RPD needs to be removed
RPD sucks, it is beautiful but so can any map be if it is reworked, and even then having a beautiful map means nothing when it sucks gameplay wise.
1) Some people have more lag problems on this map.
2) To be able to have fun on this map, you have to learn it, otherwise you will just be in a crap maze that is boring. You can either learn it as you play it and get tons of crap matches in which you are useless and ruin your teammate's fun or you can go in KYF and walk around to learn it (which either needs a friend or an alt account, which can be tedious to do or waste someone else's time) and even then you need to actually do the memorization which sucks, why would I want to learn a map in a video game when I can learn useful stuff IRL instead. The point of learning in a video game is for fun, but just knowing how a map is made is boring. Is there literally any other map in which you need to do a tedious memorization just to be able to enjoy?
3) The map has too many op loops and things you can abuse (like a library). It is also incredibly frustrating
4) Lastly, in this map, it is more about which killer you picked than skill. You picked a stealth killer? Easy win! You picked Huntress or Billy? Rest in peace! Your power is blindly multiplied or divided depending on the killer you picked.
5) We already have enough maps for variety, for more variety the ideal is to just add new mini games and & or a story mode.

They are never going to flat out remove a map.

@Johnny_XMan which is a mistake. They move so slowly when reworking maps and it is often a failure, they just need to delete it.
1 -
No thanks. It is a really cool map.
Just learn it. It is not that difficult as it seems at the beginning. A lot of people liked it better with time - maybe because it is a bit more complicated than the other maps.
And no, we do not have enough maps for variety. We need more maps. The loss of Hawkins is already too much.
Maybe we will get tweaks over time. And it is easy or hard for every killer as are all other maps. Good killers can win there and bad killers can lose there.

You realize that you are asking for them to delete resourses they have spent thousands of dollars on right?
I mean, I know you are not in the business of losing money because it isn't your company, but if it was I would think that you wouldn't just throw money away like that.

I enjoy the RPD as both a killer and survivor. I may not always get a 4k as a killer but I still have fun. The map is not difficult to learn whatsoever. It's pretty much identical to the RPD in the RE2 Remake. I'm finding this to be the exact problem... people are so stuck on maps like Autohaven that they refuse to learn any newer maps. Again, it's really not difficult... a few extra doorways and some stairs but it's pretty much the same as the RE2 Remake. DBD needs new maps... I don't like this level of stagnation.

Hawkins would like a word with you.. 😔

Agreed on all counts. I only wish more matches were in the RPD. I'm tired of the same old maps (Swamp/ Autohaven) match after match. I have a long list of potential maps but sadly I'm not being heard.

They should just chop RPD into two or three maps.
- entrance + left side (- library)
- entrance + right side
- Outside RPD (glitch accessible area + the place where the cutscene took place, if possible.)
1 -
I don´t get RPD very often. I like playing it.
And you are completely right with Autohaven and it is Coldwind for me i get so often. They could do sooo many cool maps and are so slow with them.
Hope we get one for anniversary at least.

If you put RPD into a foldout map, the distance needed to travel between points is longer than any map in the game due to the sheer amount of blocked pathways, walls, and floors. Deleting it would be a strong response, imo they should just rework it and make it into 2 maps.

Michaels and Legions seem to do pretty well on that map.

I actually went out of my way to learn rpd in a private server, since although i play billy i like the map from a flavour perspective, and sent myself there 4 times. Twice with double engravings + no slowdown and twice with normal billy + endfury, ruin and corrupt.
My hatred for this map after that experiment was unparralled to any other, Lerys is atleast playable for billy, but on rpd i just get miserable

It is a real shame as the map looks great and they really did a fantastic job of recreating the map. But the real bummer thing to admit is that it just doesn't play well in DBD and I find myself audibly groaning when it loads in and that is whether I play killer or survivor. It runs horribly too with massive FPS drops and I have a very decent PC

I don't understand how there are still people that haven't learned RPD. I swear dude, the devs put a roof on a map and the average player's response is to throw themselves to the floor and cry.
Not only is the RPD a good map, it's noticeably better than a lot of maps in the game. Honestly, would you rather play Shelter woods, Rotten fields, Cowshed, Torment creek, both swamps, or Ormond?
RPD isn't even something new players have to deal with. The strategy you bring to RPD is the same as Azarov's resting place.

How many I gonna do the bathroom tech then?

Honestly it’s not hard to navigate. RPD on dbd helped me get through RE2 lmao

"To be able to have fun on this map, you have to learn it"
Can't believe I'm reading this sentence.
5 -
Comparing it to ARP is exactly what is wrong with it. Terrible map design, has no place in DbD.
1 -
Probably a lot more then just thousands.

Actually one of my favorite maps. It could use some balance tweaks but I like it.
3 -
I don't mind it at all being a huge RE fan that knows the basic layout. I just instantly get tilted when I see an RPD offering because it's always some troll Boil Over/Exponential squad that just wants to abuse the library and make the game miserable. How anyone finds that fun is beyond me.

I'd rather they just fix the lighting on RPD for lower graphics settings and the map is pretty much perfect. It's like playing Doom 3 on medium settings because for some reason they cut out 80% of the lighting on that map.

Thank you! I just had a 4k as Bubba. It just takes time to learn that you can't go swinging everywhere in the narrow hallways. I can't tell you how many survivors I've cut-off just for knowing the map. (Me: "Oh good you jumped there? I'll see you downstairs.") I get yelled at for "cheating" when in reality I've memorized the layout thanks to RE2.

