Switched from Killer main to Survivor main
(Almost 700k hours killer main here) So i decided to switch from killer main to survivor main for a week and dbd has been much fun lately. My heart isn't pounding through my chest from the stress of playing killer, 4 people aren't taunting me, i'm not irritated of the second chances survivors get, it's been a much chill experience. Hell even losing as survivor is fun, cuz atleast i don't get 4 people rubbing it in my face "hey you lose, we win". Now the problem is, i don't wanna go back to playing killer at all, why stress my ass off playing killer in this survivor sided game when i can actually have fun as survivor? Gaming is supposed to be fun anyways. So to the killers mains who switched to being survivor mains, did you guys go back to playing killer? Or stuck to survivor?

I'm a 50/50 (Survivor/Killer) and Insidious Bubba is my guilty pleasure :-)

I get bored fast playing survivor going from gen to gen while nothing happens

I hope silk song will confirm what ending of hollow knight was canon.

I still play both sides. I’m usually solo queue when I play survivor, which can be incredibly frustrating. But…tonight was different. I almost never play survivor in the evenings due to long queue times, but I played a few matches tonight (queues were about 5 minutes each time) and we got 3-4 escapes each match. My teammates were awesome. Good chases, body blocking, protection hits, good team rescues when killer was camping - they all knew what to do. I think the SBMM does a lot better job of matching you with similar skill teammates in the evenings when there’s a huge survivor player pool.
If I got teammates like I did in tonight’s matches I might never go back to killer!

holy 70000 hours? That's a lot.

I'm also a killer main and I also decided to play more survivor after the terrible MMR update. I had so much fun when I played with my SWF. Yesterday I only played against 2 Nurse's?! THATS RARE! I'm still going to play killer but only when the queue is instant. I refuse to wait longer then 15 seconds for a killer game. But for now I'm going to play a lot of survivor until they give killers some love.

Valorant actually. Also play the agent Sage, unless you lobby with me in that case I be Sage :)

You forgot to mention Valorant.

You know its alright for killer to be tougher to play as than survivor but if you have to practice mindfulness just to play a role in a video game then there's some problems.
2 -
Pretty sure you're not alone when you see the number of killers :p
4 -
i Don’t know why as killer you feel you need to 4k and as surv you don’t mind if you lose. Play to have fun
5 -
I only played survivor to get Sadako p3 day one, and it burned me out so badly that I had to take a break from DBD, you can bet once I return it will be as a killer. Survivor is just not for me. It is fun on occasion, but too much of it and you will go insane.

The Dream no More ending I thought was the canon ending

I was always a survivor main but I did play a lot of killer. I rarely play at present and when I do I never play killer, it just is not worth the stress and frustration for me personally.
Hell I would probably prefer to play against bots as at least they don't go out of their way to make your experience miserable

I don't believe it's been officially stated, I think cherry said "all are canon" but maybe silk song will give us some concrete answer. If it's a sequel.

Oh, I thought Dream no More was considered the "true" ending.
and it is a sequel btw

I just tried to play killer and not to sound like a drama queen but I literally could not go through with it. My anxiety shot up to the point I had to ask myself why do this as games are supposed to be fun right?

I just take Cote's advice.

700...k? That's impossible lol.
If you mean 700 hours, that's interesting - because I very recently decided to start learning survivor with a similar number of hours on killer.
I found that both roles have their own stresses, but in general I still prefer the killer role.
Survivor:
- Less stressful, but also less control over how the game plays out (and it's entirely possible to lose and depip for things outside of my control).
- Long periods of boredom followed by sudden panic.
- Far too many killers who facecamp or slug and bleed-out with Knockout at 5 gens.
Killer:
- More demanding, but I only have to rely on myself.
- Survivors are often BM, but I can generally do something to punish the BMers.
- I control the narrative of the game for the most part.
I honestly both love and hate both roles for different reasons. I will say though that learning to play survivor is making me better at killer, and also a bit more appreciative of the frustrations of survivor players.

wanna gtfo together ar some point?

Played both sides but switched to only survivor around probably a year ago now. Do not regret it but I hope someday the state of killer gets better, or some very fun to play killer is released then I will go back to playing both roles.
I still have all killers and unlocks all perks for them so invest BPs to killers, so I want to go back to killer but I can see myself play only survivor for another year or two.

I used to play both killer and survivor from 2016-2019~. I had a lot of frustrations playing killer back then but kept playing anyway because not all games were bad, in fact many games were fun but when there was a bad game, it was really really bad.
There was also that feeling that I had to put in 10x more effort as killer than the survivors which is kind of true. But that's because it's a 1v4, you don't get downtime like survivors do. I also felt like really really good survivors had more control in a chase than I did (as a Hillbilly main) no matter how well I played. So... why not become a survivor main that controls chases?
So yea to answer your question I switched to only playing survivor (although I did play killer to complete the tome challenges). But for the past few months I don't even do killer challenges anymore. So apart from dabbling with Nurse a few times, I'm only really playing survivor. Although I am more and more tempted to start playing Nurse.

