"This game is dead/dying btw"
Currect JUST steam players playing btw on the Event. Nice!
Btw the event is way better than the 5th and 4th aniversary imo because we can earn more unique cosmetics (instead of just the crowns that almost no one ever used after the event because they aren't great imo), also BP offerings are way more common in survivors bloodwebs (compare to the last year where it was really grindy to get one). Cool menu, cool decoractions, very good event so far!
Gl hf!

This is such a great event and i dare to say, this is best anniversary. BHVR is trying to make game fun to us again. I appreciate that.

my only problem is that the older crowns are by definition more valuable than newer event crowns

Dying? No.
Peaked? Probably. This will likely fall off to 25k odd by February, then go back up to...I'd bet around 80k next anniversary.
The next year will be 20k and 60k respectively.

This game is dead by daylight.

Is it dead? No. Is it dying? It seems that way at times and I can see why people feel that way. I used to play DBD with 8 people and we would rotate SWF groups so we'd all get to play together. Now they have all quit and I'm left playing solo. I don't play nearly as much as I used to because playing alone isn't as fun for me. On the steam chart I see there is only 2 months where the game peaked at just over 100k players on that platform, which isn't impressive for a game thats been out for 6 years. Right now I'm basically just waiting for the next RE chapter and may be taking a break between now and then. If after that the game doesn't really pick up especially after the perk overhaul then I won't be surprised if a lot of people move on from this game.

To be fair, who was using these awful looking onion rings anyway?

Ppl say this since the big bang, more like alot of ppl say this to basicly any game "its dying".

To bad they still cant fix the servers 4 patches and people are still getting rubber banding.

Yeah that's what happens when there is a big patch, happens with world of warcraft too, game is still leaking players.
6 -
yeah but Overwatch was actually dying lol
You'd be surprised, most people don't wear them because you crough behind cover and the crown shines over it acting like a beacon for the killer

I mean if the game offers up to 6.3x progression rate of course people will play it

Wow! People are playing the most popular event in the game? Who would have thought such a thing would occur!

This game is going to thrive for some time to come. I mean, we even have ANOTHER Resident Evil chapter on the way along with a ton of QoL improvements. DBD hasn't even hit its peak in terms of gameplay (although licenses are another story).

I don't think its going to "thrive" for the foreseeable future. The steam charts alone for the past several months of the game, and even overall arguably, don't really make me think of the game thriving. I have no idea what the console numbers are but it wouldn't surprise me if a similar pattern is happening there too. The RE chapter will undoubtedly bring some hype to the game for a time, but I don't think its going to be the same as last time. As excited as I am for another RE chapter, it takes the place of another chapter that could've been an original idea or even a new license. More RE in the RE franchise is always very hype. More RE in a game that has nothing to do with RE will only go so far. People that weren't entirely sold on it before, or just simply don't find interest in a RE themed chapter are basically going to have to wait a few more months for a new chapter that could be anything. As far as the changes coming to the game, that is very much a wait and see moment on how players are going to respond to it. When any game thats been around for awhile goes through changes that change a big part of how the game is played there will always be those players that don't like change, or considerable change, and may not like it at all. On the other hand, a lot of people have been asking for changes like they have mentioned to do so if it is done well, there is good chance the players who do want change will respond to it well. A lot of this is just wait and see which is all we can ever do in this game.

I wonder how many people got frustrated during the event and just logged back off, I know I did :((

Why did you get frustrated?

Is overwatch a game or some kind of dish? Jokes aside I meant stuff like Apex Legends, 7 days to die, Hearthstone etc

DbD is such a unique game that it has a constant pool of returning players that take a short break or longer hiatus from the game and eventually come back. The player count is deceiving, it's the biggest celebration of the year for the game. Pay attention to the retainment of that pool for two weeks after the anniversary then decide if the game is on a downward slope.
1 -
yeah but those games have real problems unlike DBD where it is usually either game ballance or game design

Who even says this though? The only thing I see is people saying "the killerbase is declining". Barely anybody is saying the game is dying.
This feels like another "Survivors are saying lightborn is op and toxic" scenario. Just lots of mass hysteria and people making stuff up.

Game is a lot more alive during its biggest event. Who would've guessed.
