Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

This Game Is More Fun When It's Actually Scary

So when I first bought this game and played the tutorial, I couldn't vault through that little vault area because I was way too scared. I literally couldn't do it, I had to psyche myself up for about five minutes before I did it, I was that terrified.

Dead by Daylight was so much fun when I was genuinely terrified of The Killer, I would properly hide from them, sometimes too scared to sit on generators. I'd love to have replays of those old games and watch me hide for dear life.

Do any of you share a similar history with the game? Or was I just being a spine-tingled scaredy-cat. Thing is, I knew as soon as I took that damn tutorial vault that something was gonna happen.

That's why Sadako is a breath of fresh air, she made me caca my pants when I saw her crawl out of that TV screen in my first match against her. I just hate how casual running from the killer has become. My heart only really pounds like crazy when I've nearly escaped and I'm inches from victory, and also from death's grasp.

Survivors falling on the Killers head is really the scariest part of the game right now.

    On that note.

The ring scared the ######## out of me when I was a kid I used to think about it a lot and the rewatches made it worst but horror doesn't scare me as much as back then . I was excited for Sadako and she looked creepy my first match against her I was waiting to get jump scared and that it's terrifying but not at all this game is not scary at all I even played casually against her for fun I'd sit next to her tv's and wait for her to come out lol or if she's chasing me she looks smol and cute not terrifying at all she did appear out of no where many time but I didn't even blink I was like meh none of the killers is scary even stealth one I'd say the closest thing to scary for me is when you don't know it's a myers match and you stop him stalking you far away or somewhere you didn't notice .

Game was scary before the devs gave every Survivor 500 second chance perks, and added SWF with voice communication.

Dead Space 3 is the least scary because horror games are less scary when you have a friend to help defuse the mood. Now imagine there being 4 of you, like in DBD.

Imagine if Survivor POV was first-person. I would ######### myself every match.

A really good scratched mirror Myers is probably the closest thing to truly scary this game gets. Sadako (properly executed) is up there, but going against a really good SM Myers puts the anxiety in you.

The stealth killers are really the most fun to face, imo.

I wish the Survivor camera was first person.

The fact that Survivors can counter Ghost Face by psychically seeing him around corner they never get near because of the 3rd person camera is the dumbest thing the devs ever did. Still ticks me off.

Yeah Myers is the scariest so far especially mirror myers on RPD or Midwich but Ghost face is more like annoying than scary , Wraith is not scary even with silent addons sadako has potential to be more scary without the lullaby.

Scariest part is when you don’t notice a survivor camping a pallet

It's a pvp game. Nobody is playing with their real lives. The monsters aren't real. After repeated exposition, the novelty wears off and everybody ends up being inevitably desensitized to the horror aspect. It's in the nature of things and there's no dev in the world who can do anything to magically avoid it.
