Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

What to do about Beast of Prey and Territorial Imperative

I love Huntress and I’ve mained her since she released but two things I’ve always noticed are these two perks have slowly lost there luster.

Beast of Prey removes the red stain after getting a stack of bloodlust, but you’re a 6 foot 5 Russian woman / Ox. They can still see you.

Territorial Imperative is good IF you get someone in the basement, the only problem is some maps the basement is not a easy walk to find.

What do you guys think could change to make these perks stack up to newer ones?

Removing the range requirements on territorial would be a start

I'd perhaps make beast of prey make you gain bloodlust faster in addition to the undetectable (this could either be broken or useless tho not sure)

territorial should have another purpose entirely, no one cares if someone went into the basement or not but am not sure what it'd change to

I always thought Territorial should just effect hooks that survivors are on.

    • Stealth during a chase is pretty useless, personally I like the idea of Beast of Prey speeding up Bloodlust increment ticks by, say, 2/3/4 seconds each.
    • Territorial imperative might be ok if it had no range and/or time restriction. You just see auras of people in the basement, full stop.

Territorial would be... better if it had no range requirement. Still not a great perk, but there'd be more utility for it beyond teleporting killers playing basement games. Maybe slap a weak secondary effect on that and it'd be alright.

Beast of Prey needs to just do something else, I think. Undetectable in chase has some good utilities, to the point where I think being undetectable in chase 100% of the time would be too good... but any effect linked to Bloodlust is going to be inherently terrible because it requires you to be losing a chase to activate.

The nice thing about Undetectable in chase is that it hides the red stain. It's free mindgames without having to moonwalk or do any other funky approaches. It's especially good on shorter killers, but anyone who isn't super tall or has stompy footsteps can make good use of it.

Just having no TR in chase is pointless, though. Situations where it changes anything are going to be few and far between.

Beast of Prey I honestly think they should scrap and try again. It could still revolve around bloodlust, as there aren't any other perks that interact with it, but maybe something like "Reduces the amount of time it takes to enter each stage of bloodlust by 5 seconds. However, the speed bonus received from each stage of bloodlust is reduced by 25%. Any survivor you are in chase with while you gain a stage of bloodlust now receives a sound notification when it occurs. After losing chase with a survivor while in bloodlust, you retain bloodlust for an additional 3/4/5 seconds."

So, instead of getting a flat +0.2 speed boost every 15 seconds in chase, you get a +0.15 speed boost every 10 seconds in chase, and the survivors have a tell so they can make a decision as to how risky they should play. Since bloodlust resets after the killer is forced to destroy a pallet, this seems like an interesting, fair perk that could have some usefulness on killers who have to spend significant amounts of time in chase before they can get the hit, like Pig, Legion outside of Feral Frenzy, and Sadako, and possibly force pallets down more quickly on more of these lower tier killers so they don't get looped to oblivion.

Of course, messing with movement speed can be tricky, so this idea might suck da booty.

A while ago I did an "overhaul" of bad killer perks, those are my shots at Huntress' perks. (Looking back I think i might made numbers of Beast of Prey a bit to big - maybe 10/15/20 Seconds)

Beast of Prey is one of the perks I use on all my killers. Specifically for the BP, but I do think that it confuses survivors when the red stain disappears.

Whatever changes are made to it, the important thing is that the BP boost stays or is increased.

The problem with those perks that aren't BBQ and Chili and We're Gunna Live Forever is that they don't allow you to negate the cap so they don't help all that much in that area. I think it'd just be better if all perks that boosted blood points no longer did this and you just got 100% blood points that you do now. If you really want to be technical you could use the same requirements as BBQ and WGLF.

I think making Beast of Prey merely speed up the bloodlust progress would be a start of keeping its original design. Undetectable is very powerful so it has to be used cautiously.

Why not just remove the CD from Territorial and let you always see people in basement if they step in, then as well as have the tiers reduce the range requirement? It's not like anyone uses it for anything but Adepts.

If we can increase Bloodpoint gains across the board, then sure, the BP boosts attached to perks could be trashed. If we're just talking about the individual perks in DbD as the game is right now, then I'd like to keep the BP boosts.

I think survivors would prefer the Undetectable status over quicker Bloodlust, as some of the common complaints I've seen are that Bloodlust should be removed and killers are too fast at 115% speed (that latter one is ridiculous and killers won't be made slower, but it shows that survivors would not be okay with killers having an easier way to be faster). Plus, there's a perk that makes killers faster already, Play With Your Food, and that has some really limiting requirements on it, showing that extra speed is not something BHVR takes lightly. Meanwhile, mind gaming is seen as one of the more fun aspects of chases, and stealth killers are considered weak overall, making the Undetectable status the easy winner in terms of which effect is less powerful.
