I always thought Artist thematically from appearance to music seemed very Tim Burton inspired with the exaggerated thin limbs and frantic but less serious sounding chase music.

My assumption was that Artist is one huge The Birds (1963) reference, and the violins hint at Hitchcock's love of strings to represent danger.
