So what will happen to Sadako?

The community seems to agree that Dredge's teleportation powers are similar to Sadako's. Most importantly that they're even better than hers. Having more access to places to teleport and create mindgames with, Sadako only has condemned to compensate for it. But even condemned is underwhelming along with the rest of how she's built (Lullaby, gimmicky stealth power, and long cooldowns)

There's no purpose in playing her anymore. What are your guys' suggestions on how to buff Sadako?

remove cooldown from teleport, make it so you can't blind or mess with her while shes leaving the TVs, make condemned build slowly passively and build faster with a tape (maybe 70 seconds without a tape per stack and 40 with a tape)

Make her passively more powerful the more condemned all 4 survivors have built up.

You can't buff a m1 killer without a chasing power... You can buff her on her mobility, but she'll stay in the trash tier cause she doesn't have any anti loop power (the only actual thing that can SLIGHTLY help is her passive phasing, but this won't stop survivors from looping her to death)

    • Remove her lullaby.
    • Bake Clump of Hair and Newspaper in baseline.
    • Condemn is gained gradually while within the radius of any active television.

I see so many suggestions of her walking through pallets/vaults. I hate to break to you but that will just never happen. If she walks through at normal speed she would become the best anti-looper and would break the game a little. If she traverses through normally (vault speed) it would be worthless since survivors can see what she's doing and predict accordingly.

To manifest then demanfest and manifest again is a lot of time to do a single action. I think it's worth trying. We already have nurse that can blink through every onstacle in the game. I think a killer that can walk through pallets and window vaults isn't game breaking. Espiesially since sadako can't just m1 right away.

Honestly her Iridescent that turns on the last 4 televisions if she hits someone within 8 seconds of a manifestation should be somewhat baseline.

If she's not going to have some anti loop, then she should be allowed to make maximum use of her teleport ability to cut off chases and surprise survivors from different angles.

“The community” is wrong if they think Dredge and Sadako are similar other than a broad statement that they both teleport.

True, but the community has been joking that Dredge's has taken over Sadako's throne (if there even was a throne in the first place)

They play pretty differently so I can’t tell which one I’ll personally like better, but they definitely can coexist in the game.

Also it’s worth noting Sadako hasn’t had her full balance pass yet. They’re probably going to do that next midchapter is my guess.

The point is that Dredge is just better than Sadako and Dredge has teleportion just like Sadako. Dredge has more places to teleport, much faster, has a mindgame anti loop tool, and the list goes on. Sadako's condemned hardly makes up for her lacking teleportation.

I made this thread not only to get players opinions but also as feedback to the devs.

Literally just make her condemn build overtime, as EVERYONE expected

that will boost her up a bit its not that hard

I would agree with you all if her manifest/demanifest was akin to wraiths cloaking/decloaking. Walking through pallets/windows could make sense then. But manifesting is way too easy and she loses basically no distance while doing it. Not to mention one small but very important detail about sadako compared to wraith is that her demanifest doesnt break chase unlike wraiths cloaking so blocking windows becomes an issue.

I like the concept of the change but her manifest/demanifest needs to be nerfed to almost wraiths level for it to be not incredibly broken.

Dredges teleport is slow as #########

Edit: Dredge actually travels the map while teleporting unlike sadako who teleports instantly.

Its animation after teleporting is way faster, sure. But try to teleport across map and you'll see what i mean. I think it might be the slowest teleport in game if its slower than demos gates.

Dredge’s teleportation is different than Sadako’s. He has a lot more possible locations to go to which is great, but it’s not virtually instantaneous like Sadako’s, it’s got a travel time. (Honestly it’s more like Demogorgon’s portals in that respect). Overall I think Dredge’s teleport looks a bit more effective than Sadako’s because of the extra flexibility but that’s just a guess.

It looks like Sadako has better stealth than Dredge because of her shorter profile, on and off invisibility and the ability to be Undetectable pretty much at will. Dredge becomes a bit stealthier than Sadako during Nightfall, but is less stealthy during the day. On the flip side, he can be quiet in a locker for a few seconds to help him ambush that way, so it’s tricky to say how that will pan out.

