You have not Time to Cleanse All Totems If Killer has Anti-Gen Perks
Now people realized NOED is stronger when you play it with slow-down perks.
I am seeing more killers using NOED with Corrupt, DMS, PR, Pop, Deadlock etc. It is more stronger with this builds.
We know CoH will get nerf. We know BHVR is looking Dead Hard, all good changes. But we have another unhealthy perk, known as NOED. But no news for this perk sadly.

Of course. Cleansing Totems to avoid NOED is just really bad and not worth the time. The only thing that happens when you cleanse all Totems is that you might not even reach Endgame.
Especially when paired with multiple Slowdown-Perks. In the end there is 0 point in avoiding NOED when you cannot even complete all Gens in the first place.

How long till players learn that you can just remember where the dull totems are, and then check them if NOED appears
18 -
This exactly why i hate this perk so much. Because cleanse totems, give enough time to killer kill everyone. Or don't cleanse and get killed by NOED at end game. Ofcourse this is just one perk.
They have 3 more slots for anti-gen perks which will buy enough time for kill min 1 - 2 survivors.
Keep all locations at your mind? Travel all map again? Hope killer is not on you? Hope your solo teammates are doing same thing? 0 info how much totems cleansed? Need perk for this info while SWF has free info.
Totally fair and balanced.

It is that hard, you don't know killer has it or not before hit.
All hex totems are rewarding killer for good play. NOED is only perk rewards them for losing game (generators). This type perk should never exists.

Dead hard exits (rewards survivor for messing up)

Did you read my post before write?
"We know CoH will get nerf. We know BHVR is looking Dead Hard, all good changes."
I don't like Dead Hard either. Perks should not reward bad plays. Simple.

It's genuinely interesting to me that so many people's reponse to learning that a certain tactic against a perk isn't as reliable as they think is to call the perk in question unfair and OP, instead of like, considering if there are other tactics you could take. I mean it, too, it's a fascinating phenomenon.
Anyway, don't cleanse all five totems if you don't think you can both get them all, and still get generator progress done. It's a bad tactic.
3 -
It has always been better to clock the totems for later. Never worth the time sink to pre-cleanse.
5 -
"Do bones, but actually don't."
This community can never make its mind up.
6 -
The 2K 2E mantra dictates all matches reach endgame so of course NOED is more popular
"Do bones" is a troll and always has been.
2 -
I'll agree on that.

Most of the time when NOED goes off it’s because survivors plowed through the gens in 4 minutes and didn’t take time to check totems. Even slow down perks isn’t gonna make a difference.
0 -
Why do people behave like this is a 1vs1?
Theres 4 survivors and only 1 killer. Who can´t chase all 4 survivors at the same time. So 14 seconds to cleanse/bless a dull totem, when you see one. Shouldn´t be to much to ask for. Or is it?
4 -
I have to agree. I've run full slowdown builds with no NOED and survivors still plow through gens in 4-5 minutes, because they ignore totems and any other aspects of the game. And with most maps having so many safe areas in them now, you can have one person run to each pallet and pre drop them and they still make it safely to the next tile. It's become where if you spend a minute or longer on chase, 3 gens are already done.
NOED is supposed to incentivize doing other objectives around the map to passively slowdown the game.
Cleansing totems is a part of the match and are supposed to slow it down to balance how fast gens can go even with slowdown perks. If you as a survivor refuse to interact with that objective just so you can slam gens and escape as quickly as possible, don't be surprised when you realize they have NOED 🤷.
I never feel bad about getting hit with NOED or using NOED for that matter. If I'm slamming gens and ignoring totems, I've got no one to blame but myself. Same with killer. If I have a full team of survivors just slamming out gens, I have no remorse when they get killed by NOED. You made the mistake of ignoring an objective and died because of it. Git gud

