Oni "180" hit

Hello everyone,

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway because I'm irked and I want to vent...

Can someone explain to me like I'm five how this Oni can go a literal 180 degrees like this? I'm assuming this is yet another case of BHVR forgetting that they develop the game for non-PC systems (hence why people can dodge my Oni if they take a slight step to the right because my oni can't flick 90 degrees, let alone do a full 180 flip around) but I'd appreciate it if someone can confirm this.

Edit: I see upon watching it again that it is more of a 90 degree flick instead as he evidently found a way to catch himself on the log to sling shot himself around but I stand by my complaint that BHVR needs to remember they develop a game on console too because you can't get Oni to flick that extreme on console

That looks like a 90° flick, he was almost perpendicular to the log when rushing.

Very solid play by the oni to be honest.

He can, by having a high dpi or looking up/down and flicking your mouse you can do 180 flicks with oni, pretty cool moves that only very experienced onis can actually do.

Looked fine, tbh. As said above, he was practically perpendicular to the log, so it's just a good ol' 90 degree hit by the look of it.

It was a very solid play by the Oni

Sure would be nice if BHVR let console players do it but that shrug I guess

That looked like a 90° flick to me, he was staring at that log full on, and then flicked right towards you

    That's the Oni Hug Tech

I've heard people complain about the "Hug Tech" and that it is a bug, not a feature

Is it that same Hug Tech thing? I have no idea what the Hug Tech actually is (presumably based on the name you hug the walls), I just know I keep hearing the term and people being mad at it 😅

ah thats definitely a pc oni?

console onis are extremely easy to win against its the pc onis that are scary

I didn't bother to screenshot it but yes, I can confirm that is a PC Oni as I am the player getting smushed and sitting there on the ground wondering why I ever bother playing anymore :D

The "hug tech" refers to blight looking down to slide on structures he should bump on (I guess looking down moves his bump hitbox behind his own collision hitbox).

Oni slides on any structures by default.

It would be interesting for a Dev to comment on the Oni 180 flicks. I’m not talking about the ones that are pulled off by dashing against an object, I’m talking about the ones where the Oni looks up right before flicking, and then flicks 180 degrees. If the blight hug tech is considered a bug, by the same logic I would think Oni 180 flicks are also a bug.

The ones on console that can flick 90° aren't extremely easy, I assure you that 👍

A lot of Decent Oni players need Akitos Crutch to be even able to flick further like that which is what I’d assume that particular oni had or Anzen Talisman, you might’ve been able to presumptively dodge wide left of the log coming around and he could’ve missed you but how’d you know that oni was decent enough to hit a flick like that? I’d watch Lipy on Twitch to get a better understanding on how flicks are done from the Onis perspective..

    Get S#%T on lmao..

They fine tuned his flick over multiple patches. We know pretty well it's intended to be capped at 90 degrees.

Just chiming in to say oh lordy, that was beautiful. He had your number from the moment he started that dash and it looked like a dance.

I've played Oni a few times and I find his power very awkward. I can't imagine even if they give console players the same kind of fine-motor control that you would end up with many console Oni's pulling this off.

when dashing with Oni, if you look up in the sky, you can flick past 90 degree. The max I have ever flicked is 270°. Its an exploit for Oni but I used to not use it because its bug. Its just that.... without that exploit/bug, you can't use his dash properly at loops against strong players because his wind-up is as slow as billy and add-on that reduced it got nerfed.

So now I use it because without it, he's downright terrible against good survivors in his ability.

Looks like a normal hit. His red stain was basically entirely on the log and not on the ground.
