"winners" saying "gg" when it was obviously a stomp match, bad manners?
what part of getting wiped by an artist in a hold 2 or face a lose lose situation, or on another extreme a slugging nurse for 30 minutes, is any fun?
or on the opposite survivors getting eyrie/game 4 man escape with only 2 hooks, in a match with 500 deadhards and coh while playing an m1 killer. what would honestly be good about the match was it fun? did everyone brought cakes and party streamers?

so if I 4k, I should not say GG.
k got it
25 -
Gg is just good sportsmanship, that's all.
If you have issue with it, disable chat.
28 -
Funny coming from a survivor
In my experience, 90+% of the matches where i 4k, nobody says a thing
Funny enough, 90+% of the matches where i 0k i got "ggs"
Go figure :)

If you can’t handle someone telling you they thought it was a good game that’s a reflection on you, not them.
7 -
It's not bm in itself. Someone, you just type out of habit. Although, I usually don't say anythingin those situations. For the simple fact that a lopsided game is not a good game in my book, regardless of which end of the stick I I got.
5 -
I find it slightly bm if they say it in the first 0.5 seconds of the chat coming up.
0 -
If all they did was curb stomp my team, I assume they're saying it in good faith
If they were a jerk during the match (letting people bleed out for no reason, face camping at 5 gen, actual tunneling, mocking the killer with clicky clicks and/or tbags, etc) I assume they're being a jerk and sarcastic with their GG
3 -
I never say anything.
Problem solved.
2 -
I would not really call it "bad manners". But I would question if the person who said "gg" would have also said it if they would have lost.
Because it is quite obvious that a Survivor Team who had a DC and lost a game at 5 Gens due to that or a Killer who got 2 Hook in total did not have a good game. So saying "gg" in those situations is wrong IMO.
But some people just say it after every game so it is not really to rub anything in.
If the other side had a bad game, I usually wait if they say anything. If a Killer got only 4 Hooks and way stomped, but they still say "gg", I say "gg" as well. Same if Survivors did not have a good game, if they still say "gg", I will say it as well. But I wont be the first one to say it if the other side had a bad game.

...seriously at this point what do yall NOT consider BM / toxic
If you stomp me I say gg, you played well (or i played badly and deserved it)
If I stomp you i say gg, you either tried your best or you cared more about memes and entertainment than winning (and a fun game is a good game)
5 -
######### me for trying to be polite ig, if you don't think it wasn't a good game then just say nothing and move on
7 -
And what about when you face the same team twice and they only say "gg" in they game they win?
Sadly "gg" doesn't mean what it should in this game with this community.
0 -
Gg ez baby surv.
8 -
This reply cut the Wound pretty Deep
1 -
Idc I'll still say it to be polite and move on
2 -
This community is so weird. I wouldn't consider it bm, I tend to say "gg" regardless of the outcome. (Unless I'm playing survivor and I die very early, since I'd move on to a new game.)
Though I remember getting hard stomped in tf2 and I'd still say "gg" after the match. Maybe it's just habits developed from then.
1 -
I get where you're coming from, fake positivity, saying "gg" only when you shitstomp the other side, when they'd probably talk ######### when they lose. Not exacly being a good sport, just rubbing it in. Who knows if they're doing it to be a dick or not. Could be habit or could be something else.
Wanna know the solution? Never bother engaging, opening or looking at post game chat. Nothing to be gained there. I enjoy the game more when I get into the habit of never checking it. Shame I can't remove it outright only hide it.
1 -
because the survivors that are dead have moved on to the next match.
Nobody is going to wait until every other survivor has died or escaped just to say gg.
1 -
gg only if I 4k or survive!
0 -
I'd only gg if I were to escape or if I killed 3+. So I never say it because it wouldn't always be genuine.
0 -
thats just how it works in my experience
Survivors only say GG if they 4 escape and Killers only say it if they 4k
funniest ones to me is when a survivor gives up on hook or dcs at the start so everyone else gives up too and the killer will say GG lol
2 -
If you can't accept a GG then it's bad sportsmanship. Afterall, this is just a GAME. Honestly, even if the killer gets a 4K against us, if we had to run back and forth and it was fun, I'll say GG.
0 -
Should be 'good effort' or 'bad luck' or 'good luck next game'
GG Should mean exactly that, its a dig
1 -
I'd like to think they were being nice. That being said, for some it can certainly come off as condescending, especially after a one-sided match.
1 -
Let me answer you without hipocresy.
"GG" usually means good game, but people use it regardless of how the match when, is like "religion".
So even if they stomp you they will say "gg" because I think they forgot what "gg" means and yeah, its usually used for BM.
3 -
Chat window should be closed while you play killer.
0 -
Perhaps they meant "get good"?
1 -
Is this really the point we have come to in this game? Its simply just good manners to say GG. You have two option learn to swallow your pride or close the chat window if something like this upsets you this much.
1 -
I don't buy the narrative that assumes the gg is always genuine. I love when it's one of those 4 man squads that starts body blocking at 5 gens, playing like it's a comp match (with second chance perks, dead hard galore and a map offering) and you only get 2 hooks and then they all say gg to each other knowing full well the match was trash for the killer. I'm sorry but there is nothing good about it lol. I'm not saying don't say gg but don't expect the feeling to be mutual lol.
3 -
So I guess we need chat to censor gg now?
1 -
BHVR is a few steps ahead, the Chat Filter actually censors "gg" from time to time.
2 -
Because most likely the 3 survivors who died first moved on to the next game vs 4 survivors escaping at the same time? It's obvious that there'll be a difference in the amount of people saying 'gg' in these two scenarios.
When I die as the first or second survivor in solo queue, I don't stick around to see how my team does. If I'm the third to die, it's a 50/50 if I wanna see how the final survivor does. If I'm the last survivor I always say gg unless the killer played like a prick or tried to get a reaction out of people, then I just leave.
I just see it as good sportsmanship to say gg if I stick around to the end of the game, I don't expect others to say it back and I definitely won't get mad if they don't. Even in killer matches where I get rekt, I still say gg, even if I feel it was the opposite.
0 -
I mean in the last scenario they deserve it, if you play an m1 killer expect to lose because you choose that when you choose that killer, the survivors dunked on you, they have the right to bm if they desire.
0 -
Wait really? Can’t say I’m surprised.
0 -
so you'd rather the other person be dead silent after they 4k?
I bet you that would make you even more mad.
0 -
I say gg whether I win or lose. It's a reflection of appreciating the other team's effort--to me at least!
2 -
No, those are good manners. I admit, whenever gens are done in 5 minutes and they are gone, I wonder why they feel compelled to go out of their way to send me a gg. I am console, so they actively send me a message as opposed to end game chat. But I never really get offended and just return the favor with a "gg, you played really well." Most of them end up being polite and my initial skepticism is never confirmed. You know why? Because toxic players do not bother with gg. They just get straight to the point.
2 -
If its a stomp? its bad manners, its like winning 10-0 in football and telling the other team "good game", it wasnt a good game, it wasnt even a game, it was an humilliation. If the losing team says it first or its a win but a close game or at least somewhat balanced? its not bad manners then.
Most times I see a winning side writing "gg" after a clear stomp is almost always an attempt to fish salt.

