What other games do you play? Are they similar to DBD? Same entertainment/reason? Or is DBD life?

I'm just curious what other games people play along side DBD and why? Maybe they have similar reasons, maybe you like something about them you wish was in DBD etc.

Personally I dont play many games similar to DBD, while I do love my horrors (Dead space, evil within etc.) They aren't the same style, wouldn't mind some linked chapters though. I'll probably be playing evil dead alot too loved the beta

Other side games I play atm are tiny Tina's and Halo (dropped dying light till new content)

DBD is the only multiplayer game I play. I generally shy away from multiplayer games because they can be super frustrating and anger inducing and I seem to constantly get my arse kicked by kids who play for 20 hours a day who...oh God...it's DBD!!!

Anyway, I play just about anything that is good. The nice thing about Game Pass is there are a lot of games I may not have considered trying but could because it was "Free" on Game Pass (...including DBD. OH GOD!!!!!).

I just finished RE3make and have been flip flopping between wanting to finally start Dark Souls since it's been on THE LIST for a long time (and with my Discords all going nutter butters over Elden Ring, it makes me want to jump into a Fromsoft game), Cyberpunk (Bought it for $10 months ago and have been waiting for it to stop being garbage on console, which I have heard it has hit that point now), and LIfe is Strange True Colors (Love those games and I was super happy it showed up on GP).

I booted up Dark Souls so there's a decent chance that I will go with that but I don't do a good job of starting games. I pretty consistently start a game, play for 15 minutes, wander away, then come back for 15 more minutes, wander away, then whine about how the game isn't grabbing me (maybe give it more than 15 minutes Tippy? Shut up Tippy!)

Ooo resident evil is always a good one! You excited for res 4 remake?, cant say much about the others as iv only dabbled in them. My misses says good things about life is strange.

How long has DBD been on GP? I own GP but I brought DBD on its console release too many years ago and I'm still here lol

If I'm on another game I'm not thinking too much on DBD tbh, unless theres a bug and I make a joke "it's as buggy as DBD" lol

But iv been at DBD for years, I just wish things was in a better position and I'd play it more

My major genre is roguelikes, for sure, I've racked up like 6000 hours across a handful of different roguelikes. I've never found a game in DBD's general vibe that is anywhere close to as good as DBD is, but I'm always open to discovering a new one...

I tend to be pretty varied, though. I hoard free games from various sources, so I've always got something I can take a look at. Recently, it's been Risk of Rain 2, which I heartily recommend to any roguelike fans!

Yeah 😂 people loved the vote to kick option, I wasnt a huge fan of the run through as fast as possible gameplay so I stuck to campaign and just stuck it on the hardest difficulty. Curious did you play back 4 blood?

Each to their own though, L4D is a classic

Dead by Daylight is my favorite game! I'd say it definitely is life. :)

Aside from DbD, I play a lot of Tabletop Simulator. It is so fun to play board games! I play a lot of horror board games on there, and my favorite is called Camp Grizzly. And of course I am getting the DbD board game!

One game that has a similar feel to DbD in some ways is Depth. I haven't played in a long time because the player base is quite small, but it is quite fun teaming up to be a shark duo with a friend and thrashing on some divers!

I have played a LOT of Dead by Daylight style games (asymmetric, usually horror). I also like Identivy V because of the art style and insane powers.

Outside that, I am working through Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, as well as a game called Chicory, which is about recoloring the world after all color is wiped.

I started playing DBD in February of 2020 so...at least 2 years :D

I'm curious about the RE4 remake but not super curious. RE4 was the start of the new gameplay style so RE2/RE3 getting the remakes brought way more to the table.

I suppose if they do a big story overhaul like they did with RE2/RE3, I'd consider getting it once they do a full blown remake of it.

I play lots of other games but DBD is the game I have the most hours on. At present I am playing Elder Scroll Oblivion again as I got it for free for GOG on Prime and installed it just to have a 'quick' look... 40 hours later...

I used to play a lot of CS:GO and PUBG but the cheaters in PUBG drove me away. I originally took a risk on DBD when I saw Sweet Anita playing it back in 2018...

