How do you avoid falling down the hole on pigs map the one with pallet?

The hole up stair on pigs map with pallet they crouch you hit them they then run past you and drop the pallet then you fall down? How to avoid if you are a basic m1 killer like pig. or the holes where you can not hit them like on nurses map up stair with out falling? Do you have no choice but to leave that survivor?

It is impossible to avoid the pallet stun if you are using a basic attack, but that is still ideal, in my experience. You get a hit, they lose a pallet. Win-win.
I do not believe you fall as long as you are positioned properly. Just hit them with the tip.
