Is it bannable?? Thinking about giving this build a try but I know it’s really scummy to a lot of players. 😬

It’s a strat. It’s not bannable at all and if you start playing by the survivor rulebook, you are never going to have fun as killer.

I totally agree, I just wanna do it once to see how many kills I get. Not like I would do it often cause it’s so boring.

Don't let the haters stop you from playing something or trying things.
I play Chest Protect Bubba while I am eating sometimes, its boring sometimes, but totally fun when they come, and they always come down the stairs.
Survivors will run you in circles, or hide all match with spine chill .... ruin your mood, in the name of their fun, do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

I’ve been seeing chest protect bubba videos and lol they look like fun, survivors will try to negotiate by trading their items for the chest.

Only thing that will accomplish is getting it changed sooner than later.

And we all know how changes usually turn out, more than necessary stuff usually ends up nerfed, and I'd rather avoid that in this case tbh

Play how you want to play, not how others want you to play.
And to answer your question, no it is not bannable at all.
With a little luck the max you get will be a 1k and at worst a 0k, but that is if survivors know how to counter it.

The addon is completely fine, but there needs to be a way to prevent her from blocking boxes, the same way killers were able to block the hook before. In this case is a bit more tricky because the survivor needs to be facing the box frontly, so I really don't know how they would be able to change this like they did with old facecamping.

I've been reported by twitch streamers for holding the game hostage.
I've never been banned.
Bhvr seems pretty good at filtering out salty reports. It's not bannable.

They could always just do that and make them interactable at any angle but I don't think it would change much. I feel that very rarely are afk pigs actually afk and all that would change is that she'd whack you over the head and just leave you there to bleed.
So we just accept that's just what she can do, or the devs can just change how it works.
I wouldn't mind if they made traps less immediately lethal, but have a consistent effort to take off. Like they only go boom if you try to leave with one, but maybe require multiple boxes to take off (maybe they could have the same activation rules with gen pops) . However, you could also have the option to search the same box over and over but there would be a cooldown between them to entice searching for other boxes.
BUT! I don't know if this would feel good to play against.

imo traps are fine as they are right now. Yes they could make it so you could interact with the box from any angle, the problem with that is that the animations don't seem compatible with that.

Then there’s the problem that the pig player in question is rarely actually AFK, and not just just standing still. They can just hit ‘em off, or worse, grab ‘em.

AFKing defines as refusing to participate in a normal game of DbD.
you dont need to literally be AFK to get banned for AFKing - for example, people that play wraith, cloak and walk around the edges of the map can also get banned for it.
i distinctly remember a post in here from a while back where someone complained about being banned for AFKing for playing "get off my lawn" Hillbilly (picking billy, sending yourself to Haddonfield and camping a house, chasing anyone off your lawn that tries to enter). and if that was enough to get them banned, sitting in front of a box all game should be more than enough to result in a ban as well.

I have no idea, to be honest. Nothing that isn’t just killing the add-on, or extremely convoluted, anyway.

I tried it a few times but it gets boring pretty quickly.
You can try it, they won't ban you for that.
I think I got "lucky" only once when 3 head pops happened. Otherwise I didn't really try to win, I just waited to see who are the unlucky ones.
It was fun at first but it gets old fast.

Perhaps if the game client detects the killer within X amount of meters of a survivor’s last box to search, it lets them re-search the next closest one?

guarantee the key to drop on the second to last box you need to search (and only that box).
that way we kill two birds with one stone:
- Pigs can no longer AFK in front of a box to cheese kills
- we get rid entirely of the inconsistency in her power, allowing both sides to play around it more efficiently. The Survivors would have a much easier time managing their limited time now that they know how long getting rid of the trap is gonna take, while the Pig is guaranteed to waste a good amount of their time per trap, rather than being entirely at the mercy of RNG whether her power actually does something this game or not.

there's a distinct difference between corner hugging Wraith and afk Pig, and it's that Pig is "actively" trying to achieve her primary objective of killing survivors.
What's considered a normal game of dbd is kinda irrelevant when it comes to killer play styles. If a certain play style is unfun, unfair, unbalanced etc. then it's on BHVR to do something to change that. Pigs boxes and addons are working as designed, even if perhaps unintentionally, so they are fair game to use. If it were a glitch or an exploit like Breakdown, then that's definitely reportable.
We're just going to have to deal with it like we have to deal with full bleedout No Hook Nurse/Twins.

