Being trapped by killer
Is there any way to get around being trapped by a killer?? I don’t want a dc penalty or to lose points/pips, but it’s the end game and everyone is dead, and so the timer won’t start. He’s sandbagging me and I can’t go anywhere. I have like four crows. So annoying

Take a video and report them, then DC.
This is bannable.

If you are the last player in game and the EGC hasn't stared, it's bannable. (Taking the game hostage : do as Pulsar has said)
Otherwise your teammates need to finish the gens and leave (or It'll be over in a couple of minutes). (For future reference)

It’s still bannable even if you are not the last survivor, as you can’t control what your (possibly random) teammates are doing.
though in EGC you are right, there it’s ‚okay‘

There is a possibility to finish the game so it's the teammates who are keeping the game hostage if they don't act.

Sorry I am just repeating what I have seen stated from official side. Bodyblocking one survivor during the match for a long time is reportable.

Even if the game can end, holding a player hostage for some time to not let them participate in the game is a bannable offense.
Sure, if you block a Survivor in a Corner with 5 Gens up, the game can end. However, the Killer is still holding one player hostage at this point, so it is a bannable offense.

You'll have to link to what you are reading because I don't see it on : https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402529064212-What-offenses-are-bannable- .
Again, not on the list. It's like doing a four slugs and letting everyone bleed out. "Not participating the the normal game" but still will end.
Taking the game hostage is when the game litterally cannot end by some action.
Even survivors hiding for 15 minutes doesn't count if they end up doing something else (e.g. finally doing gens)

Here we go:
Can we stop defending doing stuff like this for once? Seriously, I really hope that people who go like "iT Is nOt hOlDiNg tHe gAmE HoStAgE If tHe oThEr sUrViVoRs cAn dO GeNs" dont really think that it is a cool thing to block one player in a corner for a longer amount of time.
But every time this comes up, people say it is not holding the game hostage if other Survivors are still alive. Every. Single. Time.

Thanks for the post. I guess i will save it up as I only found a screenshot of it just now :)

Thank you. They really need to put that in the official definition because the way it is now, they specifically say that body-blocking isn't an offense. (And I think I've seen the opposite said a long time ago, so at least it would be publicly official. ) Maybe it should be put in the suggestions.
Being a dick isn't bannable. It it was there are a lot of survivor teams (and killers) who would have be banned a long time ago.

Update! Thanks guys, I ended up taking a clip and reporting it. It sucked bc I would have made so many bp that game and upgraded a tier but big sad ig:’). I wish bhvr would maybe automatically start the collapse after like 10 minutes or so. I feel like that’s enough time to either find hatch or try to open a gate. Then holding the game hostage wouldn’t be possible. Maybe that would cause more problems tho idk. But thanks homies 🫡

Isn't this scenario fundamentally the same thing as being on a hook?

This is a stupid game and for some reason dev never tried to introduce time out or something like that despite unbelievable amount of hostage happening.
0 -
No, because a survivor cannot get the blocked survivor out. Any survivor can unhook anyone under basically any circumstance besides being injured or unhooking unsafely against an instant down killer.
It doesn't stop me though. If I am on a kill the obsession challenge and you get body blocked while I have rancor, good luck. Pray your teammates do not troll you harder than I did.

you dont like it? play a different game that isn't broken and dead, problem solved.

I think they want to keep it as simple as possible with those things. Because the problem here is that a thing which is not bannable (bodyblocking) can cause something which is bannable (holding the game hostage). And if you somehow manage that bodyblocking is bannable under certain circumstances, you will have players complaining that others did a bannable offense. You even see it right now that Killers complain about Survivors bodyblocking when they are carrying a Survivor and Survivors complaining about bodyblocking if a Wraith blocks a Window for them to vault or a Billy or Plague block them into a corner to use their ability.
No, because you can be rescued from a Hook. Also, even if you cannot be rescued, the maximum time you spend on the Hook are two minutes. Plus, it is regular gameplay, because the Killer needs to hook Survivors to do their Objective.

still strange how it's possible I remember old Thompsons house a killer could hold you hostage in the upstairs area because there was no drop down or hole in the floor

Maybe but they should put a side note about that. (e.g. blocking a player as killer when it's not the EGC ... something.)
There has been so many discussions about what "taking the game hostage" means (Which summarize into "no possible way of moving forward for the other team") that this doesn't seem to fall in that category.
On another hand, this must be a very rare case (seen it four times in 3 years) they may not think it's worth adding confusion in the rules.