Sounds like a miserable task for new players.
1 -
NOED is easily dealt with after it activates so no one really cares about it
2 -
And yet, people complain about it, when they don´t deal with it.
1 -
The constant do bones refrain says otherwise. Noed is another perk that is weak to a 4 man swf, but potentially game changing in solo queue.
1 -
Why are you cleansing all 5 dulls? Just learn how totem spawn logic works for every map and remember the location of any dulls you've seen just from traversing map. If NOED appears, just check it later.
If killer is camping: Literally zero pressure on any other survivor. Get rid of NOED, prepare Exit Gates, rescue and leave.
If killer is slugging/hooked and going for others: Literally zero pressure on that survivor. Just get rid of NOED, prepare Exit Gates, rescue them, and leave.
2 -
Nah cleanse 1 or 2, that's all you really need for the emblem points, and then remember the other 3 locations easily enough (if the other 3 survivors in the match don't cleanse those to). Most often I find that if there is even one totem left on the map by the end of the match, I try to make it the one furthest from the doors. This way the Killer would have to patrol very far to stop someone from cleansing it, or they get stuck furthest from the door to camp the totem or a hooked survivor near the totem, giving the other 3 a free escape.
As far as remembering where all 5 totems are. That's possible there are 4 survivors in a match, and if it became common knowledge to just memorize where totems are - then ultimately NOED will never be a problem again.
Trying to keep things short, it's very easy to play around. I rarely ever see NOED in my games anymore.
2 -
I do not have the memory to remember all that and since I solo queue and have no way of coordinating with my team or know how many totems are still on the map I'll just leave the match or kill myself on hook.
Killer can take the 1K.
0 -
You dont have to clean em all there are 4 persons 😊
2 -
I've cleansed all the totems on the map many times even if the killer has a gen defense perks. There's plenty of times to cleanse totems at the start go find them all you can basically get them all in like a minute or 2.
Also this making NOED stronger it's really not cause you can still find in like 10 seconds before you get notified and even than the killer gets 1 down but, not guarantee a kill unless you just can't find in other words though that's the totem being well hidden not NOED's problem it could be the same hidden results with the other hexes as well.

Just wait out the hook timer, someone will most likely figure it out, you'll get rescued, then you can Tbag the killer at the gates together.
If they don't? meh, It's only 1k. That's the nature of SoloQ, nobody wants to put any effort in then they complain SoloQ is too hard.

Cleansing all 5 totems ahead of time has never been a good strategy anyways, and it especially isn’t now as survivors don’t necessarily want all the totems cleansed either as they’re a limited resource for them now as well as the killer. It is typically far more effective to remember where they are and check later. The only downside is if the killer gets a hook near the hex and camps it then you can’t do much.
If you do take the “cleanse all the totems” route anyways, then yeah, the killer having slowdowns will make you less likely to be able to do that and get all the gens done. But tbh I see noed more often on newer killers who don’t typically have a lot of those perks, than I do on more experienced killers who have multiple slowdowns.
1 -
The reason i run noed when i play killer is not slowdown perks, but the fact that since boon perks exist survivor dont care about totems anymore. Thats where the value comes from.
1 -
Noed is horrible vs a sweaty swf but very meta vs solo que or just teams that don’t cleanse totems in general. If we could delete noed and dead head together that would be nice
1 -
Everyone would cry at this day.
1 -
This is great until the lit totem ends up being right next to where the killer hooks someone so then they just camp the survivor + their NOED.
0 -
Except they both have a use and a reason, and those reasons aren't really connected like that. Broadly speaking yes, they are both "Second chance" perks. However NOED exists as a gamble for a significant, short lived power spike at the endgame, whereas dead hard exists to extend a chase in the middle game. Neither requires full removal, or even that big of a rework (in fact there's a thread out now that more or less fixes the biggest issue with both)

It's only 1 second for a Killer to destroy a blessed totem, CoH doesn't need a nerf.
See how that argument doesn't work now?

