BARRIER TO ENTRY, for a new player is TOO HIGH
If I was looking at picking up this game for the first time, lets say becasue I like "the ring" or something. Think about how terrible it is having to grind up all those bloodpoints. Not to mention that the dlc for this game is mega expensive.
People who are playing the game now are playing becasue they like the gameplay.
is there even any progress being made to fix this?

This is possibly the least newbie friendly game I have ever seen. I thought it was bad when I picked it up in 2018 and the grind is worse now. I've recommend it to friends who quit within a week because the grind is mindblowing. You would think new player retention would be a priority for any game supported by cosmetics/microtransactions, but BHVR logic is incomprehensible.

I just dont get it at all - I mean, I play Eve online, which I would say has a really hard learning curve comapred to other games. The thing is, atleast with eve you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. With this game? it's just horrible.
I know if i had not invested the time I have into this game I would drop it.
The bloodweb gives me PTSD.

Yeah, the bloodweb itself is a slog. 2 million for rank rewards? Have fun spending 10+ minutes mindlessly clicking on a bloodweb.
The grind is worse than any MMO I've played in the last decade. Games like FF14 give you a bonus when you've been logged off for a while and they reduce the grind on older content so players can catch up. Good luck catching up in DbD.

Removing perk tiers would be a step in the right direction.
But then there's still the issues of the metas requiring DLC characters or lots of low-use perks before a decent build can be scrapped together.

Devs already said they don´t remove perk tiers. (Q&A)
I hope their FINAL solution will be either a. unlock a teachable, unlock tier 1 for everyone else or b. 2 perks in the first nodes per web and 4 on the outer parts.

I remember farming ore spawns in WoW and it was less tedious. Heck how many times i must have ran the deadmines....

Dude I'd love to play this game with my friends but they all refuse to keep playing because of this stupid grind. Some of my friends started, enjoyed the game alot, after they realized what to do to get most of the perks, they said f it and left. Devs wanna fix soloQ? Make this game newbie friendly. That way everyone can play with their friends, veteran or new player.

The thing that makes my heart sad is that, lets say you do as your friends do and get X perks... They cant have the fun that you can have when you have every perk unlocked, so many fun combos and synergies....like tears in th..

i 100% agree, the perk limit is unnecessary and dated, perk tiers just a punishing handicap that add a frustrating grind, i see 0 positive with those. My first game ever on DBD was against a doctor with 4 tier 3 perks meanwhile I was running 1 yellow tier perk.

As a new player, I can confirm that indeed, one of the most frustrating elements of the game starting out - aside from the stuff you gotta learn to get good, all games have that kind of thing. - Is how insane the the grind for bloodpoints is. Having to level up both Killers and Survivors for their Meta Perks is a complete chore.

I can certainly imagine how overwhelming it must be for new players with the amount of content there is in the game. So many different killer powers to learn to play with/against, add ons, perks, status effects and all that. Gotta be pretty crazy to jump into.

they said they won't remove perk tiers, but they should anyway :)

I'm surprised they didn't fix this problem already, it have very easy solutions.
In the last Q&A they saidthat they won't remove the tiers due coding problems or something like this, OK, I believe you.
BUT, here are some damn easy ideas:
- Doubling the BP earned by every score event in the game and raising the cap to 64k BP every match.
- Bloodhunts every weekend.
- Daily quests 50k each and 100k the mori ones.
- Doubling the tome BP rewards.
- 4 perks in every bloodweb from level 1, 8 from level 50 and ahead. Removing the feature of the entity consuming one perk when you select other.
- Becoming the Party Streamers a yellow rarity offering, remove the brown BP bonus oferings and becoming the current yellow ones in brown ones except maybe Escape Cake and Survivor Pudding. The green ones related to a only one category now give 150% BP bonus.
If the proficency of ultrarrare and very rare addons become a problem due the increased economy just double the BP required for them.
It isn't that hard, all of the things above combined would be perfect, but at least some of them combined would be nice aswell.

The grind is actually one of the worst things about this game, and I play Warframe regularly, and that game is all grind.
I promise people aren't playing for the grind and it's a huge turn off for new players. Because it's a massive grind for the end result being to play how you're actually wanting to play. Perks can 100% change how you're forced to play the game. For example, if you're forced to use pop because it's your only slowdown perk you've managed to unlock, compared to if you had pain resonance or jolt. It means you either have to play around these perks, or have useless perks that you never get value out of.
I actually had an idea on how to eliminate the grind immediately, and forever.
All owned perks are automatically unlocked across all owned characters. They start at tier 1 on every character and go up to 3. Any perks you already have tiered up on specific characters stay that way. You increase the tier/power of the perk by using it. At the end of the match you gain points that go towards the progress of leveling up the perks you used.
This would give you access to the stuff you actually want to use and the playstyle you want. It would also incentivize you to learn new styles of play if you want all perks to tier 3 because you'd actually have to use them and learn to play around them.

They're pretty stingy with their BP economy.

It’s sort of perplexing. As a new player, not only do you have to grind whilst learning a highly punishing game, but you also have to do it with weak, boring builds, and you have to cough up a fair bit of dosh for that experience.
Some chapters have brought in so many new players only to lose them shortly thereafter. You’d think fixing the excessive barrier to entry would be a notable priority, but apparently that’s not the case, which is odd.
