Console hackers/ cheaters (100% a thing)
I shut off crossplay just because at this point. Most of my games have been much better without constant cheating every few games, but I also had a few experiences with people that are on console, openly cheating/ using hacks. I know there's a way for some PC hackers to disguise themselves as console gamers but that isn't the case here. It was an SWF four-man squad. First, it was the subtle speed-boosts. Next, I noticed the insta-healing. Finally, I noticed that at the end of the match, my Bubba's chainsaw literally did nothing to them (no I didn't have the add-on to prevent an insta-down). Afterwards, I got bombarded with an endless string of messages and alerts.
This is clearly becoming a problem and surprisingly, the team didn't deny openly cheating which is unusual (they were pretty much proud of it). I'd like people to please stop saying that hacking/ cheating is impossible on consoles and actually address the issue. Sadly I wasn't recording the match as I was too distracted to do anything.

Before crossplay was active there were hackers showing up in console games in legacy cosmetics. Unfortunately being on console with crossplay off isn't enough to stop hackers.

Crossplay off doesn't stop cheaters from PC from getting into your lobby.

That's just it. They weren't on PC. They had PSN profiles which I reported to both DBD and PSN. They were openly bragging about what they do. I saved their profile names as well.
2 -
If they were cheating and their on PlayStation Sony will deactivate those consoles.
2 -
Yeah I'm hoping thats the case. PSN seems to be much more strict in terms of addressing threats, cheating, etc. I literally called someone a "Loser" once and received a warning just a few hours later (first offense so I'm not bothering with messages anymore). Behavior should take a lesson.
2 -
Yeah I don' message anyone unless it's a gg or I have a smartass comment I come up with.
If there's proof they'll do what needs to be done.
2 -
There are so many people in the DBD community that always use the phrase, "But I'm on console. I can't cheat." I come from the days of offline consoles when Gameshark and other cheat devices were a thing. Just imagine what people can do now that consoles have wireless internet.

Cheating in console titles clearly never happened before.
2 -
Plenty of people cheat via console. It's not impossible. There are literally guides posted on how to do it.

clearly

I believe they have to pay to get the cheats on that console by someone. I don't know if I'm right or not. I know it's different for a PC.
I don't understand why pay for the console and get the cheats pay to play online only to risk getting your system deactivate. It makes nonsenses to me.

Yet people do it.

Good

Damn that’s strict! I self censored my bad words with asterisks on PSN and was shocked when I got my warning, but this takes the cake.

Yes cheating is possible on consol. Cheating on any platform is possible it just varies by how much cheating is going on it. Playstation and Xbox are harder to cheat on and are less likely to have people cheating; key word less likely. Please think for a moment on the number of players on a console you have run into that actually cheated and you would prob only have 1 or 2 fingers up while counting the number on pc would be far greater because it is easier on that system. This is blowing this out as some massive problem on console. You reported them Sony will destroy them and you will never have to see them again. You can click the little button that says block and stop them from speaking to you.

I heard stories about PSN messaging but I didn't know they were that strict. I guess it's considered threatening or defamatory according to their TOS.

I play on Xbox and there are definitely cheaters if I turn cross play off. I specifically remember one game a week ago where one of the survivors clearly had infinite dead hard, extra speed boosts with no exhaustion, what felt like tier 20 boil over and the perk where you can search chests twice. On the score screen, the perks they had equipped were self care, bond, deliverance and decisive strike. Another survivor in that game was able to bless totems in about .5 seconds and nobody failed a skill check the whole game. My loadout included merciless storm, lullaby and unnerving presence. I guess those survivors just had really good gaming chairs?

Yeah I know
Stupid people that have money to throw out the window.
2 -
They do. I could be wrong but I think it's a bit different for PC players. If someone is cheating on console, they need to shell out $$$. With actual proof I'm pretty sure that PSN will outright ban the associated IP. I remember when GTA V money hacks started years ago. Anti-cheat software automatically detected those individuals and they were banned without any questions asked.

judging by the fact that, you can not cheat on console, i doubt it. there have been instances of pc getting in console games but cheats are obtainable through console. the most that can happen is modded accounts carried through cross progression or last gen to next gen

I guess and its not out of the realm of possible that they messaged just on PSN even though they weren't but it is possible to cheat on console just harder and often has harsher punishment.

