Does anyone know what happened to the future mori mechanic?
I don't know if this will ever get answered but does everyone remember when during the 5th anniversary event on the Live Design portion it was mentioned that the team was looking into a revamped and improved Mori Mechanic that would be core to the game? It would rid of offerings and essentially killers would have to earn them and survivors could play into the mechanic optionally? I would love an update on this because it was not mentioned in the last Q&A stream, and we are almost coming on a year since this change was announced to us with no new information. Any mods who can answer this or give a small update would be very appreciated. I love the new ringu content and I am very grateful DBD is able to have so many icons, amazing characters and features in the game today. I have no clue what the 6th anniversary will be like.

We were also supposed to get insentives for playing certain queues during times there werent many people playing that role. Probably both part of "our road map was a little too ambitious".

Presumably it's just not finished yet, or they ran into unexpected issues with it.
I don't thiiiink they gave us any timeframe for when they'd be implementing it, so it's anything goes on that front.

Given they designed Sadako around a conditional mori, I feel it is safe to say that idea was scrapped.

@SomberNokk right. I don't know why that hasn't been implemented just yet but that would be nice. I think it might have to do with them addressing the grind in a new feature they've mentioned but of course haven't given much information about.

The devs often mention they are looking at doing things. That does not mean those things will come to the game. They're not really announcements, more like, "This is our newest drawing hanging on the refrigerator. Isn't it nifty?" There are many ideas they have mentioned to the community that were later scrapped. Sometimes those ideas never get mentioned again.
Until something is in the game, it's best to assume it's a pipe dream.

@jesterkind When they announced it they said they were about to prototype it I'm just curious if they made it at least past that or even playtested it yet, even that kind of update would be great, if it was still in the works or scrapped entirely.

It's probably still in the works, it's likely it's just low priority on the to do list.

I do personally enjoy the secondary objectives. It helps spice the game up.

@TragicSolitude I get that. And i understand, it just sucks that we can't even know in QnA's the status of something that was announced and what not, I'm cool if it was scrapped or if it's still being tested, but something would be great.

I hope it's still in the works, i am loving all the new features like boons, scourge hooks, and killer design that pushes interaction with everyone.

It does suck that they mention things they're looking into but don't tell us when they decide against it. Like the "beginning game slow down" thing they were look at doing, which got completely scrapped but it took a lot of pestering for them to come out and say so. I've just gotten used to that and when the devs mention things these days I just go, "Oh, that would be cool," and then try to forget about it because it'll probably never happen.
I mean, sometimes the things they actually announce take years. Hell, even things they give us dates on (cough Switch cross-progression cough) become broken promises. So... like I said, at this point I try to assume nothing is coming to the game until it actually goes live.

@TragicSolitude i know the switch cross progression breaks my heart because my gf plays only on switch but hopefully something will happen in a few years. but I'll take your advice, complete neutrality and low expectations.

Remember when the devs said we'd get Husks to replace DC'd Survivors, so Killers can still hook them, and Survivors can save them, for the tokens on such perks as require those actions?

Yeah I just take it as the idea has been scraped and "Reworked" into other aspects. Meaning if you want the ability to Mori being a part of gameplay, you gotta buy the new dlc killer.
If it's something that people are excited for but you're still working on it, it'd make sense that they'd say, "Hey I know you're excited for this, we're still working on it, but it is still coming."
But when it's something that people are excited for but they just scrapped the idea, like the early game collapse that everyone was excited for, they just go silent.
I mean think about it. They talked about an early game collapse, then we don't hear anything about it for almost a year, then they come out with a killer, Pinhead with his box, and Mikayla with her boons, that incentivize doing something other than gens in the early game. But to get that you have to buy the dlc for them. Then a couple months later we find out the idea has been scrapped.
They talked about having the Mori being built into base killer gameplay almost a year ago, we've heard nothing since then. Now we have another new killer being added to the game that has a built in Mori into her gameplay. But you gotta buy the dlc.
I don't doubt that in a few months the Mori topic will come back up and they'll say it was scrapped and "reworked" into other aspects of the game, meaning the stuff you actually have to pay for.

I don't remember what the original post is talking about but I remember a while back they talked about revamping moris and keys and eventually all mori offerings were changed to require the survivor to have been hooked twice and keys were changed to not allow multiple people to escape via a key.

Honestly idk what happened to it but I'm not really worried about it. I don't think moris are in a bad spot right now.

The mori system has to still be in the works cause if you look at the mori logo there’s a number. That wasn’t there before.

I believe the mori system is still on the way. You have to understand that when the devs say something is coming soon they mean within a dogs lifetime.

It took them three years to fix the egregious Nurse bugs and when they did so they broke her so badly they've had to killswitch her with no timeline on when she'll be back, if ever.
