Even after 4 years playing DBD, l still don't know how premonition works.

Why do you use Premonition over Spine Chill?

Yes. I’ve used it, and I prefer it more. It’s highly ineffective on maps with multiple floors though like Midwich. It shoots a degree cone from where you aim your camera, and not where your body is facing. So you aim your camera left to right like a security cam (Haha). It works in the sense that you know which angle a killer is actually coming. This works incredibly well with Fixated. Once you know what direction a killer is surely coming from you can position yourself away from the killers camera line of sight. During cooldown you can play like you regularly would.
Spine Chill is good for the passive buffs it gives, but I hate that it procs whenever a killer is facing you. Why? When killers realize you have it they will actually begin to moonwalk in your direction so that it doesn’t activate as quick.
I’ve seen them do this with Premonition as they think I have Spine Chill. Nope. I see you coming every time, and from the general direction too.

I used to love Premonition when I first started playing, but as the need to speed the game along grew over time, I had to drop it.

How it works is that when your camra is facing the killer within a certain range you get a noise notification. It helps determine the direction the killer is.

Yep you sumed up the reason I use premonition over spine chill.

Premonition has certain things going for it the benefits me and my playstyle. While the buffs that spine chill gives is good I often times find myself running into the killer then away because all it does is say that the killer is looking at you not where they are looking from
It's also really good for stalling and stealth. I have been able to delay and even avoid chases because I was able to run in the complete opposite direction from the killer.

Premonition is a cool perk in theory but very bad in practice. Another exemple of bad perk balance.

No, and I never use spine chill either

Not a single sane person would give up Spine chill over premonition.
Premonition has a cooldown, and it's only good thing is telling you the direction, Which isn't accurate anyway, cuz of it's wide af range.
Spine chill maybe doesn't give you directions, but you have eyes to look around. And no cooldown + speeding up actions just wins over Premonition

I used it once when me and my friends were using perk randomizer and it was one of my favourite matches of all time against blight on midwitch, we managed to 4e but it was super close, we were playing super well since we had the shittiest of perks.
Other than that since chill is just superior

I used it few times trying to do the rift challenge but I failed and gave up. Spine chill is just much better but I don't use them as I don't want to hide while match and chases are most fun as survivor unless it's good nurse so then hiding is only option.

The killer is in control of the perk, and wise killers can use it against you. I just can’t sit well with that.
Usually when I have Premonition it’s to find the killer for a reason. When I use Premonition to find the killer I’ll break all the hooks in the area without notifications. Find injured/carried survivors so I can body block to activate MoM.
It’s a very good Solo Q perk imo. Maybe because I solo most of the time it works for what I intend on doing. Spine Chill is literally remote viewing with SWFs though. 😂