Same as chest protect Bubba, Insidious is in the game and literally demands you stay still to use it.
Not AFK at all. Should be called Box Protector Pig, not AFK.
Is Bubba now AFk Basement BUbba? No.

i hate to break it to you, but treasure chest bubba is indeed bannable for the very reason of AFKing.
you just need to get reported enough for doing it too often.
are you instantly getting banned for doing it once? absolutely not. you dont get banned for AFKing once just like you dont get insta banned for DCing once.
but you are going to get banned for it if you do it excessively.

Idling is also against the rules, do you know what idling in your car means? Sitting there with it all switched on and doing nothing,the word AFK is entirely irrelevant if you're going to use the excuse that they by definition have to be away from keyboard, because BHVR could never prove it, but they left Idling in there for people like yourselves who want to use the term AFK so literally.
So yes, loading into a game, moving to somewhere like the basement or sitting infront of the box fits the definition of Idling entirely, the difference being is that Bubba while idling doesn't prevent you from possibly removing a trap that you HAVE to activate to escape.

you mean besides the definition of what is considered "AFKing" in DbD, which this very clearly falls under, and the fact that there is a report option for AFKing (which both can be found ingame)?
i do remember a post on here that was about someone being banned for AFKing for playing "get off my lawn Hillbilly" - in short, pick billy, send yourself to Haddonfield, camp a House and chase anyone off your lawn that dares to touch your property (sounds familiar, no?). But given the forum rules, we are not allowed to discuss bans in that matter and posts like those tend to get taken down relatively quickly - plus the search bar functions absymally bad and i really dont wanna have to click through like 50 pages of discussions from 4 years ago that have nothing to do with what i searched for but happen to have a similar word on one of the 50 reply pages just to bring a point home that you shouldnt sit idly in front of a box all game.
but if youre daring enough you can always test it out yourself.
do keep in mind though that it is going to take a while for you to get banned for it, considering that A: you need to do it excessively, as the Devs dont just ban someone for AFKing once or twice and B: the report system being extremely bad, meaning its rather rare to find someone not only willing to report you for this but also willing to go through the trouble of recording the match, collecting your user data and filling out the necessary support ticket.

I mean, I guess nothing stops you from hitting the report button. But I think it just opens a can of worms on a face camping Bubba that refuses to engage with other survivors. Or trapper that traps the house and just sits at the top of the stairs waiting for the guy in the basement to die. Those aren't reportable and yet they just stand there. "idle"
Also, for what it's worth they did use word "strategy" to describe it.

I think there is a significant difference between capturing a survivor and camping them until death / getting your traps and setting them up with someone on the hook which is entirely fine (both these scenarios explicitly mean you found a survivor, chased & downed them) vs loading into the match with these specific addons and idling in front of the box doing absolutely nothing.

I'd love to see a survivor equal to this strat and see how people respond to it. An AFK survivor strat where you get a free escape just by standing doing nothing and the killer can't do anything about it.

You don't even need a survivor strat to be similar, you and I have both seen threads arguing for survivors to be punished for "holding the game hostage" because they t-bagged in the exit gates for 30 seconds, certain people want to play like this and do nothing for 98% of the game but want survivors deleted for doing something at end game when they've played 98% of the match already and will leave before the timer is up lol.

But you are playing the game. You put reverse bear traps via addon and wait it to pop up.
There is surv equal strat. You can sit in a locker till the end of match to escape.

The killer can actually stop you from escaping in the scenario you described. If the killer 100% could do nothing to stop the survivor in the locker escaping then sure
Now let me ask you:
What's the counterplay to spawning in with an RBT and the boxes of you and another survivor are being blocked by the killer who's not chasing anybody?
