we already knew there wouldn’t be a new map since artist was released because they said on the anniversary stream i think that we would have 2 new maps this year the first one being RPD

the main thing is to publish a new killer, but don`t rework the annoying maps.. (swamp, haddonfield, etc..)

I would like to see more, but this isn't a surprise. I don't remember when exactly they said they'd start new maps up again but it's not yet.

Why single out Swamp specifically? There are a few maps that haven't been touched by the reworks yet.
Also, I'd imagine it's because Haddonfield is currently offline for a rework.

we just had eyrie of crows.. which while pretty it is still a pretty awful map to play on. i think one or two original maps a year is fine.
but i do however wished that they do more Semi-New maps in an existing realm, the same way clown and plague had their map inside another realm. a ringu map would actually be pretty okay if it was inside the red forrest or the yamaoka estate. if it was in the yamaoka estate, they could say that rin has heard of the urban legend surrounding cursed tape. and the map was manifested from her memories and sadako's fractured.
the twins could've gotten a map in ormond, since winter and isolation is a narrative thread in their story. maybe like a campsite or abandoned shack from charlotte's memories when she was alone and on the run.

To be fair, most of the licensed maps are not good. I'd rather not get a map than get another RPD.

I thought they are going to rework Haddonfield. If it is not reworking with this chapter, why they disabled map that early?

Was not Saloon lastest map before realm beyond? I think it released after Midwich. And Saloon is terrible map.

Because Haddonfield is one of the worst maps in existence and they probably guessed people wouldn't mind if it disappeared.

Yeah, i don't miss it. They can also disable RPD too. I heard it has some exploits. So this is good reason to disable it for a year.

... how? It is way too dark, way too cramped and claustrophobic, has a layout that is incredibly difficult to learn unless you've played the game it's from, makes certain killer powers incredibly difficult to use, and it is super long so attempting to defend more than half the map is basically impossible.
Like... legitimately I see no redeeming qualities in RPD.

I'd be fine if they focused on reworking current maps (as they are doing with Haddonfield, thank god).
I don't see the need for a new map every chapter, it would almost certainly result in even worse design/QA. Quality over quantity should be the approach, imo.
I think introducing new maps on a subjective basis would be best, like when one is iconic, or really strongly associated with a killer.
Like with Sadako, none of the environments form the source material are remarkable in and of themselves, or inextricably linked with her.
But if you brought in Jason (likely never to happen, but for example's sake), you'd HAVE to have a Camp Crystal lake. Or if a FNAF killer was brought in (*vomits*), you know a map would have to come with it. Or with the Xenomorph, a spaceship would be called for. And so on.
Some chapters just demand it, but with most it seems superfluous.

I had some small hopes that Shelter Woods would be reworked for the chapter. But you basically have so many maps that go with the Ringu theme hand in hand, why would you even need another map like that?

They could at least rework the swamp maps. but they don`t. instead they just release new skins.. the swamp has so much potential but no, the map is still eye cancer :/ and btw, can you read? i didn`t say that there should be a new map for the chapter^^

Yea, I too believe because they are working hard to redo Haddonfield in time for the next patch. It’s probably done and they’re play testing it now for glitches & bugs. Pure speculation on my part, ofc.

I guess Haddonfield wasn't a 'new' map, because it's "just Laurie's street from the movie"? Did Midwich not count as a 'new' map because it's "just the school from Silent Hill 1"?
How about characters. Bill wasn't a 'new' character because he was just "Bill from Left 4 Dead"?

It isn't very reassuring that Realm is dragging out with no new reveals. We used to get one map per chapter, and now it's a weird schedule that is inconsistent. In Y1, Bvhr introduced four maps, Y2 was three, Y3 had four, Y4 was three (now two bc ST removal), Y5 was down to two maps, and Y6 two maps again. I would LOVE maps for The Blight, The Trickster, and The Twins. When Bvhr cranked out the reworks, Realm Beyond was excellent, but when was the last map? It's taking too long, and some of the reworks are lackluster. I hope they are done and can resume new maps with every chapter in Y7. Total silence on the promised next-gen upgrades like RT and other enhancements. We never got the promised PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements mentioned in 2017, either.

We need a urban/city map. All-Kill was a missed opportunity for one. Seoul, Tokyo, NYC, or London would be good candidates IMO.

I am excited for the Haddonfield rework, that is good enough for me. And I do not mind Eerie as much as everyone else, I suppose, so I am still relatively satisfied from that.