Dredge looks like he’s better at loops because he can actively use his Remnant to be on one side of a loop, walk around it, and instantly teleport back if it looks like the survivor is heading there. Sadako’s only advantage in a loop is using invisibility to disguise the direction she runs it which is ok but not as good as Dredge’s remnant. So points to Dredge there.

Sadako’s Condemned is her weakest feature but still does provide some slowdown since survivors have to periodically get off gens to deliver a tape. It also does significantly improve when she uses her Green addon that applies stacks on survivors who heal each other.

Personally my guess at the moment for overall tier list would be Sadako is on par or maybe slightly better than Wraith and Dredge is slightly better than both of them. So something like Wraith is 2 out of 5 stars, Sadako is 2 or 2.5 stars, and Dredge is maybe 3.5 stars or 4 stars (he seems quite good off the cuff so far.) Sadako is still due for her full balance pass, probably in the next midchapter, so they may end up buffing her a bit then. And one of the devs already confirmed that Dredge’s Nightfall visibility is currently too large because it’s bugged so that should be reducing down to around 15-20 meters probably (they said anything 12 meters or less was determined to be unplayable in internal testing).

TLDR - Sadako and Dredge definitely aren’t the same character, they can coexist just fine. Dredge is probably a more effective killer overall but Sadako isn’t bad. And neither is currently in their “final form”.

They didn't do Sadako any favours releasing Dredge staright after her. Should have been kept apart a bit.

She should getting anti loop like the dredge.

Sadako is useless now that the Dredge is out. Just like Freddy. No reason to play either of them and they are licensed killers. Licensed killers, IMO, should at least be B tier or higher killers. I really, really, reallllly hope the devs buff their licensed killers like Sadako and Freddy. Otherwise, new players won't buy the content and nobody will play them. I know I won't and I was excited when Sadako first came out only to find she was so easy to counter. My excitement and fun lasted about a few weeks with her. It's seriously a shame especially being licensed and all.

She really just needs some small anti-loop or way to deal with pallets. Her mobility is decently good. And making condemned do more won't really help with her underlying problem.

I think the big difference from Dredge is that Dredge has some anti-loop, but his anti-loop has a lot of different options for counter play. You can run through the Remnant. You can bait the teleport. You can leave the loop. Each of these counter plays has its own counter play. You can cancel your power instead of teleporting. You can teleport to the new loop. You can bait leaving the loop by quickly using your power and then canceling it.

Another killer that has a similar anti-loop style is Artist. Artist's is too strong and doesn't have as much counter play. Leaving the loop is just much better than staying at the loop.

Sadako has basically nothing to do at a loop other than eat the pallet. Traveling through pallets would completely break the game though along with her stealth and mobility.

I think the focus has to be there.

My suggestion? Maybe one of these.

    1. Manifest/Demanifest are either faster or they do not affect your speed.
    2. Getting pallet stunned while demanifested gives an auto-spirit fury. Forces her to manifest. Does not work with Enduring.
    3. Maybe have manifesting leave a blinking husk while also keeping the existing blinking husk. Allow the ability button to be pushed to teleport yourself back to the husk. You can only perform the teleport while manifesting (so no holding it like Dredge).

That last one might be too similar to Dredge.

    Here’s how to buff Sadako

    1. condemned builds up passively when survivors are within 8 meters of a powered tv. It takes 24 seconds for survivors to gain a condemned stack when near the tv.
    2. shutting a tv off gives a condemned stack and it will build passively on you for every 24 seconds.
    3. survivors who have 7 stacks of condemned suffer from exposed.
    4. survivors who have 7 stacks of condemned cannot get rid there condemned stacks once they hit 7(if your at 7 and you insert a tape it will not get rid of it).
    5. teleportation cooldown is now 20 seconds. Cooldown on survivors shutting tv off is 80 seconds.

I think these will make Sadako a lot better to play and make her more threatening to play against

How about giving her some kind of fatigue if she does do it so survivors have time to register

Ik when I play doc and have illusionary pallets, survivors sit there a second longer thinking "uh oh" lol
