boil Over and I can prevent hooking her. I didn’t bother hooking her because there wasn’t any hooks around.

I didn’t really struggle to keep her there as I was playing The Twins. It was pretty funny as I kept her on the ground with Charlotte and went to apply pressure with Victor. I would’ve really like to see her reaction but she was on a different platform. I felt pretty scummy for doing that to her but she kinda had it in for her. She ended up getting killed because of the timer for being slugged so long.

Is there any way to get to the hook in a situation like that or do I keep doing that for now?

The only real counter is to slug. I wouldn't feel bad for slugging, you aren't trying to be malicious or intentionally waste anybody's time or BM them. You're just trying to win a game. Of course the same could probably be argued for the Survivor who is trying to get away and not get hooked so that they survive and win a game. But I guess that's where the issues with the word abuse come into play

As a killer I just leave them on the ground to bleed out. If someone heals them then I tunnel them and put them in a dying state again. As a survivor I have started just leaving them in a dying state if the killer puts them down and leaves them their to bleed out for abusing this perk. If enough killers/survivors do this then perhaps they will stop.

It was still a pretty fun match. I had a free permanent thana stack throughout the match :D

Playing "toxic" straight as you spawn in works well for me. Picking a character who can deal with Boil Over better than others works well. There's not much boil over abuse against a basement Bubba or Tombstone Myers, I will say that.

I have been going out of my way to kill as many as I can on first hook. If some peoples games are effectively over after 20-30 seconds of being in the match, so be it. I'm trying to do that anyways because its efficient killer gameplay but Boil Over is even more of an excuse.

The perfect counter to all this is to get good with Pyramid Head as a killer because when they employ this strategy you can torment the area and then slug and cage , I had a squad try a No mither, boil over, soul guard build on RPD before they added the hooks and I literally just tormented the area and downed everyone and immediately caged them and the match was over because you can't even attempt in the cage

PHead still has a fair amount of problems as a killer and you will get the survivors that permanently hold W and never allow themselves to be tormented, because using their DS is more important than trying to loop because it's that strong.

Although I've found that in the land of boil over and CoH; alot of people are skimping on the DS. Hard tunneling the first survivor you down with a powerful 1v1 character works alot since you can usually focus someone to death before people in your lobby even get a chance to try to go abuse the broken spots.

DS doesn't work from the cage and not only that but if they're running a boil over squad with no mither and sabo trying to abuse boil over until it's fixed you've immediately countered the build because they can't stay in one place if you torment the area they're trying to occupy, normally boil over squads are trolling with no mither and allowing the slug because they can get back up and they know you can't make it to a hook, when you hear people complain about boil over that's the stuff they're talking about the perk itself is fine it's when you mix it with other perks and employ a "hold the game hostage strategy until the killer DC" that it actually is problematic because you can't do anything about it if you aren't running a whole load out premade to counter the strategy but Pyramid Head has a built in ability to counter the entire strategy

Bleed them out and tunnel & slug them if they get picked up they are looking to make you suffer so you should make them regret it

Also if you play ghostface or pig be sure to teabag and snort at them while you have them bleedout
