Is this why Boil Over got nerf?
Just ridiculous. There's nothing wrong if it would be normal gameplay but obviously it isn't and was planned...

Why didn't your game crash in the loading screen after seeing the Map Offering?
18 -
- I wish they’d get rid of map offerings, they just exacerbate flaws in the maps by letting people force the game into abusable scenarios
- On the flip side DC penalties should apply to people disconnecting on the loading screen. It’s a total waste of all the other players’ time. You don’t like a map, tough, play it out.
- Are there still unhookable areas in RPD? I thought they tweaked the library with an additional hook and also nerfed the falling bonus on Boil Over to mitigate that. (Not that Boil Over can’t make you sometimes miss a hook on any map, and in RPD hiding the hook auras can be effective. But are there still literally unhookable spots on that map?)

The issue that got boil over nerf was how boil over affected controller movement.
This is just a swf squad taking advantage of tools to deny you hooks.

And “bringing solo Que players up to the standards of SWF’s” is supposed to make the game more balanced?? Pfft yea right. Solo’s equip flashlights just because they see others bringing in flashlights- imagine when they can see their teammates sabo build in pre-game lobby, and all they have to do is select their sabo load out. Smh.

Yeah, I don’t get why they don’t just put a stack of books or something blocking off that stairway to that landing, that whole section seems to be an issue.
1 -
Give me a D/C penalty, I'm not playing against Survivors who use Map Offerings
2 -
I resort to camp in RPD if ######### goes horribly wrong.
0 -
Well that's the goal it seems. And then you can wait a year or two for killer to get "balanced" according to the new power distribution.
This would be my biggest fear if i would still play, survivor finally getting standardized to some degree at swf level and then kicks the glacial pace of behaviour in and killer end up with the shirt end of the stick for a long, long time with the promise "we see the issue and are looking into it".
1 -
First problem is that you didn't drop the first survivor that you picked up on top of the library and slug them, since you immediately should have known they were going to abuse the flaw in the RPD library.
It's the same as survivors having to face a AFK Pig, you have a way to win, you just have to adapt your play style.
0 -
Slug against Soul Guard and new recovery boon? What makes you think I knew their ALL perks when I entered the game lol
1 -
You aren't playing hexes so Soul Guard is irrelevant. The second you pick up a survivor, you knew they had boil over. Since you go to the forums, you also probably know that RPD has an issue getting survivors to hooks if survivors goes to the top of the library. If you didn't, then you would quickly learn that is an issue when you can't get a survivor to a hook.
So, at this point, you should have changed your strategy to slugging.

Simple solution if they get up hit them rinse and repeat until bleedout and if there are two just go back and forth until one decides to leave the area and than focus the one out if things go right you can get a 2k on rpd and the people with boilover get to lay on the ground for most of the match

For all of them? Like some maps I get, but do you drop for a MacMillan offering?
1 -
Yes. Shelter Woods is a thing, Coal Tower can be messy, Ironworks Of Misery and Groaning Storehouse have a disgusting main building. Shelter Woods might be the only passable MacMillan Map, and that one sucks for Survivors
0 -
Seriously? You're complaining about Coal Tower? It's probably the most balanced map in the game.
1 -
No, it has a a good set of tile spawns, T/Ls chaining into one another, along with junk tiles/jungle gyms. The main building is crazy and has God Windows next to Breakable Walls, forcing the Killer to waste time.
You want a balanced Map? At best I can give you Dead Dawg Saloon, and that one is not exactly good for Survivors
0 -
Didn't Dead Dawg have the highest kill rates? Hardly a balanced map.
1 -
I'm pretty sure it was Midwich
0 -
Whoever ok'd RPD should be fired. Seriously. This map just doesn't work for Dead By Daylight. Imagine making a map for Halo and it's just a 2x2 box, or making a Mario map that is just a flat plane with no platforming. It's egregiously bad, and shameful design for anyone who takes pride in their work as a level designer.
2 -
So you can choose a broken and scummy playstyle (based on a map) but when survivors choose a playstyle via a build and items they actually have to bring, you complain? Ironic isn't it.
0 -
And the upstairs of most maps in the game including; Crows, Ormond, Dead Dawg, and Crotus Penn.
1 -
Think about playing DBD remember RPD exist... maybe tomorrow.

