What's the point,anyway?
Behavior is hyping out the anniversary broadcast a ton. But,even if theoretically, they announce large sweeping change to balance and actual graphics options, updates to general QoL in tons of places. What's the point?
With their current release schedule it's going to arrive (If even that! I see you mori changes and like half the things we were ever promised) 6 months later. I refuse to believe that the developer team does not have to competence to make sweeping changes to perks, tweaking their values just to see the feedback and have a fast turnaround of patches. Smaller dev teams on bigger games produce patchnotes orders of magnitudes larger than DBD with complicated changes.
And don't get me wrong,it's AMAZING that the developers are not crunched and that BHVR is hailed as one of the best workplaces ever. That's incredible in today's day and age. However that's not really an excuse to release dozens of absolutely broken patches with horrible out of touch changes.
Even if the team actually tried to do a heath YEAR. How long would it take them to make any kind of changes? Look at the 5.5.0 midchapter. What were the changes? DMS got buffed? Boil Over got a new effect and Nurse was buffed. Oh,right, they also thought the tweak Buckle Up needed was a range buff and Coup De Grace was too strong at release.
It's not that midchapters have to be like 5.3.0. It's that those should come out twice as often. I keep finding myself thinking that if only two mid-chapters were one,or maybe a mid-chapter was included every chapter,DBD would progress a helluvalot more. They have the manpower to do it. Their game would prosper, but they don't because there is no point with the competition they have,I guess.
So in conclusion. Behavior either needs to change and introduce changes to the game way more frequently, like any other half-competent game development studio. Or continue down the path that they're headed now. Maybe do some NFTs.

Even rushed, half-baked content sells. Health patches don't.

Or they will not arrive at all like half of the things they announced last year(mori rework rework, incentive of bps to play killer at specific times when queue is long, Funko pops, etc)
Im not hyped at all this year, when they don't keep promises there's no point to even announce them, just to get disappointed next months

I'm not hyped as well. Still going to watch it to see if we get some BP codes like last year and to see what they promise now, what won't be delivered (like autoban feature).

Source for BHVR promising autoban feature pls, thats a new one to me.
UPDATE: They said they were working on it, not that it would release soon.
It took a bit of time to track the story, but @GoodBoyKaru shared a summery with moderators clearing up misunderstandings too.

At the very least there are a couple of things they announced they were working on six months ago that will probably have details or even be in the next chapter.
- The bloodweb revamp
- They mentioned status icons on the HUD for solo survivors to help them get additional information on what everybody else is doing.
Both of the above were started internally around December probably and announced in January so they are probably both just about due to have the details announced and maybe be out by the chapter release.
Also this most recent midchapter has a ton of changes, including major revamps for Legion and Ghost Face. It’s not like the midchapters don’t have revisions.

Getting a better code team would be a welcome announcement. I don't know what kind of chewing-gum-and-duct-tape framework they're working off of, but the sheer number of totally unrelated things breaking, inexplicably, every patch is kind of embarrassing. "We added Haddonfield back into rotation! Aaaaaaand the Rancor perk broke."

I'm hopeful.
If they go through with the promised 'we will be helping solo queue out and then buffing killers to compensate' measures, that alone would be extremely welcome. Add on the grind reduction and other QOL changes, and I'll certainly be happier.
Yes, changes are implemented at a glacial pace here and I do wish they took a few more chances, but I'm still having fun and it is what it is.

Someone needs to create a list of all the things BHVR promised and never followed up on.
I'd love to see it - not only out of morbid curiosity, but because some of the issues are long dead and are relics to the past.
I started playing in 2019 and I'm still learning about QoL changes that were promised 2 entire years before I even picked up the game.

Just like I said, they might not arrive at all,lol

Pretty sure that's due to the whole game still being practically a one giant mess of UE Blueprint code still.

They took 5 years to fix a supposed bug Deadhard had.
That's all you need to know about them.

Might as well go play civilization guys. Highly recommended

One of the best ones i remember was "console optimization". I think they promised that in 2016/17(?) and I don't think they ever got back on that and just swept it under the rug?

Some good changes. However as per usual, most of them months and months away. Kind of saddening. I was hoping for more. Chapter's is a disappointment so far,the Killer's really sad.
