Will they ever add a way to recconect as killer?
My internet goes down for about 5 seconds every 30 minutes and I get kicked even though my internet comes back up within 5 seconds. I have been DCed from so many games because of this. Are they ever going to add a way for people who only DC for a few seconds to reconnect?

They answered this before with a "due to the short nature of dbd games and how long it takes to reboot the game after you're kicked, it'd be a waste of resources to try"

Not really. Knowingly going into every trial with the premise of potentially leaving 4 other players with a ######### round is kind of irresponsible and selfish, atleast in my eyes.
But that might just be me feeling that despite all online anonymity i have a little bit of responsibility to the other players i opt to play with when i ready up.

I know this is probably meant as sarcasm but yeah, nobody likes such games, neither killer nor survivor. Hence all the rant threads about DC upon first down and the like.
And more BP won't change that fact.

Last game I DCed with 8 hooks and 5 gens up, I don't think the survs were upset.

I'm not DCing 30 seconds into games, these 5 second lag spikes that DC me happen mid to late game. People DCing on first down has nothing to do with my issue.

You said you have no control over your connection blips or when they exactly happen.
And just like the other guys that said on this forum that during a storm their internet has hiccups, i tell you that playing under these circumstances is irresponsible and selfish given the all present possibility of ruining the game for the rest of people in the round. Independent of game or, specifically in DBD, behaviour of the other players in each indidual rounds.

If your connection is like that might want to figure it out as your not going to find many sympathetic gamers on this forum as any sort of dc is frowned upon. i just cant see them adding a way to reconnect making players wait longer then they have to already. Have you tried using a mobile hotspot instead?

Very unlikely. How would they know that you are reconnecting? They would need to let the survs stay waiting in case the killer comes back without knowing for sure.
in your case it might be only 5 seconds but tbf, that’s a rare case and for others it might be more and sometimes you (or others) will not want to reconnect since the dc reason might occur again in a short time.

Doesn't matter if you're winning or losing. Dcing sucks for everyone involved.
Why do people with ######### internet always seem entitled to continue to play? As if the rest of us should just shut up , accept and deal with your constant DCs.

Sure cause people love when there teammate randomly dc mid fight in other games even if you come back maybe we lost an important fight and the game is now a save lose.
Maybe you should try to fix your connection problem instead

Again how hard is it to read. The title even says KILLER. This thread has nothing to do with survivors. No one is going to be pissed if they have an extra 30 seconds to do gens while a killer reconnects.

The killer player could be replaced with a bot, similar to the trapper bot in tutorial. So the game just procceeds with the bot, and when the original killer queues again, they get put into their previous game. Could be implemented with survivors as well. With this, you could even remove DC penalty, bc a player would not be able to queue into another game as long as the previous is not over.

Yeah but they have stated multiple times that they are not interested in implementing bots for DbD like that. I don’t think this is an argument that would convince them otherwise but eh. It’s worth a try I guess..

The funniest thing is I've played games from 04 that could manage to reconnect you to the server if your internet only went out for a short time. It's a DBD thing that the game feels you should be fully kicked and get a penalty because your internet hiccuped for even 0.5 seconds.

Again this is the only game I play that doesn't have a way to reconnect if your internet drops for a few seconds. People like you who would rather defend lazy companies than support improvements to the game are the problem. And there are people who wouldn't mind this, maybe read responses instead of being a useless ass.

MULTIPLE responses on this have stated that its just irrisponsible of you to go into a match knowing you'll get booted, ruining the gme for everyone.
YOUR issue isnt a game breaking issue for everyone and therefore really doesnt need to be "fixed", you're just mad no ones sympathizing iwth you, instead youre just being an entitled ass, who can't take dissenting opinions (even if it is the majority vote) without getting defensive and hostile.

Not being able to play a game you bought feels crappy, but also reality doesn't conform to the way you feel it should just because.
Getting booted and then being allowed to re-join sounds simple, but there's a lot of variables there. How long will be you be DC'ed for? What is going on for the other four players while the game waits for you to re-join? Should they just be frozen? Where do you cut off the reconnection window? It might be consistent for you but not for others, and all that would have to be taken into account when implementing a solution, and if there isn't a consistency there, it's probably not feasible.
In order to justify assigning manpower to a problem, said problem has to be widespread enough to justify it.
The unfortunate reality is that if your internet is chronically unstable, you're probably just screwed here. Feels bad I'm sure, but this is simply the reality for a few unfortunate people. Might just need to accept it and move on.

It does suck, I have over 4k hours and every killer P3 lvl 50. I just moved a few weeks ago and my new internet has been acting up. They sent a tech out and it's still doing this. It's just annoying because it's the only game that actually kicks me when the hiccups happen and I wish I could just hop right back in the matches.

not to mention, if there were a way to dc and requeue, survivors would just dc at the start and jump back in after all the heavy work has been done, if we're talking dc's in general.

