Would Making Pig Traps Similar To Sadeko Be Better?
Condemned, I feel, is a far more SAW-like power than the Pig's power to be honest.
It forces you, in a way, to interact with it to save yourself from it, so you're always kinda playing with fire here. And, in my opinion, its way more fun to interact with a Killer's power when its a give-and-take system rather than pure chance.
With this said, I think we can make adjustments to the Pig's power so that it still fundamentally does the same thing as now, without relying completely on RNG:
- From now on, reverse beartraps applied by the Pig to survivors cannot be removed until the end of the match.
- Instead, whenever a Reverse Bear Trap is applied, it will automatically begin counting down.
Whenever a generator is completed, a chunk of the timer goes down, counting closer to death. To increase your timer, you must find a Jigsaw Box and interact with it. Every time you interact with a Jigsaw Box, it will refill your timer, but each time its used by you or another survivor, you can search it faster, but the time it gives you back is reduced after each search.
Initial Search: Full Time
Second Search: 80 Seconds
Third Search: 60 Seconds
Fourth Search: 30 Seconds
Fifth: 25 Seconds. Subsequent searches will only provide 25 seconds of time when a box is used up.
Each survivor can only search a box once every 30 seconds before it locks them out and they have to find a new box. This is to prevent cheesing and trolling and having people just using up boxes.
Once all generators are completed, survivors must go to one of the Jigsaw boxes to remove their beartrap. No RNG, just pick a box and use it and it removes the Bear Trap. Then they can escape.
I wouldn't touch any of the Pig's other powers, besides silencing her stealth (The sheath sound) and applying a Deep Wound on Ambush hits to incentivize using it more on initial engagements rather than just standing up.
Some addon changes would be necessary tho:
Utility Blades - Applies the Hemorrhage status effect to any injured survivor with a Reverse Bear Trap.
Face Mask - Applies the Blindness status effect to any injured survivor with a Reverse Bear Trap.
Slow Release Toxin - Applies the Exhausted status effect to any injured survivor with a Reverse Bear Trap.
Rusty Attachments - Applies the Mangled status effect to any injured survivor with a Reverse Bear Trap.
Rule Set No. 2 - Survivors in Reverse Bear Traps can only see the Aura of Jigsaw Boxes after completing a generator for 15 seconds.
Amanda's Secret - Whenever a Jigsaw Box is used, you see that survivor's aura for 6 seconds. Amanda can no longer see Jigsaw Box auras.
I feel like these changes would be more engaging for The Pig than a random chance guesswork.

Personally I just want the rng removed. Rather have it take 3box searches (any 3) to remove it, like every box has a key and you need 3.
The rng is what ruins it for me, everyone gets it off on the first/second search and that mixed with her awful dash meh.
I get at a lower mmr her dash could be good or if you have great luck with rng she may be abit better but for me pig is one of the worst killers

While I agree the RNG should be removed I don't think it should be that way, as it is now searching boxes can feel tense and you just hope it can be that next box or you're screwed
What I think it should be, is 10 boxes need to be searched spread across each Survivor, so maybe you'll get a 3/4/2/1, maybe 4/4/2/2, 1/3/3/3, etc. This way it adds a bit more consistency to her slow down
As for her ambush, no idea what they could do for that

Even that idea you suggested is good, just the rng kills it for me to the point theres no point in playing her.
Maybe I'm different to others as when I'm searching boxes I dont get tense at most I'd be like "let me guess itll be the last box" then I'll either die and go "boring, killed by rng and no gameplay" or "oh it wasnt the last box for a change" lol.
Honestly they could do a few things from the distance slightly increased or just making her move faster crouched would be a start.
Cant say I ever verse pig, if it wasnt for the tome I wouldn't of seen one in ages (like doctor who I haven't seen in months). I'm up for some pig improvements either way

"Adding consistency" to this system for her is a net nerf. And the Pig has had enough nerfs and no buffs throughout her lifetime as a killer.
Her last significant buff was 2.5.0.
This system allows her power to be useful and act as a constant threat for survivors. And leaves room for buffs that doesn't have to dance around stupid RNG.
Not to mention that, your system would break itself with Bag of Gears + Crate Of Gears/Tampered Timer which is the deadly combination for Pig at the moment because it pretty much cheeses you during the RNG.

Yeah, you guys complaining about RNG have to realize that traps don't usually kill, and without some effort, might not even slow them down. It's like Ruin, you have to interfere with survivors to make it effective. They have plenty of time unless you waste it.

its not a nerf, its a change
you can have games where all Survivors remove their trap on the first box, you can also have games where every survivor has to search the last box
Its inconsistent and its not fun having RNG determine whether or not you win the game
This system I'm proposing can still act as a threat, you don't know how many boxes you yourself have to search just like now. Its just now her slowdown can be played with it in mind and you can have a some what predictable outcome. You have a better idea of how much more time you're gonna gain from a more consistent system
Also I don't know how my system would break with these add on? Could you explain?