To be fair, a lot of the times when you 4k, it's highly unlikely you 4ked all the survivors at once. Most survivors don't have a reason to stick around in the game after they've died since they could just ready up and get into the next one instead of waiting
Whereas when you have a 4 man escape, they're all in the end screen at once
0 -
People only like to say gg when they win
1 -
Survivors saying gg after a 4 escape could be them telling it to the other Survivors, I still think its a bit disrespectful and I believe saying "good saves", "good looping", "nice team" or something related to Survivor actions could be seeing as less cocky than simply saying "gg" as the Killer knows the person is congratulating the team.
1 -
I'm honestly very surprised but disappointed at how many people take "GG" as a way to rub it in, spread toxic positivity, or is used for BM.
GG or good game doesn't always mean good as in a "win" for whatever side said it. Good game means that it was a good effort, despite the loss ━ good sportsmanship, when they had every opportunity to be toxic ━ being a good team player, even if dying meant giving your team mate one more chance.
If a game spoils your mood and thought process so much to where you think a "GG" (coming most likely from a good sportsmanlike place) is used to BM or rub a loss in your face more ━ maybe you should worry less about the other players and more on how you're actually projecting your own unsportsmanlike behavior onto others.
3 -
DBD the only pace where even saying good game is an insult.
I love how the idea of simulated brutal murder doesn't offend folks but the mere idea that someone would have to audacity to be polite post game is just upsetting and disgusting.
I thought horror fans would have thicker skins than this, but I see that its really just a bunch of emotionally unstable glass egos.
Maybe rather than assuming gg is a taunt and upsetting yourself, say gg back and build a lil positivity in the online game experience.
1 -
Yes. But does not happen all the time.
I guess it checks other Chatmessages to avoid using multiple Messages to write out Slurs. And well, both the N- and F-Word use "gg" in the middle, so maybe it checks if the other letters were written and censors it.
0 -
Thats the weirdest thing of all, the "from time to time".
I also had some stuff censored in one game and then not in the next and often it makes you seem like a jerk when the **** are placed In an ambiguous part of a sentence.

Okay that's one of the most ######### up mindsets i have seen on here since i am on this forum.
Because the killer didn't pick the strongest character survivor have the right to BM as they like?
So the other way around when survivor don't swf with comms and use meta perks the killer is free to BM to their hearts content?
Please tell me this is sarcasm i didn't pick on or you are high, because otherwise I have to really question your state of mind.
"The opposition didn't try their hardest so i am free to shittalk them" 🤦 Good riddance, just the idea.
1 -
I would love to see more people say gg when they lost. it might be BM if the killer is facecamping on 5 gens left or tunneling that hard to get his first kill on 3rd hook in the game, or when clicky tbags say gg afterwards. but it is absolutely, I would even say, recommended to say gg if it was a normal, fair game. as said above, this is purely sportsmanship. after a fair game of soccer, denying the handshake is BM, not the handshake if you played way better than the other team.
"would have said it if they would have lost" is already a problem in this community. expecting the worst and reacting to it before it happens. is at least what I noticed too often. if the other side had a bad game, you can still say gg. this is not like saying "nananana naaa naaa". at least the other(s) played the game, getting some good chases and enjoy as much as possible, instead of just idling in the corner or making noise. as long as there is no B; in game, there is no need to expect BM on someone saying gg.

"DBD is the only place"?
Now just imagine any sport, for example basketball, and the match goes 25/0 for multiple sets.
And now imagine being on the losing side and getting told "good game" by the winners.
Does that feel good or sportsmanlike? At least i think not. It feels like an additional slap in the face. It obviously wasn't a good game but a one-sided slaughter and the winner didn't have a challenge and the loser not a chance. Empty or negative feelings for everyone involved.
A GG after something like that feels often like the "misery cherry" on top.
But in video games it has become the norm by now that only the victors say GG and the loser say nothing. I see it nearly every day in league and saw it in rocket league, rainbow 6 siege and overwatch.

Nothing wrong with saying gg.
If you say gg ez that’s bm.

I'll always say GG, nothing more nothing less
do what you want with it. Be flattered, be insulted, I don't care, GG.
