question on when to use bubbas chainsaw
I bought bubba strictly because he has 2 perks i want. franklins and bbq.
First impressions. ######### this guy lmao.
Idk if im stupid but his chainsaw doesnt make sense. power description says you can use 1-3 charges but when i start swinging he doesnt stop until all charges are used up. how do i just use 1?
Also when do you use the chainsaw? you cant sneak up on people, you have a a couple second wind up and then you move a bit slower for a short distance. IME so far, survivors ALWAYS have a pallet or a vault they can get too before i can catch up. ive oly found value with it as stopping a hook save.
No im not a bubba camper, but i do a 1-2 gen and hook patrol because my playstyle involves closing in on 2 people (all my killers)i can take down and chainsaw can come in handy there. But im not interested in being corralled into bubbas power only being useful to me on stopping hook saves.
What are some tips to better utilise bubbas power in chase?

You constantly should be threatening survivors with the chainsaw. Ideally, you want to always force the survivor to get downed instantly or drop the pallet. In addition, find that sweet spot where you are a bit close behind a survivor in a loop. InvadeGames, Bubba shouldn't be too close that the survivor can stun you, but not too far because the chainsaw gauge will run out. Bubba can quickly create dead zones. As a result, the survivor will make little distance on you.
Eventually, you will encounter survivors who will use windows effectively to neutralize the chainsaw. Leave them and try to find the weak link. Also, don't be afraid to camp/proxy camp to secure a 2nd hook stage or kill. Camping can also be helpful if the hooked survivor is in a midst of a 3-4 gen. 1 perk I recommend is Tinkerer. Survivors will be caught off guard and downed instantly. It is extremely disgusting on Bubba. Try that perk out. Cheers!

tinkerer comes from hillbilly right? I tried him once and I hated him so utterly much i swore never to use him again. That was early on in my switch to killer from a survivor only player.
And I definitely am a proxy camper, its part of my playstyle but with bubba i guess i am hesitant because of the raw amount of complaining about hook camping bubbas. I have no shame in proxy camping, its a valid and effective strategy if done right and is not the same as face camping but I dont want to ruin the experience for other people so with bubba, i have been moving farther away than i usually will on a killer.
as in the first post i usually choose a 1-2 generator and hook patrol to time it so that im either on my way back while a hook save happens(which hell yea im popping a chainsaw sweep on the save if i can) or i can quickly come back in after one happens.
and in reference to your deadzone statement, i assume you can thus break pallets with the sweep? I have not tried this. And when doing so do you get stunned or stopped or can you continue to sweep through the pallet for a hit?

Use the Chainsaw near pallet's and when you're right on top of them. If they're in a dead zone rev it up cause there's not much to help them at that point. also to use 1 charge just activate it once and don't press it again cause he'll keep swinging.

InvadeGames, the chainsaw can break pallets. Yes, I believe that you can still get stunned with the pallet while doing a chainsaw sweep. However, you can't directly sweep through the pallet for a down. Bubba has to break the pallet first, then rev up his chainsaw once again to down the survivor.
Bamboozle is another perk that I recommend to you as well. Bamboozle can help shut down tricky loops like the Long-wall Jungle Gym, Short-wall Jungle Gym, Shack, et cetera.

You need to know which map tiles to not even bother using the saw because some are enclosed walls with a narrow passage that leads to a pallet and on the other side have a vault. For those you need to know how to mind game and anticipate the survivors movements. It helps to know how to moonwalk around tiles to hide your red stain and mind game them.
Otherwise someone else mentioned using the saw to zone survivors, essentially forcing them to drop pallets or risk going down instantly to the saw. You also need to learn the timing for when a survivor can pallet stun you while youre running with the saw into a pallet loop. If you learn their movements you can let go of the joystick/w key at the right moment and instead of getting stunned youll saw the pallet. Good survivors know how to pallet stun LF when hes charging with the saw and they'll be taken by surprise if you know how to counter it.
Once you get the hang of mind gaming loops you can start to moonwalk to hid your red stain during a chainsaw sweep and keep the charges going and trick survivors into running right into you around loops and certain map tiles.
Once you get good with bubba you'll realize you don't really ever need to camp or tunnel with him, he can end chases faster than almost any other killer in the right hands.
The only perk that's necessary on him is bamboozle, for ending chases in the killer shack rapidly. If they go to shack, stay on their tail until they use the vault window, then follow and bamboozle will close it off. Stay on their tail. If they go for the side with the pallet you can charge the saw and force them to drop it, allowing you to destroy the god pallet quickly, or if they get greedy and go for the side without the pallet just start charging the saw right away and you get a sure insta-down.
