Why Are Some Killers Punished For Using Their Power?
Title.
I'm sure anyone that tries to push Iri 1 rapidly on killer will have spotted this.
Essentially, killers with an instadown (or worse yet, a mori) actively take penalties when it comes to grade, while killers who are capable of inflicting many hits quickly rank up like crazy.
For instance - I've 3k'd on Myers and got Brutal, but 1k'd on Wraith and got Ruthless.

Oh punished with poor emblem score not just 1 hit killers like Myers any killer same way. Everyone killer and survivor are in trials to entertain the Entity and matches that end so fast are always boring.

...huh?

I think he's trying to say it makes sense with the lore.

First time I truly became disillusioned with the emblem system was with starstruck. I downed 3 survivors off my first Starstruck and ended the game immediately and the games like "LMFAOO you suck Haha "
If Bhvr says it's impossible to properly assess skill, I guess theres no hope for emblems either.

People wonder why no one plays Plague despite being "strong" in the current meta, this is one of the reasons, the Emblem system heavily punishes certain killers.
It doesn't help that MMR forces you into fast, sweaty games which are at odds with the Emblems steep demands for a pip.

I don't see how.
Yeah Artist has problems too, as for some reason bird strike damage doesn't count as a 'hit' event.

Plague's adept was hardest adept and i think this was reason. I thought they gonna fix this with new grade system but here we are :)

What I THINK he means is.... The emblem system is meant to represent how close the killer has come to pleasing The Entity, lore wise. Straight up killing a survivor or focusing hard on one person in particular is not what The Entity wants. The Entity can't feast on the survivor's hope if the killer just kills them outright. Similarly, the survivor has no hope to feast on if they are sacrificed while face to face with Leatherface. Also, whether a survivor lives or dies doesn't matter as The Entity still feeds off of their hope regardless. The Entity just designed the trials in a way that it could easily farm all that delicious hope. (At least that is how I understood it. Someone correct me if I am wrong.)
So yea, in some cases it is a lore thing. The Entity might or might not want that sacrifice...But certain killers, like Myers, are gonna do what they want. So The Entity is Displeased. In other cases...it is not thought out too well, imo. For instance, Plague suffers pretty bad when survivors cleanse. When they cleanse from the broken state, it counts as being healed. This can rack up penalties quick. I learned the hard way after trying to get her Adept Achievement. I did it by only using her power on survivors who were on death hook.

And here I thought we were gonna talk about Legion :(

because you are ending a chase "early", the killer that can't instadown as to put more "work" into downing a survivor so the system is trying to reflect that.

I remember when they added the emblem system they said it would be adjusted for various killers such as Hillbilly so using their power rewards more. That never happened.

Legion is definitely the most infamous for this sucks ass without cooldown add ons (whoops you meant emblem conditions)

They're punished for using them in gameplay as well.

Oh, somewhat what Tmcalypso said. It's a bit of both some lore reasons and game play reasons. If all you do is 1hit down that's less chases, less attacks on survivors less actions overall by everyone resulting in a worse emblem score for you since the system didn't see you do much. Its an old out dated system and I doubt it'll be updated anytime soon since every killer plays differently with Plague and instant kill Myers being 2 obvious examples.
