Is playing like this really necessary?

Ah yes, then we're talking about the same thing: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/61114/community-community-data-requests ?
More than half of survivors are solo queue.

Devs even admit those are old from 2019.... "These are a bit old at this point" -Peanits reposted those in 2020
"These are very general statistics, so use caution before drawing any conclusions."
It is safe to assume that 50% of your matches has some form of SWF in them, and that was 3 years ago, game population doubled in that time LOL

Absolutely! But the caution was kinda my point — nowhere in there had the devs said 70% of all games are SWFs using comms, and we can't really extrapolate out from old statistics based on gut feelings. ;)

Okay, as I said though, safe to assume if 50% is solo, 50% is not. And that means 50% are swf in some form. Ill concede the 70% however devs DID post stats that showed 70% at one time and we have no real modern stats, so according to devs it did in fact range from 50-70%
I found the stats from the October 5 dev stream interesting. Especially the survivor groups distribution:
4 strangers = 30%
2 friends + 2 strangers = 34.1%
2 friends + 2 friends = 9.5%
3 friends + 1 stranger = 17.9%
4 friends = 8.5%
This shows that 70% of all games contain SWF
--------------------------------------
As I said, devs own stats have shown 50-70 and thats before Switch was added and before this modern popularity of game, all stats are from 2017-2019 we have none that show us the current population. Comms and gaming with friends has definitely increased over past 3 years in dbd