Generally people do. But its hard to have fun when three gens pop before you get your first hook on super unbalanced maps like Cowshed, Mother's Dwelling, Badham etc. Not to mention full meta load outs from all four survivors.
Unless you're a god tier Nurse or Blight you are not competing with that.

Same here.
Killer games are infuriating and extremely challenging as survivors run ragged with the game.
Playing a survivor, even at the worst of times, is so much less stressful and far and above easier than killer.
I can turn my brain off and play survivor with reasonable success.
When I play killer, I have to be at peak performance if I don't want to be bullied and accomplish nothing as the survivors make their escape.

That’s fine personally will always prefer killer because I’d rather that then my clown teammates not rescuing me or not doing bones so NOED.

Its funny how idiot people who is Main killer or survivor complains about their sides when devs don t give a ######### about it xD

Interesting I prefer the intensity of killer I’ll find survivor more frustrating because of teammates doing everything from dropping good pallets, not taking hits, and not doing bones and the rough coordination.

I know what you mean, because that attracted me as well. Never a dull moment - but it's gotten pretty bad at high MMR. Super stale, super weak gameplay.
Also, sounds like bad MMR matching at that point. When you get a bit higher up in survivor ranks, that shouldn't happen much. Now that I've gotten boosted a few matches - 95% of my Survivor matches are with super smart and creative survivors running Meta loadouts.

I’ve met a survivor with a thousand hours who walked by the Devour Hope twice the bones annoy me the most

Omg I know, right??
Hours < IQ :laughingcryingemoji:

Both sides are just as stressful. The reason you feel less stressed as survivor instead of killer, is you do not feel the pressure to fully perform in a match. In the event that things go bad in a match of DBD for survivor, all you have to do is simply get up and walk away. You can effectively choose when to end the match for yourself at any point.
However when you play killer you feel the pressure due to when you give up, its a sign of overwhelming defeat, and are forced to remain in the match until the survivors are satisfied with their victory. It seems like you put more value into your matches as killer itself then you do survivor, despite the fact that when you underperform as killer you only affecting yourself, but when you do as survivor your entire team is affected. There is nothing wrong with this, but some people feel the opposite, and some people feel both, and some feel neither.
I'm glad your feeling less stressed and I encourage you to play whichever side you feel is most fun, however its incorrect to say killer will make everyone feel the same way.

In short MMR is super inconsistent
1 -
Former killer main here. I just stopped playing the game altogether. If Behavior is going to treat one side of their community like trash, I’m not going to just switch sides; I’m going to leave the game like so many other people have done. I tried playing a game of killer again today and went up against the sweatiest and most toxic survivors. I miss when this game was fun.
3 -
Due to the excessive que times, if I gonna switch to survivors might as well play something else.
...and that was the result, actually.
1 -
What do you mean bro. Survivor is also stressful. My heart is going out whenever I get chased because I have so many options in a chase and I can't decide ways to do. But at the end everything is ok. So yes survivor is more stressful than killer. And as killer you always have to see this message "gg ez, noob, loser etc" Both ps4 and pc. But pc more

"switched from instant regret, to long waiting periods of regret"
0 -
Exactly, both sides have their problems and the killer will feel a little more and take it personally because even if the game gave a 90% winrate to the killer, someone would always complain about feeling more pressure on the killer's side, no matter how strong the role was, exactly because the game is asymmetrical (1vs4) and all the major events that occur in the match always depend much more on how the killer behaves and reacts.
0 -
Nah it's because over half the killer roster is worthless against people who know what they're doing
0 -
well, too, but it doesn't change the fact that these "people who know what they're doing (SWF-squads/trio/cooms)" are only on the highest spectrum of MMR and aren't the vast majority of the game's lobbies. I don't know the latest killrate stats released by the BHVR of each killer, but I'm sure 2kill+ should be well above 50% in all MMR specters (not just the middle and lower ones)
0 -
That's actually a valid point, part of what makes killer inherently more stressful the survivor, is due to the Asymmetric aspect of DBD. Regardless of the match outcome is how the major events in a match turns out, killer will always be under more stress. Imagine there around 10 or so major events in a match, that could result in either side gaining a significant event. Perhaps one survivor hooked, and if he can just down this one survivor nearby he can capitalize on it. These sorts of events happen every game. The difference is generally out of these 10, it will only affect 1-2 survivors per event, at the end each survivor may only encounter 4-5 of these events per a match. However the killer is involved in all 10 of them. The killer will always be under more stress, even if the game was perfectly balanced.
1 -
Exactly I play quite few asymmetric game, and let me tell you, even the game which balanced around survivors using comms, playing as killer still way more stressful, hell the game even balanced in favor of the killer , yet playing against a group on comms still way less stressful.
As solo you lose, so noone plays solo, only in groups.
Thats why any change in dbd just would result more player in swf, even if perfect balance, killer will be always more stressful, nothing can change that
