Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Request for a new game mode "Free mode"

Well first of all I want to thank all the devs and game designers but I think there's a missing mode in DbD and that's "Free mode" or "Demo mode" where good things could happen for all players.

This mode should let all players to practice and expereince every possible thing without any kind balance or rewards, yeah you heard me right.

For example I play as a killer most of the times and I want to test a killer before purchasing its DLC or someone wants to test a survivor like me, in this mode we should be able to check them and play as them but without receiving any kind of reward.

Rules I think should be applied to this mode:

- We can play as any of the characters like a test drive but can't play it again unless we check every other character first. This way we make sure all characters got advertised so players know them more and they buy their DLCs if they're interested. You may say check a stream and see if you like that character but imagine your first time tasting an ice cream, is that equal to watching? So all DLC characters should be available as I may find a new killer/survivor inside me.

- No rewards should be given as this is a test drive.

- No one wins so game finishes like a normal match but no winner or reward.

- No friends could be invited, this is a free mode and everything shoule be random. If you liked something purchase it and play with your friends later.

- All skins could be applied to see how a skin fit your favourite character, if you liked it purchase it later.

- All maps should be available but can't be selected, just random but do not let a map to be played again unless the player played all other maps.

- No match making system so no player rank checking and let everyone see what's out there and what could happen if match making won't be available. This is a free mode with no winner or rewards so why not let everyone to test the possibilites?

- Respawn! let players respawn if the killer allows it with a button so they continue the practice but as this could let to an infinite game respawn could just happen once for each survivor.

- Shake hands! let players to shake hands with a button inside the match and accept friend request while playing to get to know more people. As a survivor I may like another player's gameplay so I should be able to say hi, do you want to be friends?

- Game stat charts, there should be a chart available to show me with which charcter I did the best so that's more like me and better to choose.

- Addon and perk boxes. In each map there should be boxes all around the map with random addons and perks for both killer and survivors so take your time.

I think it would be more better like creating a custom match with bots / without bots where you can just test skins, characters, etc. Just for yourself. Alone.

I wouldn't make this as a standalone mode for playing.

Honestly I was thinking of a similar but less detailed idea recently. A free mode where you can choose which map you want to go to and just learn the tiles. Learn some of the possible totem spawns, the gen locations, the dead zones, etc.

It would be SO good for beginner players because half the struggle of this game is tile knowledge. Mechanical skill breaks down when you simply don't know the map (a big reason both killers and survivors struggle on RPD is that the rooms can be confusing as hell)

I think SWFs should be allowed, respawns should be infinite and you just quit when you're ready to leave. If the killer leaves, the survivors can still run around and a new killer can join mid practice. Broken pallets respawn after 5 minutes. It's literally just an open exploration time for people to learn the maps.

Without incentive to play the mode you propose, not many people would even try it, certainly I don't see anyone playing it assiduously, ever, so finding a match would be a problem.

Also I get the idea of test driving a killer's power, but I don't think anyone needs to test drive a survivor. They are just skins, if you understand how a perk works (which is not hard) thats all you need to know, so I don't see why anyone would load into this mode as survivor, let alone the 4 people necessary for a match.

I like the spirit of the idea, but it would just be simpler to have custom games with bots and let you try content you haven't purchased on it.

Thanks a lot for participating in this topic, offline mode for it would be AMAZING as you can practice alone but I heard DbD devs are not fan of creating bots or let people play offline so I suggested the online thing.

Also allowing players to focus on a specific map should be only allowed when all other maps played at least once.

Regarding the "nobody may want to test drive survivor", that's not true. I myself play as survivor sometimes because it's fun in any way you play DbD and playing as survivor lets you understand how other survivors play so as a killer you get to know them better later.

Remember playing as a survivor here lets you understand so many things like how work with other players or know the maps ans killers before you do a real match.

    Game already has two modes.

KYF you can play with your casual friends and meme all day.

Ranked play is where the PVP is.

I would like a training mode similar to the Killer Tutorial. Then I could finally train my Sky Billy skills without one of my friends having to get bored in KYF *-* However, there would be a risk that I would never get out of this training mode and would just fly over the maps all the time 😂

It would be really beneficial to making friends in dbd if there was a voice chat when adding ppl, otherwise there's no real incentive for cross-platform friend lists
