i swear it feels like every pc player is cheating
and I'm not talking about about how good they play because i suck, i know that's what u were thinking
I'm talking about the amount of private profiles on survivors
Holy hell I've never seen this amount of private profiles in a community before
I swear every time you try to check how many hours someone has or literally anything you just get hit with with private profile
like is every pc player insecure? or yall just subtle cheating , because I'm a killer main, which you know sparks more salt and toxicity then survivors, and my profile is as public as it can get.
i know this has nothing to do with Bhvr since this is a steam option, but why so many, are you really that afraid of people calling you bad in game, or u just doing something fishy
like i honestly (mostly, holy hell i just forgot to add it here) reported every single private profile even if I killed them, not that i meet them that often anyways, NA is filled with console players which i kinda feel bad sometimes for.
moral of this post? i have no idea, I guess I'm saying its fine to suck (even with the ludicrous of crutch perks that survivors have)
i know this is in usual post but hot damn I might just start dodging pc players if everyone is just gonna private their profile
Edit : please feel free to ignore most of the post and the fact hackers take huge advantage of private profile and just tell me that because i got "outplayed" and im bad i decided to report someone and get them banned, surely that's the whole point of this post, and when i said mostly even if killed them, its mainly cuz they did some sketchy stuff im not about to report someone for outplaying like everyone is implying or that my "feelings" are hurt, if u play this game for more than an hour forget feelings or u will get hit by a rock to the face.

Basically if this guy can't rant on your profile you must be a cheater.
Makes perfect sense if you think about it
36 -
Not everyone wants salty players leaving comments on their profile or jump on their profile and pick something random they saw to insult you with.
And honestly you sound like the kind of person people private their profiles for. You are looking for an excuse to why you lost the match and blaming it on private profiles.
27 -
what is wrong with you seriously
im not ranting have a private profile raises some alarms especially if u pull someone god like in game
1 -
or maybe im just getting suspect because they pull something that looked a little fishy and their private profile might just salt to the wound
because you know, even tho im not sure if the report system works or not, a lot of people mass reporting someone even if they are innocent can lead to an unfair ban
1 -
If you play on "high MMR" (something that you should be able to guess if you have enough experience), there is an higher chance to go against cheaters.
Usually, 1-stop shoppers, heavily numerical names and recent game bans are kind of suspect. The Epic accounts though are hard to check.
2 -
Hm maybe you're right but again just disable the comments, making it private can make it feel a bit fishy
you feel me?
0 -
It only takes a few stalkers and death threats to say hey private profile is the way to go.
Its not indicative of cheating.
The power to choose when and how you interact with joe public is an important power to have.
9 -
A private profile makes zero difference in someone's ability to cheat though. I'm not sure what the correlation is here. A lot of cheaters are API spoofing anyway, so the profile you see when you click their name isn't the profile they're actually logged in and playing on
8 -
that's the problem, with everyone having a private profile, they might pull something amazing and i or you know anyone they were playing against might start getting suspicious, then check their profile realize its private and report them even tho they weren't cheating
0 -
that's the first time i heard that
0 -
You report everyone with a private profile?
0 -
yea mostly
0 -
Are you honestly suspicious of private profiles? On a game where people are liable to spam you with salt or even harass you at related links, internet stalk, or even DDOS you for the high crime of playing to win?
Quit wasting Steam's time with spurious reports, you paranoid busybody.
9 -
You can deactivate comments and still show your profile...

A very good player and a subtle cheater are almost impossible to tell apart. Private Profiles on steam are okay, except for profiles with less than 1 year and less than 5 games on library. When those are private, it's simply TOO suspicious, 90% of the time they're either cheating, buying hacked "everything unlocked" accounts, smurfing, or any other shady activity. Recent profiles with only 1 game (DbD) are either cheating, have cheated on the past, or intend to cheat in the future, unless they are obviously baby players. Easy Anti Cheat has been proved over and over again that it does basically nothing to prevent cheaters in matches.
But more often than not, they are just good players with perks that are so busted they almost feel like a cheat.
Given some time, any killer main becomes paranoid and starts checking every single profile in the lobby before the match, just to dodge any potential cheater, or ######### we met before.
Also, BHVR needs to do something about the cheating situation. We see them being banned quite frequently, if we check people's streams. But only because they are streaming, and thus have the video evidence and both a report in-game (does absolutely nothing) and a ticket on the website (at the very least we know someone saw it before closing it). Without video evidence, the player can stay at the killer's face spamming scream notification and instantly getting up when downed, and nothing will ever happen. And the absolute vast majority of players doesn't record their matches. And so, cheaters are free to do whatever they want.
