Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage: Problem? Or not?

Yippee, new perks new discussions.

Floods of Rage is a new Scourge Hook perk introduced in the lastest chapter PTB, featuring Ringu.

If you don't know what it does, it's basically a BBQ that works late.

When a survivor is unhooked (from a scourge hook) all survivor auras are revealed to you for a few seconds.

Now, i'm personally fine with this perk as it's just another BBQ, but i've seen some people argue that this perk might encourage some tunnelling plays due to you being able to see the auras of everybody, including the unhooked.

Your opinions on Flood of Rage?

Man I hate, Gobynunget.

Why do people think this will be a problem when it is highly limited in what it can even do by the nature of it being a scourge hook perk on top of just being a aura reading perk. That is all it is, aura reading and nothing else. If you don't think BBQ is a problem then you shouldn't think this is problem either they are doing the same thing just with different timing.

But on the other hand it also has no range limit and lasts twice as long as BBQ which can make it more likely you’ll be able to actually take advantage of the aura information. If you’re not in a chase when it triggers, odds are the closest survivor to you is relatively close and you can immediately go to where they actually are with the aura. And if you are in a chase, the aura of the person being chased can help you against possible mindgames. Plus if you still happen to be near the hook, you see their auras if they try to sneak off.

Basically the perk doesn’t need to tell you where four people are that you have no idea where they may be, it only needs to gives you an aura on one person that you can hopefully quickly reach.

I could see it being pretty dirty with make your choice. Throw an indoor map offering in there too and it will probably get you alot of very easy downs.

The idea that it helps with tunneling by showing you the unhooked survivor doesn't hold up. I mean, If you are tunneling someone then you know where you hooked them, you don't need a perk for that.

Some killers (players I mean) thrive on information and SH:FoR is one more option in their arsenal. IMO, it's a disservice comparing it to BBQ, they are similar in activation and synergistic, but the similarities and there. BBQ cannot benefit you in a chase and in that sense, SH:FoR is more akin to IAE. The main beneficiary will be Huntress and I can totally see her Mains using BBQ+SH:FoR together.

Correction: you can NOT see the aura of the unhooked survivor. However, if the unhooker starts healing them, you will know where the unhooked person is.

Time to run that one perk. One of Steve perks something something.... guardian maybe idk. The one that hides the aura of the person you just unhooked and yours is shown instead. Obviously no one ever uses the perk so i can't even remember what it's called or what it does exactly.

It's a worse BBQ without the double BP (The primary reason anyone runs BBQ.) As the first post says, when it activates you are really only getting info on half the team. You already know the other half is at the hook.

It is just too situational. You've got to hook the survivor on exactly right type of hook, then when they get unhooked you've got to not already be busy chasing someone else. It is at best only a third as good as BBQC. If you are running Make Your Choice or something like that it could be made to be somewhat useful.

I am fairly certain that it reveals the aura of everyone except for the person that was unhooked.

    >Each time a Survivor is unhooked from a Scourge Hook, the following effects apply:

    >The Auras of all other Survivors are revealed for 5/6/7 seconds.

To me, that reads like the aura of all survivors except the one off the hook gets revealed.

It's basically a Make Your Choice companion, with the downside that you need a scourge hook available.

I recon it could become a very obnoxious combo on some killers, but I've seen worse.

I think it's a fair competitor to BBQ & Chili, without encouraging tunnelling or camping too much, if at all. Sure, BBQ & Chili gives you similar vision, but it only does so at a time when you are far away and unable to act on it, and it has plenty of counterplay for the survivors, as they can block it with a locker.

Floods of Rage, on the other hand, can highlight a survivor that's trying to hide just out of sight, right when you need it most. I think it can situationally exceed BBQ & Chili.

EDIT: In terms of gameplay health, BBQ & Chili also helps camping tremendously. Any missing outlines will encourage camping, as killers assume someone is nearby to go for the unhook.

It's not too strong or anything but I'm sick of them constantly releasing aura reading perks and add ons. There are so many different things that reveal your aura that you need to be aware of. And then they take Distortion and say "we know we've been adding a lot of aura reading, so this perk is a bit dated. Enjoy the ONE extra charge."

BBQ is still better, with current grind you just can't afford to play without 100% boost.
