David: Ignoring the opinion of the community
I feel totally deceived. My opinion is that such important information about any characters shouldn't be thought up and added to the lore after years of this character already being in the game! That is so forced, unnatural, you just have chosen one of the survivors and started to rewrite the whole his life!
You know, that´s really unfair. As a woman, I´ve just lost my favorite male survivor. I think that having some ideal characters, maybe even sexualized is OK in videogames, so why the hell you are don´t take care of the female part of your community???
I understand the needs of LGBTQIA2+ community, but you could make for them a new character so that your changes wouldn´t inflict the current fan base of any already existing survivor.

Because all the years I play this game I was considering David a straight man. And the lore, where was mentioned his ex-girlfriend, was also confirming that.
So yes, it matters a lot for me, that now all I believed about David is just ruined. I already was a fan of David, and BEhaviour should just make a completely new character gay he will also have his own fan base! I mean, it looks like taking a toy from one child to giving it to another one for no reason!!!

If they want to make him gay, fine. Then how about wait for his new lore in tome to come out? Nope.
If it was suddenly in his new lore (and it will be there I am sure) then it wouldn't feel forced, at least not much. This feels like it was like "Oh we need gay character ASAP... Ehmmm... David? Yea, sure."

I don't get how yall can say this is "forced" when sexuality wasn't even a mentioned trait for David.
So why does it matter? Literally nothing is lost, and nothing is gained besides representation of a group that faces regular oppression in the world.

Actually Dumbledoor is forced because there's no canon material on it until Fantastic Beasts 2. David is still receiving more and more canon material to support this. So no, it's not forced but nice try.

The reason Dumbledore feels forced is because JK Rowling has expressed queerphobic views before, and is a TERF which is directly opposed to LGBTQ+ ideals. So the fact that Dumbledore is gay feels ungenuine because it comes from an ungenuine source.

You know, people never mention their sexuality irl at the first meet, or it is never mentioned in the first line of their lore. But this is implied by indirect causes and usually, you can figure it out. For example, you can take a look at whom they are dating

Kind of a big difference there.
On one hand we have an author who, after she already finished the series says "well, this character was gay the whole time, even though I never did anything, wrote anything or in any way supported that idea in the actual books"
On the other we have a game where lore about each character is given out piecemeal, where after working with GaymerX for over a year, decided that the next reveal for David's lore is his sexuality.

I honestly don't see the issue with David being gay and then it "ruining" the "straight woman" thing.
People always just assumed he was straight and it did not ruin it for gay people. People don't have an issue with making wraith/nurse gay when they are straight when they write fanfiction or make art, so I don't see why straight people can't just do the same and move on.

There are cases of gay men dating or even marrying women. This is done because:
A) The person may not have had the resources to understand what they're feeling due the stigmatization of gay people and the lack of resources to study it.
B) To prevent emasculation, due to toxic masculinity disowning homosexuality. David King is known to do brawls and collect debts. Toxic masculinity dictates these are "manly" things to do (physical altercations) but also disowns homosexuality as being emasculating. David probably dated a girl to prevent discovery and keep a reputation in the ring.

There are literally gay children all around the world who are being told daily that being gay is bad, and makes them a weak, craven thing. Some of those children will now be able to look at David and see even the King of survivors can be a proud gay man. Personally I think that's a bit more important than whether or not the game provides you with fodder for your wank bank.

Coming from a man perspective who happens to be bisexual, generally speaking all characters are defaulted to straight when sexuality is not mentioned in their lore. As far as I know there was nothing on David's lore until now that has mentioned him dating or being attracted to anyone.
For gay/lesbians/bisexuals, and I am speaking just from my own experience I don't know how others feel about it, but I don't really get upset/angry when another man is seen as straight. Like I mentioned in another post, there are fanfictions and art portraying straight characters in gay relationships.
Wouldn't you as a straight woman not be content with just consuming straight media from that character? David being canonically gay doesn't mean all media from now on will showcase him as gay, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will show him as straight.

There are several male characters whose sexuality is ambiguous, so 'losing David' isn't a big deal. Get over yourself.

First of all, there was already mentioned a girlfriend in his lore.
And in simple words, I´m angry with rewriting the story of an existing character as they want, don't taking care of fans. Just imagine if your favorite survivor is Kate/Feng/Meg etc, and in the next tome suddenly it comes that she has a cock.

It's not rewriting the story at all.
I suggest reading his full Lore, it will make things a lot clearer for you to understand.
And it's incredibly common for gay men to have had previous relationships with women for various reasons.

Nice try, but my favorite skin is not shirtless, and I mostly used to play as Meg in a duo with my boyfriend as David. We both had chosen a survivor to represent ourselves, we always do the same in games which we are playing together. And I still think it´s unfair now to make David representing entirely other people, not his previous fans

I would see no issue with that. My favorite survivor is Claudette. If I found out in the next lore drop that she was transgender (you know, the actual term adults use, instead of being transphobic ######### stains) it wouldn't bother me a bit. She could be a lesbian, she could be straight, she could be ace. Wouldn't hurt me any because I am happy at the variety of life and don't decide which character I like based on my lust.

I think if I liked someone that much from a video game to a point of getting upset about them turning out to be a sexuality that wouldn't be attracted to me, I think I'd have bigger issues than someone having genitals I wasn't expecting them to.

Just tell me WHY behavior couldn't make a completely new character? Some people will find him attractive and play as this survivor.
And the fans of David wouldn't be frustrated with so big changes in their favorite character. That´s so a simple solution.
