    Still way more players than it had in 2019. There are more than just chapter factors going into this. Having around 50k consistent steam players alone is quite impressive, given that it was like, 28k-35k something pre-pandemic? (Feel free to correct me on this- I just took a quick skim! )

    1. The dreaded C-Virus totally inflated numbers due to everyone being forced to stay home. Come 2022, everyone is now returning to something akin to normal, and most things are now in person again, meaning people now have less time to play.
    2. Lots of people were burnt out after the RE chapter- said chapter resulted in a HUGE boost to numbers. I'm still seeing people return to the game after taking a break; it happens every anniversary!
    3. The VHS hyped fell off with a steep drop. I haven't heard anyone actually talk about the game in a context not related to DBD since it was announced. When isolated, I've only really heard complaints. Played the game myself as well, and it was fun, but definitely not the same as DBD!
    4. TONS of new games have come out recently that are taking attention away from DBD, specifically the attention of their primary streamers. (Elden Ring!)


    DBD definitely needs some changes, but this isn't the first time, nor the last time, its player count will plateau into the 50k range, and it definitely isn't the first or last time we're going to see players drop the game, come back, and drop the game again. Hopefully, though, we get some major QoL changes soon! I'd love to see em'!

    dbd is dying, we all know the peak of dbd was resident evil. Crazy how overwatch is dead and didn’t have any new content since Echo but still doing crazy numbers. They don’t even need to milk licensed characters like dbd for views lol. When the last time a popular streamer like xqc streamed this game? I honestly see more people streaming friday the 13th game more than dbd

    A downward trend doesn't equal a game is dying. Resident Evil brought in a ton of new players. Realistically many of those players weren't going to stick around. Add to that the steam charts are only one metric.

    Moreover, Pinhead and Sadako are the best addition to the game (not gameplay wise but those killers really have something special in the horror culture).

    1 month later : we lost again 10k players on steam during peak times, if that's not dying, tell me what it is...

    If they do not fix the issues, VHS will take the rest of the playerbase.

    1. You dont have any viable numbers on the total playercount. Steam is just a proportion of the total count.
    2. Bringing new content doesnt equate to generating new players.
    3. There is no way DbD is dying by just looking at steam count.

    Steam count ? Huge decrease.

    Twitch viewers ? Huge decrease.

    Twitch channels ? Huge decrease.

    Of course numbers count. Cause you think that a playercount massively decreasing on steam will be massively increasing on console ? Especially when the game is almost unplayable on PS4 and X360 thanks to huge framerate issues ?

    I bet the decrease is even worst on consoles.

    Regarding steam numbers: we got an unnormal huge influx of players with RE chapter. in before the numbers were the same as theyre now. You cant ignore such an event that was an anomaly. So on steam the player count was basically stable through the last year until now. Also we had an influx of players starting with pandemic isolations. thats also gone by now. just ignoring everything important to explain the counts for justifying a false statement is pathetic.

    Regarding Twitch numbers/channels: they decrease since the super mega chapter of RE. So the game got much more players than normally but twitch viewers went down since this chapter. With your logic this wouldnt have been possible. so theres just no correlation in this regard. its the same reasons as or steam numbers.

    Playerbase :

    The month before RE chapter there were 105k peak players. 2 months before, even before the RE chapter reveal, we had 86k peak players. And 3 months before we had 55k peak players.

    We are far from the 35k peak we have now. Even in 2018 there were more players... with less ppl that bough the game.

    Today there are 50 millions copies sold and we have less peak players than in 2018 when the game was a niche one with not even a million copies sold.


    And for Twitch, peak viewers :

    Viewers April 2021 (before RE reveal) = 127k

    Viewers May 2021 (RE still not released) = 255k

    Viewers June 2021 (RE release) = 140k

    Viewers today = 119k


    You are delusional thinking DbD is in a good state now.

    Twitch alone yes but when there is a correlation between all numbers you cannot ignore it. That's how stats are working.

    And if you were objective enough to go check by yourself you would see that there is a direct link between the steamcharts number and the twitchstats number. One goes up, the other one too, and vice versa.