I know the layout by memory and I do not give up nor dc on the map, yet I hold the opinion is the worst map on the game, pallets are either useless or god pallets, mindgames on that map are boring, fun killers like billy or blight have the fun part of the power destroyed.
Furthermore exit gate placement is bad, the map has exelent boon placement so COH will be usable in multiple floors while many structures limit the killers access to the boon, windows are useless as only one of them is safe and it leads to an incredibly safe loop.
The critisism of RPD isn't just made by people who don't know the layout, the map is a horrible designed map for a match of dbd.
I already commented this on many RPD threads but people never actually talk about the horribke game design and always just blame people not learning the layout even tho looping on RPD is horrible.

I really hated it at first but the more I played it, the more familiar I got. I'm still not 100% familiar (maybe 70%?) but I'm slowly getting there. Eventually I'll know it like the back of my hand I'm sure lol and I've actually faced a few Huntresses on there and got my butt kicked, especially down the long hallways

Ummm hawkings............................
0 -
Agreed. Especially a licensed map that they put more work and effort into than the Survivors and Killer that it came with...............
0 -
Devs should put their energy into making more content, not removing content they already produced.
Hawkins may not have been everyone's favorite map, but the destruction of art and creativity is tragic and horribly misguided.

Hawkins?
But yeah. I would hate to see RPD go. I love that map so much Survivor and Killer
1 -
i like rpd. as surv it took a long time to work out where gens would be and there is one particular part of the map i hate cuz i keep running into a dead end but the map looks super cool and sure, some killers have a harder time on it but thats like the same with all maps. its a unique looking map and i would enjoy more maps like it.
running through a cornfield where survs disappear if they make any turn at all is not fun 5 times in a row

Map ideas:
Shopping mall, office building, movie theater, abandoned village, derelict building, opera house, an actual hospital (similar to Lery's), ghost ship (or even a cruise ship), cathedral, etc. I could keep going on how many potential ideas I have for new maps... the same old maps have people way too comfortable on both sides.

I said FLAT OUT, meaning for no reason.
There was a reason with Hawkings. They removed the characters too if you remember.
0 -
Well I mean, that was forced removal because Netflix said no, if it's their choice, they'll never remove a map
1 -
play the resident evil remasters and you'll learn the map REAL fast. they wont ever just get rid of a map, so everyone complaining about it either need to suck it up or swallow their pride and just learn to deal. it's really not that difficult of a map to play, especially for resident evil fans. I've played the map with a plethora of killers and i've never had a major issue to the point of having a melt down.

I don’t know what you mean I love this map and they can’t just change it, it’s based off the game plus it’s pretty easy t ok learn the ma ok I have never played a resident evil game and I learned it in like 2 weeks
1 -
I hate RPD with a passion. I appreciate the hard work that went into making it, but it’s pretty clear there was little regard for the player experience when the map was designed. It’s just miserable to play as killer (way too big, abusable hook dead zones, multi-level boons, etc) and as survivor (I always get lost and can never find gens).
2 -
Learning a map doesn’t make it a good map
3 -
I never understood this logic either.
1 -
I’ll give you RPD in exchange for Lery’s…deal?
0 -
It will be if they lose the license. If not of course it won't and it should not be removed. They can make a few changes, it's a beautiful map and it's RE for gods sake. It has to be in the game.
1 -
But they are gonna flat out remove a killer? About time, start preaching that saying “remove “killer”” isn’t gonna work just like maps
0 -
I’m guessing because there’s no actual good qualities for the map they can use to prove their point
1 -
.,.

it's a licensed map and has to approved to be removed, not gonna happen.

I said it before and I'll say it again... I'm not understanding the "hate" for this map. The only two perks that can cause an issue on the survivor side if multiple characters are running them are Iron Will and Shadow Step. I had a sneaky SWF who thought it would be cute to mess around and this is why map memorization helped. It was down to her and another Nea and I knew at that point one of them kept setting a boon. Rather than moving to a different boon, one of them kept going to the STARS Office. me being the huge RE nerd that I am decided to use the side staircase (only in DBD not RE) so when Insidious kicked in, I was ready. Not only was she annoyed that I outplayed her, but I found her other friend hiding in an uncommon area just waiting for me to DC. Yes, shadow step is a big problem on this map but I also enjoy the challenge. I had a huge advantage simply because I memorized the layout.
I also see complaints about the back exit and how it changes location... again, not a big deal. I never outright jump onto a generator without scouting the map to an extent. As a survivor, I count at least 4 different hiding places. In terms of both sides, just knowing the map will give you an advantage. Surprisingly, I get a lot of 4k's on this map but there are times when I can't get anyone. And you need to remember something else... you may just be going against people that are cheating. As a Killer, never walk into a match expecting a 4k and as a Survivor, never walk into a match expecting everyone to escape. Some players are skilled and coordinated and some aren't but like I said, some people pretend to be skilled when they're actually cheating. Do with that what you will.
1 -
That's a completely different situation.
0 -
Is it though? Maybe DbD can lose the RE license too.. lose, the license, save the game.
Haddonfield, also licensed, is being rereleased soon entirely reworked. One could hope something can be done about the disaster that is RPD.

I think they learned from that and make better deals in the future.