Yeah I know getting hacks/cheats on console is different then getting them on PC.
I remember about that in GTA that was something with the moneybags in the armored bank trucks? Right?
If Sony finds out their screwed. I know that console is shut down from online I'm not sure about offline and that account is deleted.
3 -
Yeah it was something like that. I think it was hackers going around dropping money bags in infinite amounts. Rockstar and Sony took it very seriously.

Exactly! I never like to outright accuse anyone of cheating but sometimes it's so obvious. Just a few weeks ago I had two Meg's and Zarina's that all DC'ed because I countered all of their cheats. They were all on PSN but from the looks of things, they were new to the cheating world. They had no add-ons and all of them had Boil Over when I went to pick them up. Fast forward to end-game, none of their perks equipped were Boil Over or anything even remotely similar to what I encountered in-game.
As for my match yesterday, people were insta-recovering from crawling with no active boons or anything that should have allowed for that. At first I thought it was "For the People" since they did have that perk but if that were the case, at least two of the four survivors should have automatically gone into "Broken" status which never happened.

I have played this game for thousands of hours. Moet of those spent on crossplay off. Everytime I have seen someone accuse someone else of being a cheater on crossplay off, they were either salty or didn't understand a mechanic.
I have never ever seen someone use cheats from a console. I have seen people lagswitch, abuse bugs, hold me hostage ect. I have never seen someone do what you are describing.
You are either mistaken or incredibly unlucky to find the one group who decided to go through the arduous task of getting cheats on their system.

I'll admit, I expected them to deny my accusations but they openly admitted to it. They were probably being subtle throughout the match but at the end, they pretty much showed me that it was impossible to do anything to them.
1 -
You took a video to report them, right?
1 -
how do you get hacks on a freaking Xbox??
0 -
I found one of them recording on PS Live so I took the video and reported them.

"M2AF hosting mw2 10th prestige lobby PayPal me $10 for an inv"
I still hate JTAGers for ruining World at War
0 -
Can you post the video with the names' censored?

People make fun of me for talking about console hackers, but hacking on console has been a thing since online gaming has been a thing. Save editing is the easiest thing to do, but more complex hacks that involved external software or plugins are far from unheard of
2 -
Yes, except not only do you need to evade BHVR's anti-cheat, you also need to worry about Sony and Microsoft who will NOT like you messing with their console.
0 -
Evade """anti-cheat""". EAC is really not so different from having literally no anti-cheat. Jailbroken consoles aren't really all that uncommon, just no one talks about them since the only people that do it are electrical engineers that want to play SNES cartridges on a PS2 or something monka like that lol
1 -
Supposedly, BHVR's anti-cheat banned a LOT of people recently.
Likewise, Sony and MS will absolutely care if you jailbreak their newer systems.
2 -
I've always wondered about people being able to cheat on DBD while playing on consoles
It's not like cheating on consoles was a new thing, people used to cheat quite a lot in MW2 and the like way back when. I just figured it doesn't really happen these days due to it being generally not worth it/impractical due to various technical factors. Plus I think you need a PC to cheat on consoles right? To get the software and such
You might as well just cheat on PC at that point but idk.
I find it hilarious how some cheaters can bypass the crossplay function though
2 -
True facts. The people I know that have jailbreaked their PS5s and Xbox X-whatevers really just do it for things like using free cam to find weird things, so just no harm no foul offline stuff
0 -
Yes.
I think if you use it for offline things, it's less likely to draw attention to yourself.
1 -
Yes I just heard about it! I have an update regarding the four PSN accounts. I just checked and sure enough, PSN responded to my reports and so did Behavior. All four individuals were in fact PSN users and their accounts have been permanently banned. Apparently, cheating is a big business though so it isn't guaranteed that these individuals won't be back in some form.
2 -
I'm wondering why these four individuals just decided to openly cheat at the end of a match. It wasn't cute or funny and it just made them look pathetic.

I've noticed it in the past but others always dismissed my claims as false. I even passed it off as a connection issue or lag at times. It usually happens at the end of a match where a hit clearly connects, the survivor yells as if they should be on the floor, and they just keep running. Those individuals are more than likely subtle cheaters and they try to blame things like poor connection.
0 -
That's incredible, thanks for the update
1 -
No problem. I'm glad the issue is finally being addressed. Just imagine how many people have been doing it while claiming "skill." I learned not to take this game too seriously but when it's match after match...
1 -
Most likely you mistook it as "epic game store" players

Wanna see the console hackers on video.
You took a vid most likely. You can post it here.
