Disable censorship
Can we maybe add someway to disable the chat censorship? I mean it censors the word tiktok.... this game has murder in it...

While i have to admit that bhvrs Chatfilter is broken in terms of what it censors, even non toxic stuff that makes normal messaging sometimes impossible without it looking like swearing, i have to ask, why do so many people feel the need to use their internet ego+anonymity and smack talk like there is no tomorrow and often in a way they would never dare in a face to face situation? Or if they would, should rethink their upbringing.

There should be an option to turn off the filter. I find it insulting that BHVR doesn't treat people as adults.
And more insulting they filter the word 'phone'.

It's not just trash talk it's the fact that you can be be having a normal respectful conversation with someone and you can have half your sentence censored for no reason

I mean if we're playing a game where you can watch a guy with a chainsaw beat someone with a mallet than chainsaw through them you can Handel some bad words. Bhvr may he caught up in some PC tho

The reason the filter is there isn't because of just some bad words? It's literally to stop people from being called slurs in endgame chat. There's literally no correlation between the violence inside the game. (Moris) and then people going out of their way to be racist or homophobic in endgame.
Sure, there are random words that shouldn't be censored. But overall, the censor definitely shouldn't be disabled.

I just wish it exclusively censored stuff that is actually bannable to say. By all means bleep out the entire sentence if someone does say such a word, so it's not obvious what they said via context and the amount of *'s.
Seeing *** in chat should immediately mean "They said something reportable", not "I wonder if they called me some racial slur or said tbag".

I literally said one of the perks I was using as in my match it had OP vaule. So, BHVR doesn't like "Red Herring," apparently. It offends someone woke? I curse a blue-streak on a daily basis in my life and do you know who are the only ones to tell me shut up or find it hugely offensive? Snowflake millenials and Gen Z

That's why I said make an option to turn it off. Some people get offended easily so they need it on but other people really don't care and don't want words that aren't even considered bad or offensive censored

Desperately wish they'd give you the option to turn off the censors. For every slur or meanly used swear it blocks my helpless virgin eyes from seeing, I get thirty innocuous comments mangled into an incomprehensible mess. Honestly, the censors do a good job of making other players think I'm being toxic when I'm actually trying to comment about something that happened in the match.

It also censor the word "phone", among many others. (Trying to say someone you were on the phone becomes a game in itself)
I've tried to have a normal conversation with a survivor yesterday (somehow, he guessed I'm a native French speaker because I said "ah" in an otherwise fully English text) and we couldn't speak more that 2 or 3 sentence without trying to go around the hashes/sharp nonsense.

Some basic filter would be fine but this one is insane. It censors even basic words that have no bad meaning. It deletes flow of basic chats and sometimes it makes you like you are wanting to cursing someone while you just wanted to say something nice. Very bad.

Well... you can always disable the chat so that means, the only people who get triggered by it are the people who want to get triggered by it in the first place... If they had a good game, they can just open it, type gg and close it again. Besides, random people saying things on internet is pretty common, not saying it's fine but you need to separate real issues with fake issues, an issue would be if people go out of their way, enter your profile, watch your FB profile or such, that's harassing a person which can go to cyber bullying but people saying things in a chat that you can disable and you can avoid to watch by just pressing the leave match button...

The really warped thing about the censorship in after game chat , when you are saying something totally innocent and reasonable it makes you look like your flaming like a maniac, i think there be an option to have the censor on or off

I fully agree that there should be an option to turn it off, I'm a grown adult I can survive some curse words, people can already wish death and illness on people without getting censored so why would the rest matter?
Though, I then also request that it highlights words that got censored for someone else when I say them because the amount of times I've been just having a mutually civil talk with the survivors in the end game and it filters out something 100% inoffensive, like character names or perks, is insane. And if I don't know what I said was filtered I can't try to rewrite it to get around the filter and the other players might think I was actually saying offensive stuff.
At very, VERY, least fix the filter so it only censor actual offensive stuff and not characters, perks or game mechanics.

it is set up this way so you cant report people for what they say anymore.
If you cant read it, cant report it. When I first started playing this game, survs would tell you hurt yourself in almost every end game chat, and it was reportable back then,.... now, you can type whatever you want because no one can read it anyway LOL

It seems to take context of surrounding words and previous posts into account, though how it reads that context is anyone's guess. Like, I've had GG blocked before once, and I couldn't say it in that particular endgame chat no matter how many times I tried or in what configuration, but in most chats I'm able to say it.
It also seems to have been changed over time - Yun-Jin and Myers used to always be blocked for me, but now they aren't. But I still have consistent difficulty talking about killing in any tense when it's the main point of the game, and stuff like phones and cameras are verboten for no reason I can comprehend.

@Lynxx It's the hypocrisy of socialism in general. Sorry to take it political, but it is. The corporations are falling over themselves to Cowtow to the loudest of people. David didn't need to be gay. In the interest of inclusions they made David Gay, yet, didn't just make a brand new character with perks and cosmetics to match. That would have been representation. They'll censor any bad word. You could stretch to imagine why Rancor and Killer would be censored in chat. Stretch. But Red Herring? C'mon. That censorship hypocrisy is, they delete bad words that offend and some that don't het encourage toxicity in gameplay with the mechanics they've presented. Women want rights but don't want men to have them. Etc etc etc.
I don't buy in to any bull. Be yourself, I'll be myself. I don't need representation. But censor what I can and cannot say and you've crossed the line. Some people swear as a coping mechanism, others for genuine comfort, others because its their local culture. Who's really gonne be able to do anything if a bunch of delicates go rattling because the mean man on the Internet used a swear? Easier to implement a bull AI censor bot.
