I'm fairly new to DBD 2 months rank 4 killer is my highest but I noticed something I think I'm doing wrong basically shooting my self in the foot by doing it or not? I roam and whenever I find a survivor working on a gen usually with 50% progress I kick the gen and then I start the chase if the survivor ran away when I'm getting close so my mentality is that kicking the gen will start regression while I chase and zone that survivor long enough for the gen to lose progress and down that survivor . If I can land a hit on greedy gen doers I usually chase first then kick later but sometimes it's like ocd I kick it first to make sure it's losing progress ( I don't have pop yet ) So I heard today that it's not worth it you need to chase so you don't lose distance but that keeps the gen in a high progress for the next survivor especially swf so how should I tackle this issue?

Tonight I had one match against a toxic swf high mmr good survivors the type that body blocks hooks and all so I managed to kill their weak link I was gen rushed but I managed to get them Into a 3 gen scenario and 3 survivors remain the problem that they're super good at looping and each time I kick one of the 3 gens and go to one of the other 2 it's already at 80% progress I kick it then maybe hit someone I get a tinkerer warning so each one of them or 2 at the time they switch and communicate which gen I'm at I lost my mind it's too difficult bro defend 3 if I chase someone they will finish one gen I couldn't down anyone and and they escaped I had most of my games tonight against bully squads climbing and gen rushers so how should've I tackled that 3 gen scenario?

I usually try to get a hit before I kick the gen. Kicking then chasing just loses u pressure. That saying kicking is almost worthless unless you have pop.

You both said you hit someone then kick gen and kicking is worthless I'm confused ba bit , do you chase after the first hit or after the kick

I'm saying if u need to kick or have pop or something, hit then kick. Not kick then hit.

Kicking gens is always wrong. Unless you have Pop or its endgame with 2 survivors left and you kicking lone gen somewhere just for the info

Kicking gens is not viable. Only do it if there is nothing else to do and you highly suspect nobody is around. Like if you drop chase with someone and return to the gen where you started chase to see if someone else picked it up and the progress is the same.

If you have not Pop or any perk rewarding you for kick gens, it is usually worthless. So hit survivor and chase them if they are on dead zone. Better value.

Depends, but I'll recommend you to just take ruin and jolt.

I only kick gens if I run pop.

Otherwise no. Not even the gen that is at 99%

Keep in mind that kicking takes time, to stop regressing only a single click of m1.

So once you kick and commit to chase, a second survivor can start working on gen or just stopping regress.

Since you are new to the game, I would recommend you perks, if you do not have yet.

No way out - trickster (Block opening exit doors for 60s)

Corrupt Intervention - Plague (block majority of gens early game 90-120s dunno exact number)

Scourge hook: Pain resonance - artist (gen regress 25%? dunno exact value + information)

Do not bother with gens at all.

Just commit to chases and effective downs.

try to analyse tiles and gyms layout and how to effectively traverse through them.

Also. If you see multiple survivors in proximity. If you down one, pressure other - 1hit at least. But do not over commit with chase/slugging so you wont end up empty handed

You gain more pressure if you actually chase the Survivor instead of giving them distance by kicking a Gen. The only exception here is probably PGTW. But other than that, it is always better to chase the Survivor instead of wasting the time to kick the Gen.

If you can get a hit in less than 10 seconds, it's a mistake.

If you have pop and the gen is above 25% it may be a mistake.

Do you have a "reason" to kick the gen that isnt "I wanna start regression"? Then kick it. If not start chase.