Ah see res 4 was my first one I played, buy it every time it gets released on the next gen. I'm certainly hyped for it I just hope some controls get changed, they was wacky haha.

It's nice resident evil was added to DBD, wish the zombies was abit more active. Mine just walk into walls and get stuck lol

I managed to get into the beta for VHS, but they pulled access for everyone to do security fixes and whatnot, so I came back to DBD for a bit. It's similar enough to DBD, but feels way better and much more balanced to play. As soon as it comes back out, hasta la vista DBD lmao

Dead By Daylight has been the only game I play ever since I got it, it's way past an addiction at this point, more like a dependance.

The difference in playtime between Dead By Daylight and my second most played game is... depressing, to say the least

So, the current games I'm playing outside of DBD:

    • Bleach: Brave Souls - I'm preparing for 7th anniversary and I need some form of gatcha game
    • Paladins - recently got back into it, normally very fun, lord knows we need more people that know how to even play support.
    • Stardew Valley - Alex and Shane my beloved

    and then obviously, dbd.

DbD is the only multiplayer game I play. I think I like the idea of the killer powers more than I like the actual gameplay, but I stick around because... I dunno, really.

Other games I play are Elden Ring, Dying Light, and DOAXVV. Games I completed not too long ago are OMORI, The Evil Within, and Catherine. Played Animal Crossing: New Horizons a crapton, too. I recently bought Bloodborne and look forward to playing that soon. I used to play Battlefront II, which was the only other multiplayer game I've played since Phantasy Star Online (on Dreamcast), but I specifically only liked Extraction mode and that never got new maps and then it was practically removed from the game. I still miss Extraction mode; it was awesome.

    Currently:

Elden Ring, it will take some time until I finished my first playthrough.

World of Tanks, completing the Battle Pass. Which is actually taking some time, unlike the DBD Battlepass.

Those are the only games currently which I play aside from DBD, but I will probably jump on Code Vein in the near future to get the missing Endings so that I get all Achievements.

I keep playing dbd because it's that game I'm comfortable with. It's like a jacket that's too thin to wear in the snow, but it's too damn comfortable to wear anything else.

Went back to overwatch but it's got a few issues that I keep running into (video memory leak) and it's annoying as #########.

I tried midnight ghost hunt, which is fun, but it doesn't have the same oomph as dbd and the people there are jerks. I'm hoping vhs will scratch this itch for me because honestly, dbd isn't really fun anymore.

I've stopped playing killer almost altogether and now I only play a couple survivor games a night. It's more of a killing time activity than a "fun" one. Unlimited heals have killed the game for me entirely. Survivor is almost too easy now and killer is unbearable with it.

DBD has been my main game for a long time now and probably will be for as long as it exist, also got some other games on the sideline which i play as well such as Payday 2, Killing Floor, Team Fortress 2, Monstrum, Super Hexagon and Red Dead 2 just to name a few.

I do however also occasionally play between other games i don't normally play whenever i'm not playing DBD to grind all available achievements until i reach 100% in that game, after which i switch to a different game with achievements to obtain and the cycle repeats, currently i'm working on obtaining the last 3 achievements in Little Nightmares.

I've played way too many different games over the years, far too many to list. The only 5 games I play be DBD.

Fortnight - no build mode only though

Skyrim - almost 185 mods mostly QoL improvements very few that overhauls something and I have the freedom to do w/e the hell i want.

American Truck Simulator - very nice chill game. Something about i really enjoy, prob because my father used to do this himself as his job. Avoid playing though when I'm really tired or I fall asleep at the wheel and crash.

Lost Centurion - mobile phone game i play during downtime at work or away from home.

I used to play Overwatch, but DBD was largely my replacement for it as I was sick and tired of useless teammates and as killer, you do not need to worry about that, or long queues.

I am on a bit of a break and playing Genshin. That game is the opposite of this, however. We get waifu and they do not nerf everything every patch to cater to very respectable members of this community. No toxicity to entertain yourself with either...

Fallout New Vegas and Age of Empires 2 usually. I am so close to finish FNV.

Subnautica is next on my list. And Hollow Knight as well (Thanks to @Tr1nity )

I am also planning finish Dark Souls 2 again (Best Souls game ever).

