To mitigate getting a cheater in game, maybe ... (for Steam players)
_ Turn cross-play off (No free Epic Games burn accounts).
Look into profiles and be wary of:
_ players with only one game in their account assuming it's a burn-account. (I even dodge profiles with less than 5 games now)
_ players with a ban, even if it was years ago.
Does that makes sense? Yesterday I've not got any cheater in my games (as far as I know) and I'm used to get one to three per night. It may have been only luck though.

Turning off crossplay gives you a reduced chance of cheaters but an increased chance of 4 person SWFs. If you get a lot of cheaters then its probably a good idea to turn if off because if you get a lot of cheaters your MMR is probably high enough for you to not care about SWFs.

I don't really mind SWFs that much. More often than not they are cocky and aggressive. It's way more fun to go against than cowering gen-jockeys. (And if they are not the game is over fast anyway, I'm not the one waiting in the queue for several minutes between each game.)

If you get a console and turn off cross play, there's 100% chance you won't get a cheater. Though ditching all your progress on PC and rebuying the game and all the dlc is a lot to ask to never have to play with cheaters. TLDR: console is superior ;)

PC cheaters can force themselves into your console games.

Are you serious? can I get a link to a video or something somewhere not because I don't believe you but because I want to send it to my friends and suffer in pain with them lol

This is not true. I think I may have been the first to post a video of it? maybe
I had my Crossplay off and low and behold, someone jumped into my lobby with a globe icon. They are on the left side of the screen.
I did get them again a while later, but I was playing Pinhead.

I hope you did report them.

I did.
They have not been banned, to my knowledge.

thanks for the video it's so weird that they can even do that

Eh, not really.
I hesitate to talk about hacking because I've seen people punished for "advertising" but I can say there's little they can't do.

I mean in the sense that the globe icon shows up clearly showing that they can tell they're from a different platform but can still be in the same lobby as console users. I feel like if they just ran a simple check they should be able to tell that guy's manipulating the game in one way or another. But then again, I'm not a coder and have no idea how to do anything I just said so maybe it's not that easy

did you play through that match if so, do you have the recording for it or did you dodge because obvi that guy's cheating. I would love to know if people like that still subtle cheat or just go fully blatant immediately

To be honest i am tempted to turn off crossplay. After epic the hacker issue got worse and you can't even see their profiles which makes reporting them that much harder.
Not sure i want to deal with just PC players eather... sometimes its nice when you are against full console team, the end chat is so peaceful (i know i can turn it off)

I did play the match, but it was on Twitch and I didn't save it.
I did however, play them again as a Dwight later. I did record it and it's on the same channel as the first clip.

Here you go. A random video I found on YouTube from last August, and I know I've seen people talking about it more recently than that.