OK, normally I stay away from this kind of antagonizing polemic post, but this is just incorrect.
To get it out of the way I'm a main killer, I don't use NOED, I just don't get much value from it. I firmly believe that NOED is fine. Also DH is fine.
Does every survivor who uses DH is making up for a mistake? No its not. Most of the time is a premeditated decision made in the knowledge that they have that tool. Sure, sometimes it is used to recover from a bad move, but not most of the time and in this situation almost always a second mistake will be made.
Does every NOED killer uses it to make up for losing the game? No, many use it as a premeditated strategy that comes to fruition in the endgame, with complementing perks and that requires early and mindgame setting (pallet clearing, 1 or 2 hooks on everyone) so you blitz the survivors and snowball.
Getting to endgame with 2 hooks and a bunch of safe pallets still standing is going to end up with a 4e, NOED or not, 1k if the planets align.
Is it used by less skilled killers who play with a mind that they already lost and want to secure 1 kill? Sure, but I don't think it's the majority if people keep saying it's such a problem, because these players are gonna get stomped regardless 9 out of 10.
And hi. Normally I love your posts.

I know.....I have my one survivor I use as my Totem hunter and that's Cool Guy Jake with Small Game. Do I give up one perk slot for it...yes but so does the Killer when NoED dosnt proc. I have broken all totems myself and was able to escape, now this isn't a full proof strat because that's totally reliant on the rest of my team.
If my team isn't the best then I take note where the totems are and if I really feel like being a totem killer then I'll equip a map and boom I'll have all totems marked for easy return Incase NoED.
Now none of my strats a full proof NoED still procs survivors still die but I respect if the Killer has it and just leave when he's dealing with the other survivors.
1 -
It was for me until I made Cool Guy Jake with Small Game and a Map....then that pain was just a minor inconvenience if my team were potatoes
0 -
But that's just RNG of DbD for you....I have seen NoED spawn in no man's land of no hooks and times where it spawned in the killer shack with the basement. It's the luck of the draw, if the Killer is camping just leave, they can't camp and watch doors so just give them that 1k
1 -
Oh, so you're in favor of making hex totems relight able?!
How nice of you!
2 -
No time to cleanse? But a lot of time to boon multiple times... i think this argument doesn´t work anymore as boons show.
1 -
I'd be happy to see NOED get reworked - it's a perk that I almost never run, as it can be completely useless or turn a 1k into a 4k.
That said - I think the devs have higher priority fixes right now.
0 -
To be 100 percent honest, I could see Noed every game and it not bother me it's not a strong perk, most complaining about Noed is from someone who got camped in the endgame while their team either just leaves them or doesn't go for the totem to even try
3 -
....
Bruh...
You don't need to clear every single totem. You can clear 4 and leave 1. If noED pops you just insta delete the 1 and theres nothing you can do to stop it. Its one of the oldest and easiest perks to counter. Hell you don't even need to fully clear dull totems, you can get a handful and as soon as it pops (because its obvious it pops since you can see that you're exposed) you run over tag it, and thats it GG.
0 -
I've found leaving to be the best option.
0 -
But doesn't boons give you a great benefit while cleansing is a time sink that you may or may not benefit from because you don't know if NOED is being run until the very end?
Boons generally make up for the time investment.
1 -
If you get hit by NOED you would think different.
For the cleanse 20 totems tome i cleansed all totems for some games. Some got hit in the endgame - and nothing happens. Cool to see at end screen that the killer had NOED - but it wasn´t there.
I think that is the point - and all complaints about NOED being too OP are not really true. You can decide to cleanse if you want to. The point is they decide they don´t want to do it.
But as boons show - it is not that there is no time to cleanse.
2 -
Just cleanse one ######### totem.

This game in general is miserable as is, and if you truly care about new players this game is fundamentally broken.

I started about 2 years ago i think... i am not sure how i would feel if i start today.

Not worthwhile, if I have time to check the Totems I have time to open the Gates and get out which in the end benefits me way more than risking getting spotted and then NOED'd. Solo is everyone for himself after there is 1 gen left and onwards, its better to play super defensive once the last gen pops and wait until someone gets hit to check if there is NOED then its gates and goodbye.
I used to cleanse all 5 Totems with Detective's Hunch so I was super effective but with the new surge of slowdown perks I find it impossible, its just not worth it unless we are stomping the Killer and even if we are, one bad hook+camp+checking if we can unhook could spell doom on us.
1 -
Exactly...they say "We don't have time to cleanse totems" but will waste time relighting a Boon 5+ times a match
2 -
I've mentioned that in another comment.

Then you just leave and the killer is stuck with a 1k. That easy.
