Does Dark Theory need a Buff?
Yoichi's perks in general arn't amazing but Parental Guidence and Empathic Connection at least compliment the builds they're meant for in a way that matters for what they wanna do.
Dark Theory on the other hand doesn't really do anything? The speed boost is barely noticeable and having to be in the boon is pretty restrictive to what you can do with it. I understand increasing the percentage could be too strong although I don't think 3% would be the end of the world. If you wanted to buff it I feel like it needs another effect like maybe revealing your aura to everyone if you're in the boon? At least then it might have some solo queue value if your team can see "oh this person is looping" or "oh there's someone on that gen over there".
So does Dark Theory need a buff and if so how would you buff it?

Yes. But I'd change current effect rather than increase number.
That 2% haste buff can be crutch sometime but it's not worth a slot compared to CoH, SS, Expo.

Dark Theory is a bad design,it needs to be bad because survivor movement speed can get out of hand really quickly.

I would change the effect to vault speed

Dark theory need a new effect the issue with boons if that the interesting effects like recover from exhaust ,healing...would break the game thats why the speed bonus is so low.

I agree with the crowd saying a rework would be better. It's one of those perks in the family of Fast Track and others that is hilariously bad with its current numbers but could easily become overpowered with even a slight percentage increase.

Garbage tier perk like other boons. Except CoH, all boons are so garbage.

It should be at least 10% out of the killer tr. Not broken if the killer is chasing you, but usable

10% is looks so broken, i have to say no.

No, Dark Theory is already OP. When you know the good spots this boon create infinites.
Best map for it : Badham, and use Dark Theory + Shadow Step on the totem in the school, then you have infinite loops.

2% movement speed does not make any difference lol. You can not even feel. Garbage perk.
And your problem is that Badham School is op, even without DT. This is map issue, not perk.

Yes, but boons need to be redesigned first. Until then it can’t be buffed

Dark Theory is in that weird spot that it’s borderline useless in its current state, but upping the number could see it become busted very, very quickly.
Then again, with the boon “counter” coming soon, they might just go in that direction anyway.

I can see the difference and it is the difference required to create infinites.
But no problem dont use this perk so Im the only one using it and I can keep my secret strong underrated OP builds for me 😊

Meddling with movement speed is always a bad idea. Such a perk should have never been introduced in first place as it is always too weak or too strong. The perk needs a full rework.

Please, record a video as surv and show it to us, please

What is this Fast Track blasphemy.
I sometimes run that when I solo queue and it's saved my ass on that last generator more than a few times.

I don't think you can buff the perk to 3%, because that means that + Hope/Blood Pact will make you the same speed as 110% killers. I already once had a game with Dark Theory, Hope and Blood Pact all active against a Hag and she just couldn't catch my buddy and I. We'd hug loops (with no pallets) so tight, we'd create distance on her and if she placed a trap we'd just run around a different loop. It was kind of surreal, but at least we sacrificed 3 perk slots to be able to do that in an endgame.
It needs a secondary effect instead, like also making vault speeds 10% faster or something, but movement speed is not something that should be touched.

I dont have a video but I remember playing against a Demogorgon and I know with his m2 he could have hit me in some corners but with Dark Theory he just missed.
It was around the car near the school. Impossible for him to M2 me, and he was really good.
And in the school I tried it many times against different killers they just left the chase lmao
My build for the boon Overcome, Dark Theory, Shadowsteps, Circle of Healing.
It was really nice for indoor maps too.

I would argue Shadow Step is decent. It’s obviously not overpowered or anything but it does do work for survivors who take advantage of it. I know as a killer I’ve definitely occasionally missed survivors because of it.
Exponential is kind of niche, I agree that one is weak.
Dark Theory is odd because I think it might be very weak against 115% speed killers but against 110% speed killers it might create possible infinite loops if they can’t find avenues to land their special attacks. Plus hypothetically if all the survivors use Dark Theory they can cover a decent area of the map in it which would give them edges on chases throughout the game. It’d be really interesting to know what the stats look like if you pivot out escape rates by number of survivors using Dark Theory, especially if there are mythical squads that intentionally all run it.

Same problem as Mettle of Man, but arguably worse, because MoM has a relieving result. Seems fun if you can make Dark Theory work with Blood Pact and Hope though.
