So Why Are Map Offerings Still in the Game?
Aside from Myers with Scratched Mirrors going to Lery's, It's pretty much unheard of to see a Killer using a map offering. But if you just watch a high MMR Killer play like Otz for instance, they get sent to the same few maps over and over every second match. The farm, Badham, Haddonfield before it was disabled, sometimes The Game. The most survivor-sided maps, in other words. New players don't have the BP to have a large set of map offerings at hand, so it has to be experienced players setting out to eliminate the intended random aspect of the game by always sending themselves to maps best suited to them, such as the Myers mentioned above, survivors with Balanced always going to Haddonfield, etc.
It's more common from survivors but is just as lame no matter who does it, and it is definitely the most common usage of them. Just remove map offerings, and if someone wants to go a specific map so badly there's always KWF.

Unheard to see killers bringing map offerings? 😭 Every day.
Nurses, Blights, Huntresses, Billy bringing Mcmillan, Azarovs
Stealthy killers, all the indoor maps.

I agree. One of the most unbalanced things in the game. I wouldn't mind them as a killer only offering, but for survivors it can really cheese things up. I wouldn't mind a offering that excludes certain maps.

I haven't seen it myself, but if so it only adds to my point.

I agree. Map offerings shouldn't be a thing anymore. They have a negative effect on gameplay and choke up the blood web.

I play map offerings on killer all the time. Not going to play Nurse or Billy on Lerys/RPD/etc. They can remove map offerings when they figure out how to make a balanced map that doesn't completely swing the game for one side or the other.

New idea: map offerings now guarantee one map you won't be sent to, instead of guaranteeing a map you will be sent to. Thoughts?

I'd like to be able to set that for every killer regardless, but that's just me being a baby. I think the whole lobby process is the problem. A lot of multiplayer pvp games show the map, and then loadouts are selected. I'd be a little annoyed if I only want to play Nurse, but I can simply take a good killer for Lerys if I know I'm going to Lerys.
Instead, we select a killer, and it's a complete coin flip whether the game is going to screw us over or not. I don't think it's ok that you can load up DbD with the intention to play Blight and then get maps that don't let you use your power. That's asinine.

I surely see more than enough killers bringing in map offerings to get them the most advantage position. Your statement is not right.

A big issue with map offerings is they exacerbate any abusable flaws in a specific map. For example when Boil Over first got buffed a couple months ago and there were spots on RPD and a couple other maps where it was literally impossible to hook someone, it would not have been nearly as frequently seen except that players could use map offerings to specifically force the match into those exploitable maps. The problem with Boil Over would still be there obviously but the number of matches it was a factor would be much lower without the offerings.
That ability to intentionally set up exploitable situations is a huge downside to having map offerings that I think outweighs whatever minor benefit they might have for the game.

That’s better than the current version but still probably not great. You’ll probably just end up with a bunch of killers running the Ban RPD offering and survivors running the Ban Midwich offering or something like that.
The only good thing I can think of with offerings either way is they might give data to the devs over which maps are popular or unpopular. So if your system above was in place the devs could see at a glance that “hey, everybody is banning RPD”, for example, and have some data to actually show it’s not popular for some reason. (Honestly I don’t personally have a big issue with RPD other than that I don’t know the layout too well but I know it’s really unpopular with other killers on the forums.)

That's one of the reasons I like the idea more than a flat out removal tbh. Nobody wants to play on Midwich from the survivor side, or RPD/Game on the killer side? Probably a reason for that let's do some research.
To use a slightly flawed analogy let's look at Paladins. Azaan, absolutely busted champion, has a ban rate of 71%. The next highest ban rate for any character is 43%. Gave the devs some info that Azaan desperately needed to be toned down beyond their initial nerfs, and he's being hit again next patch

When I go in a match with a map offering, my first thought is : "So that's were you have chosen to die."
And if it's "The Game" or "Midwich" and I'm playing the Nurse, I add "You have chosen poorly."
In any case, I'll kill them as efficiently and ruthlessly as I can. (And sometimes one will DC, and it will be the one who brought the map.)
(Well, no, not in MacMillan : I find that one to be fair for both sides.)

Come to think of it, I don’t remember ever seeing the devs talk about map offerings in general and what they think the benefits are. Maybe they have this “we like to see which maps are picked a lot for data” thing, or maybe it’s just they know “a lot of players like to use offerings so they must be popular and worth keeping” (which that latter reason is still problematic if the reason they’re popular is that they’re broken for example.)

To be fair, very few if anyone would be really upset if RPD and Midwich were removed from the map pool

I completely agree that map offerings need changed. However, I do not agree that it is only a problem for killers. It is by no means uncommon for killers to also bring completely busted maps in order to try and get an easy win.

I actually like Midwich as a killer, it’s one of my favorite maps. 🙂

That’x cool, I disagree though
Midwich looks great, its gameplay just makes me less then energised

Probably because it's arguably the best map for killer, it's the smallest map in the game and has the highest kill rate.

They just need to actually balance the maps (which is something that needs to be done regardless of whether map offerings existed or not) so that specific maps don’t have as much of an impact on the game. And by that I mean both in terms of how strong/weak a map is but also how they affect certain killers, eg. I like Lerys most of the time, but I don’t want to play Blight there.

Aside from the look, the things I like about it are
- Most of the pallets are gameable. There’s two or maybe three safe pallets but otherwise if someone drops a pallet you can typically still try and catch them after the pallet is dropped.
- Breaking the walls is actually useful on that map, all the walls either weaken potential loops or just give you better access between levels for patrols.
- The layout isn’t as confusing as some of the other indoor maps, it’s mostly straightforward which is nice if you’re like me and can’t remember every minor detail of every map.
If I had to pick the one dislike, it might be simply that the long hallways can sometimes be a little meh for chases when a survivor decides to just keep literally running forward down them for 20 seconds. Fortunately most of the time the chases quickly go into the side rooms or center courtyard where it gets more interesting.

I’d argue Shelter Woods or The Game are better but Midwich is definitely top 5 maps for killers

I like map offerings.
They're good to finish challenges on both sides and also can be very handy to specific killer builds like scratched mirrors Myers and so on.

I would use every RPD map offering at that point because that map can go straight to hell XD
