Can we get REAL changes to the way the game is played?
Maybe its time to re-imagine how the game is played...is it possible to get rid of gens altogether and give each survivors a new escape mechanic depending on the killer they are paired with? Can Killers get a fear mechanic that affects the motor skills of survivors?

After 6 years of working on it it’s way too late to make those sort of changes

Changes that large would more than likely be bugged for months or straight up never function as advertised.
Its been a year and Nemesis zombies still do nothing the majority of the match.

I'd respectfully disagree...they've spent six years adding an occasional map and bringing in new characters to boost profit, but they cant make a real change that is going to exponentially make game play better? That seems counter intuitive

changing the entire game after 6 years is a great way to piss off the consumer base they currently have with no guarantee they can make up the numbers.

You would really get pissed as playing as a survivor that has to deal with FEAR, one of the most important components of Horror? Or if youre me as a Killer main, I'm supposed to get mad about watching gens go away and giving me a way to impart fear on survivors that helps me capture them??

The problem with changing the whole game mechanic is that it's no longer DbD. There's probably plenty of people who don't mind the base mechanics of how you escape and wouldn't necessarily want to see the game totally changed into something else. At that point, you can just play a different game, which I'm sure many people would be upset investing time and money into DbD if they would totally recreate the game. It's also not that easy changing code like that. Retroactively changing code to change mechanics would be such a pain and probably easier making a new game from the ground up. If DbD dies and BHVR jumps ship, then maybe you can get a new game with different base mechanics.

That idea sounds more like a recommandation for a complete new game, or rather a new gamemode. I would'nt be against that actually.

Only side objectives for the survivors can be added in my opinion. For example; finding items for the generator, fix or break breakable walls and maybe more.
But the Devs have to give up on some things if they want similar changes, like giving up on pallets if the survivors have something new to help them during the chase.
The game has evolved over the years to be what it is now, there is no way they will change the game completely other than add new stuff or rework some things for better gameplay.

I'm just spitballing, I cant be the only one thats tired of the same old stuff. But if I am then fine I'll shut up

You're not the only one, but that amount of change is more like a DbD 2. They'll only make small adjustments to the game we have .
Maybe one day

I just love the idea of playing a version of this game where I as Freddy no longer have a fear radius, and get to really enjoy the aspect of the movie version Freddy where he gets to play with his victims by increasing their fear. And if you're a survivor main, imagine starting a game where your in your PJs and laying in your bed, at which point the game starts in the dream sequence and your top priority is to find the alarm clock or a way to wake yourself up from the dream world as an escape. I guess its more of a story mode mechanic for the game so its more about the aspects that we all like as opposed to 5 gens and escape or 4k and I win.

I suggest you maybe look into smaller indie horror games or other games that are more atmospheric or story based objectives. If what you are suggesting is the type of experience you want, I don't think DbD could ever give you that type of experience. DbD doesn't really have that type of atmospheric feel to it and I'm afraid it will always be some type of grind the objective no matter what changes you make.

Yeah I agree with that take Amazing, but I think its a shame. This game could be so much more than it is

Maybe it time for YOU to play a different game

Yeah maybe, sorry to get you butthurt over a suggestion.

it'll never happen. More variety would be interesting but gens are a core mechanic. It'd be like Mega Man without the Buster or Mario without shrooms.

I dont think i am the one thats butthurt here, i didnt start a thread suggesting we change the whole game!

No you didn't, but you certainly responded in the negetive because I made a suggestion....one that certainly didnt sit well with you, so much to the point that you'd rather see me go then stay and try to help make it better. Nah this is a you problem my dude

What you're proposing does sound really interesting, but I have to agree that changing the gameplay that much would turn DBD into a whole different game (hopefully someone makes a game like that!). The strategies involved with gen repair, gen regression / protection, 3-gen avoidance or 3-gen plans (killer), combined with looping, mindgames, totem plays etc. make up the DBD gameplay. It can get boring at times, but it's also something that's straightforward and that people are used to. And many people love getting better at chases (me included!).
BHVR has mentioned that they've played around with different objectives for DBD, but that none of them really fit well (can't remember the exact words). Having a game with different objectives, especially depending on which killer you're facing sounds cool, and maybe BHVR (or someone else) makes a game like that in the following years :)

its not a "me problem" its your problem and yes i would rather see you go than the whole game be changed into something completely different

We can't just turn dbd into Evil Dead the Game man.
