Tips for surviving the dredge

I cant seem to figure out how to deal with him. For me, doing absolutely anything other than sitting in a corner during the darkening ability is suicide. And he always seems to know where I am at all times. What have you guys found to make him easier to deal with?

Well, his perk that reveals you whenever you are 8 meters away from a locker, whenever he searches one could be one thing. The locker locations are not really balanced around the Dredge, so he is very difficult to face right now.

Don't lock every locker, when dredge goes to a double locker they get dragged to the locked one so lock one and if they break out lock the other one after.

Dredge makes a lot of slimy noises during nightfall when they're close listen for those.

If they try to antiloop with the remnant just leave the loop dredge is slow af when channeling it.

Never stay injured against dredge it charges their nightfall faster when you are.

To add onto what people have said:

    • Lock a locker if you're working on that gen. Otherwise, don't.
    • Spinechill is amazing against him.
    • You can deactivate his remnant by touching it. If you see him poop one out though, it's generally better to leave that loop (he loses a lot of time maintaining it).
    • Do not hide in lockers during Nightfall.
    • During Nightfall, it's generally better to hold W than looping, unless you are very confident in your map knowledge.
    • Always, always heal people ASAP.
    • Basically, loop him until he poops a fragment (he's an M1 killer), then move to the next loop.

Eh. Some maps are really good for him. Others have very few lockers in decent positions, and are really bad for him.

If two lockers are directly next to each other only lock one when dredge teleports to a locker pair it auto goes to the locked one, this let's you double up on protection for gens

Aura perks like windows of opportunity or aftercare are super useful when it's dark. Woo for just getting around the map and in chases, aftercare for finding teammates for heals and find what gens they're working on. A key with add-on to see killer aura during nightfall is also pretty helpful.

Dang, this is all really helpful advice i appreciate that fellas. The windows of opportunity i should have been using to learn looping. I just started about a week ago and i am absolute garbage at survivor. Good looking out

I'm becoming a decent survivor, and I doubt I'll ever drop WOO. Simply knowing whether a pallet is there or not is game changing.

Don't hang out next to lockers if you can avoid it - he has some addons that will reveal you if you're close by, as will his Killer Instinct during Nightfall. You can't avoid gens (though it may be a good idea to prioritize those as gens to knock out first/while he's busy), but it's a bad spot to heal.

If he's not busy and you make a loud noise notification, he can be on you really fast. Plan escape routes when doing hexes and be cautious if someone fails a skill check on your gen.

As others have said, lock one locker in a pair, then the other after the first lock has been broken.

Listen for his sludgy noises during Nightfall. There's a fairly large radius for that sound and he gives his position away. Hiding in Nightfall is generally not the greatest idea unless you're entirely behind an object; you'll glow white and can be spotted in many areas where you'd normally blend into the scenery. Running is better than hiding, though map knowledge helps so that you're not running blindly. Hold W if you've got nothing else. Windows of Opportunity will absolutely save your ass against this killer, and it's a good one to try if you haven't before.

If you end up on Lampkin Lane against him, then you’ve got problems. The game starts off with you already being in a 3-gen sort of situation.

Dredge doesn’t care about the gens in the street and the yards, because he can’t monitor them anyway with no nearby lockers. But he will guard house gens till his dying breath!

That’s why you must, MUST get at least one of those completed early on. (Maybe 2 depending on spawns). Do it between nightfalls, because he’ll get the killer instinct heartbeat and know exactly where you are if you try hiding in a house when it’s dark. Also, don’t commit to the gen too long. Work it a bit and run away, over and over till it’s done. It doesn’t take all that much time for Dredge to zip around to each house gen and recharge his power for another round.

After you get a couple house gens done, focus on the outdoor ones where he’s powerless. Easy win at that point!

Run away from him. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or whatnot. When he spawns his remnant during chase, just run to the next nearest tile. He can't catch you unless you deadzone yourself. He has no anti-loop unless you sit there and allow him to use it by staying at the loop.

The Nightfall mechanic is a bit tougher. Trivial if you can ensure every teammate will play it safe and slow, but solo queue generally means everyone in the lobby will be clueless on positioning. Best thing you can do is keep your head on a swivel.

Dredge Strengths and Weaknesses (I Love Dredge)

    Strengths:

    Strong map presence.

Decent anti loop with teleport return.

Nightfall is actually very disorienting to survivors.

Nightfall makes survivors super easy to see while making Dredge hard to see.

    Weaknesses:

Transitional looping is effective if Dredge tries to use his remnant.

Spreading out makes it harder for Dredge to keep the pressure.

Staying healthy starves Dredge's nightfall charging speed.

Running into his remnant during nightfall greatly takes away time from an active nightfall.

    1. Do not go next to lockers during nightfall
    2. If he leaves his remnant at a loop, leave the loop
    3. Lock lockers only near a gen you are doing in the early game. Later game, just lock any locker that hasn’t been locked yet
    4. DO NOT hide during nightfall. If your “cover” has any gaps in it or any part of you pokes out, the dredge can see you from miles away. If you hide, you are giving him free slowdown