That addon combo makes searching boxes like 16~17 seconds each and the trap goes pop in 150 seconds. Then there's the x factor of killer pathing, distance between the boxes that also eat away. The rng problem just gets shifted more against the survivor where you died because you weren't psychic. 10 is a lot of boxes to sift through.
I kind of just want them to buff her stealth and dash a little bit so she has better scouting + chase.

This is actually a pretty damn good idea. As it keeps the threat present throughout the match. I was thinking sort of the same thing when Sadako came out. As far as the add ons go, this would give BHVR the opportunity to give her more interesting status effects from her traps and make playing against her feel more like a SAW movie. Giving the killer the option to punish people after interacting with boxes. For instance face mask could apply X amount: Time for blindness after a survivor interacts with a box. Or You could apply mangled after interacting with a box. Amanda's Secret is already one of her most trash add ons as it is. Your suggested change would inadvertently actually make it a viable pick because it would get constant interaction rather than just 1 or 2 uses out of a match in a given game.
In fact a lot of her status effects from traps, utility blades, slow release toxin, could be shifted into different interactions for instance you could have slow release toxin only give you exhausted for X seconds while interacting with a generator. Or have Utility Blades react when a survivor tries to heal themselves or another person.
This would also get rid of the false positive of Rule Set No. 2. <---As people fail to realize that by applying ruleset no. 2 you basically force all survivors to rush gens removing the actual benefit of having the gen pressure that you would think you would get, it does the opposite. The add on could probably get converted into something more useful and have Amandas Secret take up that same positional value during a game.
Not bad OP. Probably one of the best pig game ideas I've seen on these forums so far.
And a happy pig, is a sign of a healthy game.

Her ambush's biggest problem is sound quality. You lose the element of surprise if you're trying to use it for a first hit....which honestly. Most new players this is their first instinct, its just the game is counter intuitive in that aspect. If it were intuitive....well...the new players would be right in following their intuition to sneak up and rush people. Instead you have to do the counter intuitive thing and stand up as you're approaching people to mask the sound.

They nerfed BOG COG, you can't produce the no way out effect you could before with large scale maps. So that points not relevant anymore. And those add ons are....kinda meh atm.

I also think its nice to have a system where you're incentivized to play it a bit more risky.
You could use the first search right away when your timer is halfway down, but then you'd use the only 100% refill on the timer that box has, and another survivor would have to resort to another. So the most efficient play, and also the riskiest, is to search a box as close to death as possible initially to save the value of the Jigsaw Boxes for your team.
That honestly just sounds fun to me.

Very creative and not a bad idea at all!
I would say, the search speeds need to be tweaked.
The boxes could be turned into finite resources that do the opposite in practice (Fast at the beginning, slower as the match draws on) which gives a very small initial slowdown while becoming a greater and greater issue as the match draws on - the choices of survivors, with your idea, matter and can have long term effects on the trial.
I'd like to see some playtests for this.
That being said, I think the only issue is it would take the overall lethality of the Pig as well as the hard mid-game slow down and spread it all out very thin. Having moments to get your bear trap off is a thrill, but having a glut of time that can be replenished can become lackadaisical from lack of pressure from the killer.
It's a slippery slope, but I'd love to see some numbers! :)

The RNG part is just....bad. I been playing pig for god knows how many hours, but her traps are a roll of the dice in the worst way possible. Its a mind game within itself. Because she has add ons like Ruleset no 2 that are counter intuitive to her power. The thing is you WANT the traps to stall people, you WANT people to struggle with those things on their head. But there is no interaction with the damn things. They already removed the ability to use any interesting perks that effect her box skill checks, action speed doesn't interact with it. Its just a survivor gets the thing on their head and they run around and tap 1 of the 4 boxes until it comes off. Thats it, its gone for the rest of the match and you no longer have to even think about the threat of facing pig because shes just a basic M1 killer after her traps are gone.
And no cap....it doesn't even feel good to get a headpop on pig with her current kit. Because in order to force those things, against solo queue survivors its because people didn't care and let the other survivors fall out plus you had to do something to divert, or run and tunnel the person who has the trap on their head. And then they die, and its not because they made a mistake. They did everything they could, they just got RNG'd to death. Survivors don't like it, and deep down most pig mains understand that they didn't do anything to really pressure that kill...(because duh...the timer stops when you're chasing that person you literally can't do anything to force a pop that way).
IMO RNG shouldn't be a thing in this game. It isn't present in any of the other killers kits, so why its still present in pigs is weird.
