Matches being "sweaty" is entirely in your own mind.

If you want to "not sweat" and just relax when playing, then why does it matter what loadout the other side takes or how seriously they play? You aren’t concerned about wanting to win or try to that same extent anyways. It is unreasonable to expect you should be able to keep up with people trying their best when you aren’t at all. If you want to play laidback, you should accept you are going to go against people who try, and that those matches will more likely end with you losing. Just cause you don’t want to try doesn’t mean you get to hold others to that standard. It is genuinely insane that some people use "sweaty" as a pejorative. "Darn, how dare they actually try???"

If you want to go for wins, then you would be playing seriously to win and/or meta builds. Obviously, you should also expect there are opponents who want to win and will do the same.

There is no such thing as "sweaty" matches. A match is only ever as serious as you yourself see it to be in your own mind. If you want to win, play to win. If you don’t want to do that and want to chill, then you don’t get to have your pie and eat it too. Accept you will probably lose more often, and that you will end up against people that try.

"I just wanna chill but I’m forced to run meta because I go against (meta)" No, you aren’t. You for some reason care how the match goes even though you literally don’t want to try. That is a you problem and exclusively a you problem.

There is def sweaty matches. I've seen decent survivors do everything they can to not go down like body blocking or pre dropping against even m1 killers then act all good. You can't tell me that's not someone exceedingly trying while I'm over here just trying to enjoy some clown or ghost face.

I would've agreed to the post until i read the last part.

Running certain perks on survivor affects the gameplay a lot more than running certain perks as killer.

I find myself saying "oh, I'm getting tunneled" far more frequently than "oh, I'm getting genrushed/can't keep up with gen speeds" all while not running full meta builds. The point I'm trying to make is, wanting to play chill as survivor still makes me want to actually play the game for longer than 2 minutes. Meanwhile I can play however I like as killer and games will last definitely longer than that.

If you’re just trying to chill and enjoy some Clown/Ghost Face, it shouldn’t matter at all. Why do you even care what some random you will probably never see again says?

Yeah, that’s fair. But you can do stuff like take partial or full meta but play chill, or just work on practicing looping and whatnot so you last longer even when tunneled, etc. The fact there is the annoyance with being tunneled means you do want some say over the match even if to a minor extent. I don’t care what I run as survivor, because it doesn’t bother me at all whether I get tunneled or not. I’m playing for fun and I have fun regardless no matter what.

I never said anything about a random talking but it is annoying trying to chill and the most interaction you get is someone pre dropping or using exhaustion when you outplay them.

Yeah idk about this post. I ran into a dedicated bully squad earlier doing that locker flashlight BS which basically has no counter at all. Then since they were all swarming me on RPD as Nemesis eventually the zombies closed in and got them all.

Then I was told "What kinda killer needs AI to do their job for them wah wah" after they pretty much exploited locker flashlight saves and one of them then admitted to being a nemesis main???

Weird game, they only got 2 gens done but I probably got robbed of a hook like 5 times. You would have two people sitting in a locker next to eachother and you just cannot open them, so dumb. Luckily it's only the second time I have run into a squad doing that.

Flashlight macro's, teabagging at every pallet, etc etc etc and I guess the sweat is just all in my head

Then you don’t want to only chill. You want some degree of say over how the game goes. So then either play a bit more seriously, or get over it.

It's not fun to anybody to get dumpstered over and over again because they keep getting matched with people playing at maximum efficiency while they're trying to see if they can get their trail of torment build to work

Then you can go for the survivors not doing the locker stuff. And if you’re playing to chill, it shouldn’t matter what they do or say anyways. You aren’t trying to win or play seriously.

It’s entitlement to expect other people to not be serious just cause you aren’t. Either they can get over themselves and accept they will go against people trying, and test that build in a forged-by-fire method, or they can play more seriously.

I dont get you... like is it not possible to chill and be able to see sweaty players in your mind or something?

  • SuzuKR
    SuzuKR Member Posts: 3,910

If you are playing to chill, what the other side is running or how seriously they are trying is irrelevant.

I wouldn't call it entitlement. I think what they're asking for is a working matchmaking system where you could play with builds like that and get matched against players that aren't looking to finish the game in 4 minutes or make it as miserable as possible. The system in place doesn't work at all. I could lose 30 matches in a row with 4 escapes running a weak build and I'll get matched with the same efficient teams over and over again because BHVR will not make them sit in a queue long enough to be matched with someone on their level. That doesn't seem like entitlement to me, it's pointing out issues and hoping the developers will fix them.

I mean yeah ideally, the game puts people that want to try together and people that want to chill together. But it doesn’t yet, and people need to get over themselves and quit expecting opponents to match how they want to play.

Yes I should just sit back and be bullied by people exploiting. That's a good idea. Let me just leave them to do gens for free, and run all the way across the map to 2 more survivors who might potentially just start doing it over there.

Heck no, I facecamped and tunneled them off hook. The entire match took place around the RPD god window which is why after 2-3 minutes both zombies were there and started killing people for me.

Or they could just play another game and not bothering to play killer, which a lot of people do. It seems more like entitlement to tell people with legitimate grievances to just shut up and get over it. That kind of attitude will contribute to this game's downfall. The developers can do better.

Is it even possible to "chill" while playing killer anymore? I guess I could be chilling while standing next to a hook as Bubba, that's pretty chill.

The thing is, it simply isn’t fun to try and use a more chill build and then get met with full meta from the opposing side, especially as killer when not running meta typically matters more (vs. if one survivor doesn’t run full meta, but the other 3 do, then the majority of the team is still running meta).

It’d be different if there was separate ranked vs. unranked modes, or if the game was actually balanced to the point where meta builds weren’t so much better than almost everything else, but that’s not the current state of the game.

I legitimately believe that while there are some players who just use the strongest stuff for the sake of using the strongest stuff, there are several players on both sides who don’t really want to but do so simply to keep up with what they expect the other side to have on average.

But what about when we actually do try and care about winning and we use meta? Isn't that sweaty, when we're doing that and can't win or barely win because of how strong the survivors are?

If people care about winning and one side plays the meta, you need to match them; be as efficient as possible aka sweat. Telling people to either not try to win or conform to the meta... is exactly the point that people are trying to address. There are no real alternatives other than outclassing your opponents, which guess what people don't really want either... domination is cool and all, for a couple of games, but most people want to have some sort of challenge. It isn't that they need a 100% win rate either, but a more even match... not just a stomp one way or another.

The OP doesn't understand that wanting to win and only playing meta... aren't one and the same.

A bit agressive but I agree with this statement

I agree too. There are many games where I just go chill. Yesterday I was playing Freddy and I was chasing a Jill the entire time. Playing hard to get lmao. I got a Jonah when the gates were open and bloodwarden activated. It was pretty funny as the Jill was just standing by the exit and she dropped her item it was funny. They got Jonah got off the hook and the rest of the team left. I downed The Jonah again and carried him to the exit gate. Point is that both sides complain about games being “sweaty” but that only happens when you are constantly winning yourself. The more you win the better the players are gonna be and your just gonna have try to match it. Just turn of the chat or your messages that helps.
