question on killer strategy with pallets
Currently, i have a strong preference to break every pallet that gets thrown because it denies a stalled loop or a safe sport for a future chase. but i am learning over time to ignore the small pallet loops that can be a benefit because they are mind gameable but to always break the long pallets.
but min surv games, i notice killers often dont bother breaking them.
what are the best strategy's for pallets if your not a good looper as a killer?

If it's a strong pallet break it.
If it's a unsafe pallet mind game it.
If the survivor drops and run chase them down.

Never respect very safe pallets. Good players will get additional loops when you hesitate. You can fake the break animation to see if it can get a survivor to move away, but this doesn't work for me too often. I am on console though so the movement probably doesn't look as crisp.

I break them. Probably not the best idea but when i see streamers mind game for some time and i doesn´t work i think it is faster to break it immediately.
If the game takes some time it helps later on.

Mix up respecting vs not respecting. When I say respecting, I don't mean you should pause for 3 seconds. Fake like you're charging through and veer off at the last second around the short side. Other times I'll charge straight through. And other times I'll tap M1 right as I'm in stun range if they're camping the pallet to get a cheeky hit before the stun locks in.
As far as breaking them, it depends on your positioning, the survivor's positioning, and the safety of the pallet.
If it's unsafe, don't bother. You can look down to fake a pallet break and then continue chasing.
The big thing is to minimize the distance the survivor is gaining when you do break the pallet. You want to zone the survivor away from the inside of the map if possible. That means putting yourself on the inside of the map and the survivor on the outside. I also like to set up the pallet break first by moving the survivor back in line with the pallet if they're trying to cheat away from it before I break it. The little things add up.

I try a quick mind game to see if they bite, if not, I just break. If they look sketchy, I will keep playing the pallet. It works the vast majority of the time. I have only been screwed by it a handful of times as opposed to all of my free downs.

My opinion is a little biased because I only play Trickster and this gives me an advantage in regards to certain pallets. But typically this is what I do:
- Infinite loop pallets with low walls: don't break until I use my power and chase ends
- Infinite loop pallets with high walls: immediate break
- Small loop pallets with high walls: attempt to mind game, break if it doesn't work
- Small loop pallets with low walls: ignore completely or break whenever I have spare time and come across the pallet again

It always amazes me the people, especially streamers, that will say that kicking a pallet or a kicking a gen is a "waste of time", but will spend a full minute trying to mind game the same dropped pallet.

You generally want to break most pallets. Just because you didn't need to break it during this chase doesn't mean it won't be used against you in the following chase through the area.
I have a strong tendency to abandon a chase after breaking a pallet or two so the area is a lot more unsafe, but if they're running to a dead zone I'll down them. Suddenly an area with 6 pallets quickly becomes 2 pallets and there are now 4 deadzones.
Against stronger survivors you'll probably want to use your ability to close the gap but for most 115% killers that's a steady strategy.

Try to break as few as possible. You literally don't have enough time to kick one.

"I can mindgame this!"
"..."
"Lets just break this pallet"

Just blink through it lol - Nurse Main

The Nurse version of "I can mindgame this" is when you try to prediction blink a survivor who has their head down at the ground in front of them, and then they take the most ascended pathing and make it halfway across the map

i mean, you dont have time to play loop the pallet on each of the 20 loop spots per map

Optimal strategy is probably to leave the pallets you aren’t worried about to save a bit of time getting back into a new chase. Personally though I just break all the pallets mostly because it’s fun breaking stuff. 😄 Plus I’d just as soon err on the side of having no pallet versus having a pallet that’s a problem later.

It depends on if you're playing the short game or the long game.
If it's more important to pressure survivors in the short term, forget about breaking the pallet - chase them onward.
If they insist on looping a strong pallet, break it. when they're on the correct side.
If the survivors are going full bully squad, brute force and break pallets as fast as possible - those dead zones will make their cocky late-game plays super painful.

But it wastes too much time to break even one of them. So you have to only break the god pallets basically.
