Is a VPN required to play at higher MMR now?
Every time I seem to be putting on pressure as a result of reckless survivor playstyles, I'm met with one distinct reaction each time:
"Disconnected from host"
I'm not in the habit of checking my ping every 10 seconds, if I don't see a little green bar, I back out the match. Things were smooth and dandy my first week back, but once I kissed those higher MMRs I started noticing that anytime I'm tightening the screws or denying gen rush attempts, my game crashes and I'm met with This exact scenario.
I'm honestly terrified of winning now because I don't want to be one of the horror stories here or on reddit where they can't play for 3 days straight. Am I going to need a VPN just to even remotely have a chance of finishing a match? because Google is already my DNS and no device that isn't mine can even see my wifi.
Also, I really don't think that "Wake up" bug has been fully patched but rather SWFs on some private Discord somewhere found a new way to crash the killer's game. Because there are two common denominators, and I think they're even in a prior stream(s) as it has been something I've noticed:
-I'm putting A LOT of pressure on most of the team
-There's someone on the team whom has given no notification nor have I seen their presence
Call it baseless paranoia, but I'd be willing to bet a perkless trapper match that in each scenario one of the SWFs prepares to trigger the crash while the remainder of the team go probe the killer to see if he's either good or has perks that nullify their plan. If the killer does too much damage, they crash him out of the match. I'll refer you to the first four words of this paragraph before moving on to my last point. It's DBD, there's always going to be a tasty exploit in each chapter. I just don't think this little crash gremlin is fully patched out is all.

It's extremely unlikely you're at high MMR with those perks and those Survivors were NOT good.
It's likely it's your internet. Call your ISP.
If you were on console, I'd be more concerned about a DDoS hit, but since you're on PC, my knowledge (limited as it is) says it is HIGHLY unlikely you're getting purposefully crashed.
Is it possible? Certainly. Is it likely? No.

Nope. This is happening to me as well actually. It doesn't happen when I play survivor. But when I'm playing killer, occasionally the game will crash and it'll say disconnected from host. And I know for a fact I'm not at high MMR. But it's the exact same thing as what's happened to you. At this point I'm kinda convinced it's a DBD issue and not my internet. Because this has never happened to me before when I had played killer.

It has been for quite a while, although I personally only get DDoS-ed once or twice a month nowadays.

This was definetly not High MMR, red rank doesn't mean high MMR. Maybe you got a connection issue for half a second and you got disconnected from the host (which is the server you're playing on). If a "hacker" ends the game, you will see all survivors escaping as the icon in the leaderboard, but none of them escaped. So this was just a connection issue, it happens sometimes, even for half a second. So don't worry!

My dude, Perks don't make a killer. and I can still count on one hand how many times I've lost this week. I can run the game perkless at this point. I've owned this game more than one time, so it would help your cause to get some more information 1st

That looks like a problem with your ISP like someone already said when a hacker finishes the game everyone appears as escaped but they still appeared as ingame.
Plus thats not high MMR at all, the way they played, the sheer amount of mistakes, lack of looping skills, thats low-medium MMR at best, just look at their perks, 1 Dead Hard, 2 rank2 IW (which isnt even good unless at rank3) and 1 Spine Chill (paired with Premonition) instead they had Dark Sense, Better Together, RED HERRING!!, 2 Sabotages etc, high MMR is almost always 4 Dead Hards and a combination of several DSs, BTs, IWs and Spine Chills, all at rank3.
Ill call it baseless paranoia, the part with about the Wake Up bug not being fixed and only know on some pesky SWFs discord bully squad is a bit absurd, 3 probe the Killer and 1 prepares the crash? come on...
P.D. Actually watching the perks and comparing them to the graph the developers gave about perk usage at different MMRs 1 DH user sits at 950 MMR

I had the same issue and it turned out I needed a front facing IP address added to my internet service. Whether I pay more because my provider changed their service, or whether DBD changed theirs, I can’t tell you. I can tell you it’s not the survivors cheating in this case.