2 -
well sorry to say but i have my profile public, and i haven't got a single salt or toxicity and i player killer 90% of the time
so not sure what u are implying
0 -
finally someone who understands
0 -
People like you are the reason the profile is private.
9 -
I've done that and then had people go onto images I uploaded for completely different games to leave salt comments. Some people make it a point to harass people and privating your profile is the easiest way to counter it.
1 -
lmao what
4 -
Players complain about toxicity in community, they get told to make their profiles private to avoid it only to get people like you reporting them for making their profiles private. 🙄
2 -
that just makes no sense
why would u private your profile to get reported
what?
0 -
Let me get this straight: you report any profile that is private???? JFC this community is ridiculous
13 -
I'm implying that you're attempting to get people banned for no reason. Stop doing that. It's not your business if people keep their profile private and it is by no means an indicator of nefarious intent.
Also, mine's public and I've never gotten so much as a -rep in 2800 hours. Doesn't really mean ######### though, because I rarely sweat and I try not to let games end too early. If you camp or tunnel or play Nurse/Blight with meta perks, you're going to get swarmed with people telling you to unalive yourself in short order. I'll sometimes check profiles in postgame out of curiosity and dear god, the monuments I've seen erected on the pages that weren't private... plus you never know when you're going to get matched with a weirdo who takes their L like you killed their firstborn child and decides to hold an internet vendetta. If people don't want to deal with that, it's not your business, and it hardly means they're cheating when they happen to beat you.
3 -
Because after being called a slur for killing the 90th survivor in the year 2018 I had enough and changed it
9 -
You just answered your own question.
Pc players have their profile private because players stalk your profile. I don't want 500 messages from players telling me to k*** myself everyday.
6 -
Imho it's kinda easy to be a good killer with mouse/keyboard, it's harder to get good at looping, killer gameplay is "easy" I was a decent killer from the get go but a terrible surv
0 -
so let me get this straight, checking someone's profile so u can either dodge them because they might be cheating is stalking?
so you would rather let ur profile be private, get some people suspicious probably get reported falsely even tho u weren't cheating is perfectly fine?
and im pretty sure u can just disable the comments buts let's just pretend that nobody knows that's a thing
1 -
Hey I don't know if you're aware of this, but there's plenty of reasons people might run private profiles or private profile elements (comments, comment permission, game details (hours/achievements), friends list) that has absolutely nothing to do with DBD. You're not entitled to a single breadcrumb of information someone might choose to display on their profile, you're only entitled to the exact amount of information they decide to share.
You're not only engaging in weird privacy shaming of the most "you don't need privacy if you got nothing to hide haha!" type there is, but you even admit to grossly false report people, potentially wasting someone working on Steam's community elements time. If anyone deserves to be banned it's you.
10 -
Why did I make my profile friends-only? Because I have no need to swim in salty comments, nor will I ever understand why some people thrive on such schadenfreude. I just don't want to deal with that #########.
Private Profile =/= cheater/hacker. It's more a sign of hypocrisy than anything.
1 -
You'd have a point if you were just dodging private profiles (though some people private their profiles because killers will dodge if a survivor's hours are too high or if they're friends with other survivors in the lobby, and agree or disagree with whether that's fair, you can't deny there's sense in that.)
But seeing as you're reporting everyone with a private profile, I think they have a ######### point about the stalking.
Do you honestly not see anything wrong with this??? Why do you feel so entitled to see people's information in an online game?
5 -
Or contact your friends to tell them to tell you to ######### if your friend list is public.
It's great fun. Even if everything is private sometimes you get friend requests, presumably so they can access your profile in case you use the "Friends Only" privacy setting.
🦆🦂
1 -
Profile comments, friend requests and such can all be disabled without making a private profile.
Fair point on stalking or threat. But no one would be dumb enough to cheat while keeping their profiles public for everyone to see their bans on other games for the same reason. Or would they?
Not even VPNs are 100% safe against DDOS, let alone making a private profile. But again, stalking and harassment are fair points.
Epic seems to have their own anti cheat measures, and they seem to work pretty well, at least way better than Anti Easy Cheat. But it's exclusive to their own games. But judging by what kind of players the predatory business model of Epic attracts, I wouldn't be surprised if people would be more willing to cheat via there. I mean, I got a pretty vast collection of games on Epic, some are AAA titles. And I never spent a single unit of currency on that platform. What ever would I have to lose if I were to cheat and get banned there? Even my DbD there was free.