Life is good, games are fun. DbD? I am not playing so long anymore, thanks to BHVR for killing fun for me.

  • Kurri
    Kurri Member Posts: 1,599

Like Dead by Daylight? No. But sometimes I take a break from the toxicity in Dead by Daylight, and play Rainbow Six Seige. Which yes, also has a toxic community, butt their toxicity is more like "game toxicity" and tolerable, than the abuse you get from Dead by Daylight and it's community.

I play a lot of horror games on the side, but they are not like Dead by Daylight. I would play Resident Evil Resistance, but not enough players with that game trapped behind Resident Evil 3.

    • Team Fortress 2
    • Minecraft
    • Dark Deception
    • Inscryption
    • Advance Wars: Dual Strike
    • Geometry Dash

those are all the games i am playing at this point in time.

i like to divide those games into two genres:

    1. indie horror (Dark Deception, Insycrption)
    2. games that i can sink a lot of time into and watch myself getting better at (Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Geometry Dash)

though i do also value Minecraft for its sandbox aspect, sometimes just being able to build something with no pressure is great.

Do you have any hope for starfield? It's meant to be an space fallout but I haven't seen much on it. And yeah DBD can have that effect sadly

Well evil dead is abit like resistance just better imo so you may like that on the side of DBD?

Sounding like my misses, well when shes not raging shes died multiple times in a row haha

Cant say iv played many of those but minecraft and it wasnt quite for me so I swapped to 7days to die (basically zombie minecraft survival) and I loved that game, just a shame they stopped console support and only have pc updates

I usually love Bethesda games. Elder Scrolls and Fallout are great franchises. Skyrim is my fav. And they did not show anything for Starfield but Todd said it will be Space version of Skyrim. So i am kinda excited. But i am waiting to see gameplay first. Microsoft probably will show in June.

GP is great, it made me play some games i would never buy. I am waiting CoD games add to GP, probably i will buy XsX for GP. Microsoft just made it great.

And yeah i have faith in Bethesda too. F76 was terrible game but they did not leave it, they tried fix and they succeed. Unlike some companies, they listened their community.

Well I uninstalled DBD a few days ago, but at the moment I play numerous games all at once, switching between them with my mood-

    Currently I'm playing:

Elden Ring. Which I've finished twice now and have just been doing invasions on.

Monster Hunter: World as well as Rise. I've been a MH fan since it first came out, love the series to bits.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. I just like the mechanics of this one, it's just a fun loot and shoot for me.

Daemon x Machina. Armored Core, but anime. Very stylised mech game.

Koikatsu Sunshine. I play this for the character creator- No other reason I swear-

Dark Souls. The entire trilogy as well as the remaster of the first. I'm a From Soft fan if you couldn't tell by Elden Ring and my enjoyment of Armored Core. Sadly multiplayer is dead on PC thanks to an exploit, but I still speedrun them from time to time and I do invasions on my Xbox where the servers are still up.

Escape From Tarkov. Man this is one of the best shooters I've found and I love the realism of it.

Phasmophobia. Is spoopy. Fun. But spoopy.

Nioh 2. I'm part way through my first playthrough of it. It's a more fast-paced souls game, which is why I enjoy it.

Absolver. Best fighting game I've played and am still playing. I like doing duels and building new combat decks.

Bayonetta 1&2. I've started a fresh playthrough on both of these in preparation for Bayonetta 3 coming out soon. So damn hyped for it.

Edit: Forgot the game I'm literally playing right now as I'm browsing the forums: The Division 2. Another loot and shoot that I find fun to play.

My main game remains FFXIV. It is almost the reverse of DBD. An excellent community, good balance, an optimized game, no frustration/annoyance, developers listening to their community... A healthy game, in short. I never play DBD for very long. It's no fun in the long run.

Planetside 2, CK3, Civ 6 and, when it's up, the VHS beta. I'll continue playing all of them alongside DbD. I'll disagree though with the previous post saying VHS is well-balanced currently but it is fun and does have a lot of potential. I definitely picture playing it alongside DbD upon release.
