clearly, i just got completely outskilled.
kills is an excellent system to solely base mmr on btw.
(before anyone tries to go "oh but theres no gens le-" i do not care that i was facecamped my issue comes from the basis of the mmr system thank you and goodnight)

i mean, under the old system if you couldnt get a single hook before 5 gens were done you wouldnt be red ranks thanks to how the emblems worked but that's neither here nor there
under the old system, i wouldve gotten a safety pip. i healed 2 people from dying to healthy (thank you wglf), did a solo gen and half of another, before running the myers for the remaining 3 and a half generators. that's enough for a safety. but under this system, that's entirely irrelevant; according to mmr, this myers is more skilled than i am. there's no nuance calculated, nothing matters except for escaping or dying. and because ive died, i am less skillful, ignoring the fact that it took him 4 generators to catch me, i did a lot at the early game to help alleviate the pressure and ensure there was no t3 snowball.
at least call it what it is; kill based matchmaking. that the devs even insult their playerbase by calling it skill is what's funny to me, because anyone with over 400 hours could tell you there's more to being skilled in this game than securing a kill or an escape.
that's where my frustration comes from; the system is based off of an intrinsically flawed measurement which is then passed off as "skill" despite me being the better player in any other measurement than "he was killed, therefore he is worse".

I hear you, but I think it would be dishonest to say red rank killers never had bad matches either. I know I did! In other words, they could have performed well enough to get to red rank, then had a one-off bad match.
I don’t agree with MMR system for calculating skill or performance either.

Oh yeah no I did mean consistently only getting 1 kill through facecamping at 0 gens left and 0 hooks on anyone else, ofc everyone had bad games I can't really fault them there.
Just annoys me that mmr is based off of something so horrifically wrong 💫

You don't think its a problem that it took 4 gens to catch you? i know that is only roughtly 2 minutes, but still.
I want camping gone and the hook mechanic changed entirely. But there is no point even bothering with these dev's who seem to be allergic to work and only make incremental number changes and call it a massive update.

No I feel like the mmr system did a wonderful job of matching me and this Myers together, this Myers that took 3 and a half gens of chase time across all of Family Residence to catch me and was most definitely the more skilled player ✨

It did. It kept the campers and tunnellers away from the fresh survivors so they are more likely to stay and spend some money.

He is m1 killer it happens quite often regardless how "skilled" you are.
You can't really do much about so many safe tiles against decent players. Even if he didn't tunnel everyone can run from one tile to another and there's sh all you can do while the gens fly unless it is mindgameable but even then it is 50/50 a lot of times if it's not completely unsafe.
If this was Nurse or Blight I would understand, but m1 is even more of a torture against experienced survivors than playing solo q is imo.
Just wanted to show you a different perspective. I played m1 killers a lot and I understand how disadvantaged they are when I go against them. I wouldn't blame him here even if he lost his cool and didn't break chase, his result wouldn't be so much better if there was no weak link and he didn't run good add ons.
No need to crap on his "skill" in this imbalanced mess of a game.

And my reply was to that particular post you made (that I quoted), where you went sarcastic on his skill. It really is not his fault, nor do you need to put him down below you when this game is a hot mess and he played one of the worst killers.
You can direct your displeasure to escapes/deaths instead. Unless he was toxic.

Had a similar experience two days ago when it came to the outcome for MMR.
A Bubba found a Jake early in the game (first 40 seconds). Facecamped them to deah. Jake was nice enough to struggle. Then Bubba found Dwight, Dwight went down, got facecamped to death. My SWF-Mate and myself escaped, because we did all the Gens (with Dwight as long as he was alive).
The Bubba got a little bit over 6k BPs (while not using BBQ, he only had Perks to annoy the Survivors), while using Add Ons which were more expensive. For him, it was a Draw, he killed two and two escaped.
The two who got facecamed lost MMR, because apparently they are really bad players.
My SWF-Mate and myself won MMR, because we pressed M1. (Sure, someone can argue that it was a good play from our side to do Gens instead of trying to unhook, but pressing M1 is not really "skill based".)
And the game itself was so dull because there was almost no Killer/Survivor-Interaction, yet two Survivors lost MMR and two others won. Just because this system is based on Kills...

This hockey dead horse is so dumb. People act like the dev said DbD and hockey are literally the same thing when all he did was make a simple analogy. It’s like if you watched Forest Gump say “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’ll get” and then complain endlessly that Gump is saying people live in cardboard boxes and get eaten by giants.

But it was actually an accurate analogy. All he said was that hockey players who win games tend to also be good players so winning games is a good statistical proxy for skill. Which is totally true.

It's a terrible analogy. Hockey players alone don't win games. Teams do.
Talent scouts aren't going to ignore good players only because they happen to have teammates who suck.
