Use Blindness To Counter Boons

This is something that occurred to me just yesterday when I was playing some survivor. I was brining boon perks with me, and playing against a Sadako that could regularly inflict blindness on me with an addon. This actually ended up becoming a noticable problem for me, as I wasnt sure where the boons were as a result, since I was in Lery's. This significantly reduced the use I got out of me and my teams boons.

So for killers, blindness can be a decent counter to boons. It wont stop them from going up, but if survivors havent memorized where boons are, blindness can stop them from knowing where to run to to gain their benefits. The person who put the boon up will likely remember where it is, but the other three players will potentially be less fortunate.

    No counter! Only nerf!

Chances are theyre not getting nerfed any time soon, so its good to know some counters in the meantime.

The only thing I see blindness really do is preventing survivors seeing the boon get snuffed out and might trick them to waste time heading to the boon when it's been snuffed.

Survivors can hear when it goes up and only need to see where it is once to have an idea how to get to it.

That could've been effective on Lery's, yeah. But on an outdoor map you can just look for the light blue particles in the air that indicate the totem radius so it won't do as much. Blindness will hide the totem's aura but it won't hide that.

I've never really had problems finding totems - Lery's has a couple of spots that almost always spawn.

The core issue though is that this doesn't work against SWF, and since SWF is a thing - the game sort of needs to be balanced around it.

I see what y'all are saying, and these are all good points. This definitely isnt a perfect counter, and blindness and boons are both flawed for several reasons. I just know how frustrating boons can be, and ai thought it could be helpful to know things to hinder their usefulness, if even just a little bit.

Blindness does not remove the VERY LOUD HUM or the BLUE BUBBLE OVER WAKANDA.

Blindness as a status effect is just so underwhelming and has needed improvements for years. In most cases it's nearly useless. Even the small use of not knowing where a person is hooked is irrelevant because even with Blindness you still get a location ping when someone is hooked...years later..and this is still a thing..why.

Remove the location ping on hook and give Blindness an additional effect. Maybe make it hide the killers red stain for that survivor or make it hide all the survivor huds or make it cause all totems to look and sound as if they were dulls.

Also, most things that apply Blindness have way too short of a duration for how useless they are. Things like Twins Baby Teeth addons..Blindness for 30 seconds..completely worthless. Sadako Sea-Soaked Cloth..Blindness for 7 seconds within 8m of a powered TV..completely worthless. The list goes on for multiple other killers addons and perks.

Blindness even after getting some buffs needs to always be a minimum of a 60 seconds in almost all perks/addons. All the applications giving less than that are embarrassing.

With what? The hex that they'll boon over, Fearmonger for when they're on gens and don't care, Knockout when they're on the ground and don't care, or the underwhelming and weak add-ons that take-up a whole slot that only some killers even have access to that they can easily wait out?

Sadly blindness is hard countered by comms.

Its a good idea but once again only works against solo survivors.

The problem with teams on comms is, its a no drawback information perk that is always available, improves coordination and invalidates much of the killers in game tools and even some killers powers.

Its game breaking to the point of no fun.
