Do devs care about their reputation.
The cocky QnA streams, constant bugs, huge hacker issue, refusal to fix the grind and balance the game, etc.
Its insane how much ill will this company has built with its playerbase. Do the devs care they have all this ill will?

No,they only care about money as they proved time and time again,every change they make its with money in mind.
If they cared about their reputation they wouldn't treat their playerbase like it didn't exist.

What would you do in their position?
Really think about it- you represent a game development studio with an unearned reputation, with a community/playerbase that is actively hostile and will misrepresent anything you say or do in order to continue being mad at you. How do you actually handle that? I'm not sure I'd know what to do with that situation myself, so I can't really judge BHVR too harshly for their response to it.

They're not a small indie developer, they generate a lot of income but are somehow getting the basics very wrong.
I do agree with you that a section of the playerbase are hostile. There is no need for it & breeds an unwelcome environment. I'm not an avid follower on socials of BHVR and a lot of the playerbase probably aren't too - I'd like to see more promotion of community & wholesome vibes in the game news feed once in a blue moon. When the trial starts and until it ends...survive or kill to your hearts content. Inbetween, be pleasent to all.

Actions speak louder than words. They really couldn’t care less what people think of them imho. Sometimes it seems as though they hold portions of the community in contempt lol. Having said that, I’m sure many of them are perfectly nice people. They just don’t know how to manage a community without taking things personally imho.