So if a killer got 4k camping the basement with monstrous shrine we must nerf it?
0 -
It isn't irrelevant because they had Boon: Exponential and Soul Guard gives Endurance. Slugging was what I did. What else did you expect? You expected 4k? or even 1k?
And no, I didn't know about library hook issue.
0 -
2k against those builds? Sure, nope. Maybe 1k max.
0 -
Ok, I would actually like to see the match at this point. There's a lot of information missing.
Generally, with this load out, I would expect the survivors to run to the top of the library at the very end of that narrow balcony and get downed there. If that is happening, then a killer should be able to body block other survivors from getting to the downed survivor and just let that survivor bleed out.
I guess the survivors had Boon: Exponential setup somewhere close the balcony.
In this situation, it's not Boil Over causing the problem, it's a coordinated SWF using the lack of hooks to their advantage. The same thing would have happened if they replaced Boil Over with Sabotage.

If they do want to play in ######### map with their broken builds, then BIG YES. Don't worry, I have Franklin's for people like them and possibly for people like you.
0 -
I don't know what game you have been playing. I have seen 0 Monstrous shrine campers and many library abusers in the past. Also, side note, isn't Monstrous shrine specifically made for basement camps lol Just check out that perk's benefits. But yeah, if you want to nerf that horrible perk, go ahead, I don't use it. I don't know why you brought up that worst possible example, tho.

Bringing solo queue up to the bar of SWF just refers to information. Which is to say solo queue would get the same amount of information a swf gets via communication.
0 -
Against a SWF with those sorta builds on RPD there's not really anything you can do. Slugging is the answer against Boil Over/Breakout/Sabo plays in library but with Exponential/Soul Guard you can't slug. You can try to keep boons snuffed but there's -two- Expo booners so there will always be one rebooning.
You'd really have to be a good Nurse or Blight and down people before they have time to setup boons, and even then I dunno.
2 -
First there was 1 survivor, I tried to hook her, she wiggled out. She ran back, I followed her, downed her. She recovered to injured state, I didn't know she had Endurance, she looped me a bit on the top of the library. I downed her again. Then 2nd survivor came there, for reasons I don't know. Finally they stepped on my ######### so I could Cage at least one of them, I think I Caged both tbh. Then I just tunneled them, but at the end of match it was just W holding contest. I Caged them so I can keep the match running and make progress. In the endgame, third survivor ran to the library, I didn't know her build at all, thought it was just her last resort to run library...so..pain started again..they outplayed me with bodyblocks I guess

It sounds like you were screwed as killer. It was an SWF that came in with a specific purpose and goal in mind. That's not a perk issue, it's a SWF with communication issue. A SWF with communication and goal in mind will make a plaything out of about any killer-player. The problem is, you can't balance around coordinated-SWFs without screwing over solos and normal SWFs. Coordinated-SWFs are on a completely other level. You have to remember that there's a lot of SWFs that just friends playing together that don't even come close to the power-level of a bunch of great players forming an SWF with a specific purpose in mind.
The best you can do is send them against high level Nurse players.

Seeing what everyone else is bringing in the pre-game lobby is an example of information a swf gets via communication. I’m not saying that it’s definitely going to happen, but it does fall under that umbrella and can always be a possibility. But your’e missing the point- SWF’s are headaches for killers. Bringing solo’s up to “their bar” is going to give them more headaches. Like someone said above, you know its going to take even longer to make the necessary changes to get killers to compete with that. They’ll prob have to sit for a year before anything is done. All speculation of course, but we just need to look at history. For example, keys vs. moris. No reason why they both couldn’t be done simultaneously. And lets just say there was some technical/mechanical issue with nerfing hatch, they could have held off on the Mori nerf until the hatch nerf was ready. But thats not how they operate.
2 -
That was midwhich, dead dawg has a really good main building and some loops around it that could last you awhile, but if all the walls are broken, it becomes killer sided.
1 -
Agreed the match needs to be seen, but couldn't the survivors set up exponential around the library, maybe not even in it if the range reaches, and use the small amount of endurance from soul guard to take a vault and escape a possible slugging situation in the library?