This might be a noob level question, but are you hardwired or on WiFi?
I recently moved (well, like 6 months ago), and have the best residential internet package available where I live, but was getting booted from (only DBD) matches on my PC which was connected via Wifi (because it was relatively far away from the modem/router), but that resolved after I ran ethernet to it.
Also in the past, I had a run of frequent DCs in DbD due to a bad cable, which abated when I replaced it.

That may be the case depending on where the DC is during the match but I've had two DCs while carrying the last survivor to a hook and last night I had 8 hooks with 5 gens in when I Dced, I'd be completely fine if the survivors had it down to 1 gen if I was able to reconnect. I have also seen hundreds of survivors DC over the years and I'm sure a good portion of them were actual DCs and not rage quits. I'd have zero issues if the game gave them a chance to reconnect instead of screwing the other 3 survivors over for the rest of the match.

I'm hardwired, the net just drops packets for 4-5 seconds randomly and they don't know why. New modem still does it. And just like with you, it's a dbd only issue. I never even notice the lag in other games and don't get booted from them.

I hope not. For survivors, only in the case their husk is idle. I don’t want bots in the game, they don’t make sense to have in DbD and are terrible in the mobile version.

So if a survivor waits 10+ minutes for a game just to have their internet hicup at the start of a match you would be against, say a 30 second grace period for them to reconnect even if their character just stood there afk? Why?

Bruh. If you know your net is spotty: You have a duty to your fellow players to NOT start a multiplayer game!
Why should 4 other people suffer through your disconnecting? Why should they have to wait to see if you come back?

You know, as long as they don't add bots in.. I wouldn't mind that. Not sure why I was opposed to the idea survivors reconnecting to be honest. As long as it doesn't involve bots. Bad experiences with DbD Mobile. 😆

So if the game had my killer stand there for up to 30 seconds giving me the opportunity to reconnect and survivors could keep getting points and doing their own thing you'd be against that? Some nights I can play for 4+ hours with zero issues. It's not like I'm on here asking for them to remove the DC penalty. I'd like a feature so that games don't end abruptly when they don't need to.

Yes, because that's not playing the game.
If a Survivor sits in queue for 5+ minutes, then gets a Killer who disappears 2 minutes into the match, then gets disconnected 30 seconds later because they never returned; What did they get? Just a waste of time.
And if the Killer returns: Congrats; the Survivors now have a nearly insurmountable lead. Most Killers probably won't even return, or will stop trying, now that they can't win without a MASSIVE misplay by Survivors.
Again; if your internet is bad; You should not be playing an online game where the enjoyment of others hinges on you not disconnecting.

Why would the killer disappear for 2 min? I'm saying that as soon as the hicup happens you have 30 seconds to reconnect or the game ends like usual. How does this hurt anyone? If anything it helps survivors, If you've ever waited in a long ass queue and then had the killer DC maybe this would have prevented that. I don't get why you think 30 seconds is so outrageous when surv queues can reach 10+ minutes...

I said disappears 2 minutes into the match, not disappears for 2 minutes.
The point being that disappearing for 30 seconds can cause an almost upstoppable lead for the other side.
Not to mention that, for people who DO NOT return? Survivors were forced to wait 30 seconds before they were kicked & go right back into the queue. It's just another long wait, for them. All for those niche moments where someone returns in 30 seconds.

It's 30 seconds of getting points that you wouldn't have had, the only downside is 1 person would lose chase points but the other 3 survivors wouldn't be affected. Would 15 seconds be better for you? Just give the person some amount of time to reconnect. DBD is the only game that instantly kicks if my internet has a hicup.

The length of time is not the problem.
The fact that you want a mechanic that only draws out the wait for a REAL match just for your bad internet is the problem.
Why should the devs devote manpower and money to create a mechanic that just makes Survivors wait for 15, 30, 40, whatever seconds before they are booted & need to queue back up, just for you and a handful of people who want to play with bad internet?

Again this isn't just for me, do you think it's fun as killer when a survivor randomly DCs during a good match? I'd prefer they get a grace period to reconnect because a survivor DCing loses killers a lot of points and wastes their time as well.

Ah yes overwatch comp where it normally is a best of three and not only one round?
Same with r6s, rankeds are just 3 minutes the last time i played but are still a best of 5(7?). And in their normal queue you also can't even rejoin but get substituted by refill with solos from the queue.

Because then the filler survivor might be loaded into an inadvantageous situation and also DC and then comes another filler and another and so on.
It happened enough in r6s. People getting filled into an 0/2 match and didn't want to even try to play for a comeback.

Fair. Only thing I want is to be able to explore maps in custom with only myself. If someone wanted to end the game, they could go through the gate as both survivor or killer. It'd be nice to get to know maps more intimately.
