Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Does Stridor have a new description/ new effect?

Stridor.jpg

Stridors ingame description now says:

"Breathing of survivors in pain is 50% louder and regular breathing is 25% louder"

Didn't it used to be:

"Increases the volume of survivors grunts of pain by 50% and regular breathing by 25%"

I'm confused, cause usually the injured sounds were always called grunts of pain, while breathing only ever meant the sounds of healthy survivors. Has there been a change that I've missed? peepoThink

If there is a mod around who could confirm if anything has been changed about breathing sounds and/or stridor, that would be very much appreciated :)

Audio volume levels are now multiplicative, meaning Perks like Iron Will that reduce the grunts of pain to 0 no longer be affected by perks like Stridor. That's the only change that was made somewhat recently.

Iron Will is working as intended. While injured, you make grunts of pain instead of making healthy breathing sounds. If you make no grunts of pain, you make no noise.

Imo, this is a stupid intention.

Nobody knows if iron will is working as intended, since BHVR has never clarified it. Also from a logical point of view one would assume that iron will is not working as intended since current IW basically stops survivors from breathing. So a survivor gets injured and not only do they supress their grunts of pain but on top they also hold their breath until they're healed or downed? Doesn't make sense. That's why a lot of ppl assume that it is not working as intended.

Survivors play one of several sound loops based on their status (e.g. panting while running, breathing while standing still, moaning while injured). If you are injured, you do not make breathing sounds. Elsewise you would hear breathing sounds overlapping injured sounds in game.

Iron Will makes your injured moans completely silent. Since this is the only sounds loop your character is playing, you no longer make noise. This is Iron Will working as intended.

I know the technicality behind iron will and survivor sounds. Though there would be an ez way to fix this. Just instead of applying a times 0 amplifier to the volume of the grunts of pain, make iron will revert the sound of the survivor back to healthy, that way they have breathing sounds and no grunts of pain, as the perk says (grunts of pain reduced by 100% aka inexistent).

PS that iron will is working as intended is ur own opinion, just like what I just wrote is my opinion and it will remain that way until there is an official statement by the devs which has never happened.

PPS from a logical POV the argument still stands. The way IW works right now is illogical.

PPPS Also regarding logic, if u remember, the stridor nerf (according to the devs) was not with the intention to nerf spirit but because old stridor didn't make sense. U can't amplify what isn't there. So logic does seem to be important to them.