To be brutally honest, you sound rather paranoid of cheaters. They're not that common.
4 -
i don't care about your information, its nice to meet pc players every now and then but when they all have private profiles im force to dodge people that have the same advantage as me and i said mostly im not reporting everyone
0 -
The last comments I got before making mine had some homophobia in them which was actually kinda funny
But they also called me a trickster main which is less forgivable
1 -
for the 4th time i guess
it makes people suspicious, you might pull something AMAZING and people will get suspicious and probably report you
FALSELY
and if u don't wanna swim in salt just disable the damn comments
0 -
get called something homophibic
is fine
get called Trickster main
UNFORGIVABLE
i like you lol
0 -
The only person being suspicious over private profiles is you. You are acting like everyone who decides for whatever reason to have a private profile is automatically a cheater and report them despite them doing absolutely nothing wrong.
And disabling comments do not stop people from finding other places to leave comments or insult you over something they can see on your profile in end game chat. Some people just don't want to deal with that ######### and the fact you want people to deal with harassment just so you can see their profiles is a very problematic.
4 -
My steam profile was always public, since I'm an achiever and like to brag with the number of my perfect games. I kept it that way for maybe the first 1k hours in DBD. But then it slowly showed that my public playtime will only be used to insult me. Whenever someone disliked the way I played, I might get something like "#k ourse and still abd in the game" or "#k and still camping/tunneling". So I changed my profile to private.
So when you are asking why players have a private profile, the answer may be because of toxic dipsh*t players who think the playtime argument has any value. It has not. It's by far the dumbest kind of argument you can bring forward to explain the actions of a player.
4 -
people should be able to keep their privacy without having to worry about being falsely reported
4 -
The anti-cheat is the same for everyone. The issue, if you'd call it that, with Epic is there aren't profile pages like on steam.
0 -
But you are already falsely reporting people and taking up the time of the staff who have to sift through your and other useless reports that could be used to get rid of real hackers and cheaters.
Just because someone is better than you and have a private profile does not mean thier cheating. Some people just want to be private and don't want people in their business like that.
3 -
how is it i never met this trigger happy survivors before, am i on the wrong boat, i mean i met a whole SWF squad with flashlights and one of them even told me to cut myself (the one i tunneled ), but never said anything bad in my profile or stalked me as people say, or did literally anything, they told me that and moved along
0 -
The fact that you're reporting anyone for having a private profile is far too much. Knock it off. You don't have even a shred of evidence that they're doing anything wrong, just baseless assumptions, and you're wasting some poor Steam employee's time. If god forbid your reports actually do anything, you are damaging other people's accounts for the cardinal sin of not displaying their information, their friends list, or letting people scribble graffiti all over their display. That's abuse of the report system and damn near malicious, and again, you are 100% justifying the complaints about stalking by taking such a weird and pitched interest in the state of other people's accounts that you'll assume they're cheaters and report them based on account status.
Seriously. What do you think about when people report you because "you couldn't have found me hiding in that locker" or "that gen got done too fast" or "that hit shouldn't have connected so you're hacking"? Because this is basically what you're doing.
3 -
THAT"S THE THING ABOUT THIS WHOLE DAMN POST
they might be better then me and pull something amazing
HOW THE HELL AM IS SUPPOSE TO KNOW if they are good or cheating
when i report i mainly put them under the damn radar either they cheating or not is up to the person checking them
0 -
my man u can literally disable everything and leave only somethings available to see
and nobody can comment on anything
does nobody even know how steam works?
0 -
You are checking somebody's profile in an attempt to find proof of cheating... there is a word for that "stalking.' Also checking people's profile before a match to dodge is sad.
Nobody thinks your sus because ur profile is private, that's just you." There is nothing to gain from a public profile, it's easier and safer to use "friends only" allows me to use my acount just fine
Lastly reporting someone for having a private acount is a false report and violates DBD and most platforms TOS and if you admit to doing this you should be banned. Also it's becausse of players who false report like you, it's difficult to deal with actual cheaters.
3 -
Why should I spend the time to perfectly craft my privacy settings just so you can see specific information from my profile? It's not even your business in the first place.
5 -
That's says you mostly reported every single private profile.
You're just coming off as paranoid and a sore winner/loser just looking for a reason to report others, private profile being the easiest and most convenient reason for you.
