Community Goals - Can You Or Can't You Contribute After 40?
We've literally got one dev (Peanits) saying the former and another dev (Mandy) saying the latter.
Rather confused - can we get confirmation on which it is?
Comments

Ah. So Peanits was mistaken?
Not trying to call anyone out, just trying to figure out which is which.
Keep in mind that if this is capped, then it's probably...numerically impossible to finish even the first page, assuming some attrition over next week.

Not to mention you have to select the challenge instead of it being passive. We cannot get it in time especially since we have another tome in progress
1 -
There's a thread where it was confirmed it's capped, as Rizzo said. I'm also concerned about the fact we won't even unlock the first challenge...
1 -
If it's capped so that everyone can only contribute 40, then I can't imagine we're getting any of these challenges done. You'd get a huge burst at the start and then a trickle, and our 'huge burst' was maybe a fifth of the bar.

Yeah, which is why I asked. This makes...absolutely no sense.
Even if they were nerfed by 50%, these challenges would be unobtainable. This feels like these rewards might be a bit of an anniversary prank by the devs in that case.

BHVR taking any actions to this? I mean, if you can't contribute more than 40 personally, then this goal will never be achieved.

This topic has been talked about pretty much for the last 24 hours and I'm sure it will continue so I genuinely hope they try and adjust something, preferably soon so we can still achieve it without them need to give it to us or some sort cuz if this is a prank, bad taste and to do it on an anniversary event is worse.

True. If we were able to contribute more than 40 times, it'd have been easier... I do hope something is going to be done about it. Or we need the challenges to be on for months.

I doubt it's a prank - I think it's more of a misprojection on what the community is capable of or likely to do in regards to keeping a challenge active (or prioritizing it over the tome that was released a day before, for that matter.)
I have no doubt they'll adjust the requirements. They don't want to withhold the community rewards.

yeah this seems like a big stretch if we can't contribute more than the cap. i'd love to be wrong, but i don't expect these to get done
0 -
We can't, it's been confirmed several times by Mandy.

Prank, an experiment of some sort...I'm not sure.
The devs have access to stats that we don't, so it would be bizarre for them to balance them in the way they have deliberately, if they want them to be something we can actually get.
You can clearly see how the first objective got a healthy burst initially, and is now barely moving.
Hell, I did a bit of napkin math, and even working in the way I'd hoped (everyone can contribute infinitely), we'd struggle to finish the first page.
We'll have to see what happens, because this is really, really silly.

oh no i got that, i just think it's a silly way to run things. of course, i don't have all the data, and the weekend is still coming up, but why on earth shouldn't we be able to contribute more?

I did, it was going smoothly but like others stated you'd need 750,000 individual players to do it and steam bas around 90k so idk
0 -
Assuming that all 750k players do contribute the prerequisite, which isn't guaranteed as many will be completely new, uninterested in the rewards, or busy with other archive goals - yeah.
Let's assume that out of the 80k Steam players, we get 50k that do it. And let's assume that, factoring in all consoles, you have triple the Steam players (it's probably less). So we have 150k contributing players.
That's not even halfway enough to finish.

Ah, sorry if I misread. My English isn't the best so I sometimes read things weirdly.
I agree, I was thinking of finishing the indiviual challenges and go back to contribute to this one but... Let's hope it's getting changed so we can reach the goal.

no you're good!! your english is great. i sometimes also phrase things in strange ways. i also hope something changes, this is really disappointing.

They should just throw out a hot fix that let all actions be counted passively without a cap. That way we could truly see what this community is capable off when there is a cosmetic on the line.

Ah, that's fantastic news. Thanks!

Okay! Or this works too ^^ Thanks a lot BHVR!

Thanks, as always, for sharing your thoughts and feedback. 🌹

Why do you even have to select the challenge to participate in the "community" event
1 -
Yay! 🌂 Can't wait to see how the challenges are updated. 😀
Edit: Ah, I see they lowered the amount to 10 million. It's still capped per player, though, which I feel kinda defeats the purpose of a community challenge, not letting the community participate past a certain amount, especially such a low amount.

This is a bad idea, I think the community wants a community event challenge that they can work on together, everyone working towards as goal. Please take my feedback to the developers, I think they are doing a huge mistake by capping progress. I want to contribute more, also without having the challenge selected.

That's great news! Had a feeling that the reticence was due to stuff being rediscussed internally. Really glad this is going to get sorted out.
Removing the contribution cap and making it 100% cumulative should be enough of a fix, but I'm down for lowering the numbers too, or whatever they have in mind,.
