Who remembers OG Prayer Beads Bracelet?
The one that made Spirit silent while phasing. I wasn’t around before it got changed to global phase sound but I really wish I was. It looked so fun to use. I do understand why it was removed though as it was the opposite of balanced.

I used it quite a bit, and usually with a gen grab build. Almost a free win but then again spirit in general was almost a free win back then anyways. Her lunge / speed / charge speed add-ons were way more busted imo, especially on release.

I wouldn’t say base Spirit was ever a free win but PBB with Yakuyoke Amulet and the right perks certainly was against most groups.

I would love getting jumpscared by my girl a lot. Bring the add on back (I’m obviously joking about bringing the add on back but not about wanting to get jumpscared by Rin)!

Well that was back in the days I was spamming Ebony Mori's on her too. I honestly could not remember ever really losing with that.
I liked the original green charge speed addon + the purple lunge addon. That one was so strong before it's first nerf and you basically got a hit at any short loop if they stayed at it for more than a second or two. Almost Nurse levels of strong.
70% MDR was also just outright broken, lol

Well the game wasn't as balanced as it is now. Not that I think it's super balanced but certainly more than back then. Stridor didn't need to get nerfed though, since I actually liked using that sometimes on killers that were not Spirit.
Spirit was actually too easy most of the time, since you could change killers in the lobby back then I usually reserved her for ebony mori'ing 4 stacks or TTVs. You would get the 4 stack SWFs back then sending you to pre-rework Ormond, probably the most survivor sided map in DBDs history, with like 3x toolboxes and a key. So if you didn't tunnel mori them they basically escaped after like 2-3 minutes. That was when I brought spirit with an Ebony because she was one of the few killers who could actually beat it.
But playing her against solo Q was so easy it was boring, similar to how I felt about Nurse before her rework.

After reading that, it agonizes me how much people try to ruin Spirit’s rep by saying “just got gud” or something like that when PBB was clearly a problem. Spirit doesn’t deserve any of that.

Wasn't fun. A similar experience is still possible on a map like The Game if the Spirit uses Distressing with
Prayer BeadsFurin*. But it still doesn't compare.1 -
It was unbelievable. And it stayed in the game a long time. You could use Whispers and use it to constantly grab people from gens.

Not only balanced, but there were many people going further, saying she was underpowered during AND after PTB, so they buffed her after release.
They should have just let it ride for a few months to see how it would play out because not too long after that, someone (Horvath?) said it was a mistake to make changes based on community pressure and they didn't want to do that again... although I might be confusing Rin with Freddy's rework. It's on one of their Dev streams.

I do. I loved using old Prayer Beads back then. I would use it with Thrill Of The Hunt (Before it was nerfed) and other hex totems just to grab survivors off of totems. It was fun to scare the survivors. I'm kind of sad it's gone, tbh.

You'd typically run it with old yakuyoke amulet which was basically 3 yellow add-ons in one purple. Some used mdr, but amulet was way better imo. Extra power speed, duration, and recovery iirc. Then your info perks. Stuff like discordance or whispers. Since spirit only has a 24m tr you'd walk to a gen until whispers lights up, phase over to it, "feel" around because you use to have collision, and yoink a poor unsuspecting survivor off. That should give you an idea.

You can still pull it off...but not on Spirit so much.
Wraith with dual iris can still do it, but the absolute king of the grabbers is a dual iri Demogorgon.

Demo is pretty loud thought so I don't agree with that. Wraith definitely can though.

I used to worry about my noise as Demo, but after playing against him a few times - it's only really noticeable when he charges a shred. I still get plenty of hilarious grabs as Demo.

You barely even had to chase with original prayer beads, you just grabbed people off gens and they couldn't do anything unless they had spine chill. And even if they did, you could still had them when they got off the gen, and then chased them down with MDR. It was stupid and deserved to be removed.

It wasnt as op as ppl said it was, its just annoying if you actually managed to grab ppl off gens, but if survivors had a brain you could still react to it. It was strong yes but it wasnt "no counterplay busted", for example iri Blight tag is way stronger in comparison.

To be honest, that was the only clearly OP thing that I ever hoped it wouldn't be nerfed. It was ridiculously unfair, but so fun! Not only fun to get grabs with, but also funny to get jumpscared by it, or to watch streamers getting jumpscared.
Still, of course, I didn't find it bad when the add-on got nerfed, since it was so obviously broken. I was more like "It was good while it lasted, but it had to go at some point".

Original prayer beads was one of the best purple add ons the game has ever had. You could use M&A then any speed add on and fly to gens, if people didn’t have spine chill they were screwed. I also hated going against it, which was almost every game against a spirit. To top it all off you could still collide with survivors while phasing, so they had even less of a chance.
Old Spirit was so annoying thinking back on it.

Truly the most broken add on in the game to date.
It was disgusting to play against, and the only "counter" (not including bringing specific perks in case you got bent over by this) was to gen tap which made everything take about 10 times as long.
The only time I would use it was for "grab survivors" tome challenges.

No, you couldn't react to it at all. It didn't have anything to do with having a brain There was no indication whatsoever she was phasing and with collision you could just tell on what side of the gen the survivor was.
The only counter was to gen tap and with latency sometimes a grab still happened.

Was really fun to play with og prayer beads but terrible as surv to go against.
But you just could have played with Spinechill ( was Ultra Meta in this time) and you could go away in time so yeah wasn't even that OP but still a bit to strong.
It's sad to see how they "massacred" spirit so nobody wants to play with her. Had fun games against her
